I worked for only Cummins engine and overhauled from B series to ktA 60ltrs (also Quantum series )more than 60 to 70 engines in all models with Auterised dealership and with traders my experience from 1983 to 2019 I was so interested in work satisfaction but financially I was not developed, people I worked for was wealthy in finance .I was not money minded that was my weaknesses. I feel so happy worked for Cummins engine (in trouble shooting I was a doctor in service from costumer I had a very good response the way they respect me .

I've been driving dodge pickups since 96, ran it over 500,000 miles without a problem, bought an 01 and the same result, and then I bought an 06 and it is absolute crap, had a head gasket and injectors installed at Northern Prairie Auto in Wolf Point, Montana and it came out of their shop worse than it went in. It missed and smoked black smoke terribly. The service manager said, oh don't worry, it will clear up, never did, took it back and then he said the engine was shot. Ive talked to dodge and their answer is that because it has over 100,000 miles it is worn out. I talked to Cummins and they referred me back to dodge because they only sell the engine and dodge uses their own fuel and electrical system. So that lets Cummins off the hook. As a customer, we buy these dodge pickuyps because of the Cummins engine and expect to get high mileage from them. It's a pass the buck situation so no one has to stand behind them. I will probably never buy another Cummins engine again. Come on, 100,000 miles and it is toast???? Mine has 220,000 on it and it is toast. What the heck, everyone that I know has driven them for over 400,000 miles before there was a problem. I guess I've got the one that is junk and not a bit of service because dodge says its worn out. Doesn't say much for the Cummins engine.

Single most worst place I worked at. They may be good at what they do but when it came to treating me as their employee, it could not have gotten worse. My time at Cummins was one of the worst time period in my life that also affected and changed my life for worse in so many ways. My manager was abusive towards me, enforcing targets while not giving resources, bullying during meetings, insulting in front of others during meetings. My experience also included being shoved the targets in terms of work pace that was not possible to achieve given the resources available. At times, the technicians started turning hostile towards me and stopped working on my project and creating hurdles. In the kind of work where lots of people need to come together to make it happen, this type of working environment did not help meet many targets. I tried resolving it with technical services if there was any issue with me, the way I approach or any other issues they mave. I followed all the procedures that were in place working with various groups. Yet I met hostility from some groups the reason to which was unknown to me.
However, when I set up meetings to ask him what was the problem, he would never show up. After about 8 failed meetings, I talked to his boss who promptly referred me back to my manager. I crawled all the way up the dungeon only to be kicked back into it.
I tried changing the departments. I went to HR to put in an application. That application was promptly rejected by, it seemed, my boss - I was never told why I was not able to transfer to a very similar position.
Then it came to performance evaluation. I knew full well their performance evaluation system. I thought I was one of the best workers in 2011 as measured by many of Cummins' own metrics and also as substantiated by many of my coworkers. Yet, I received a rating that was barely above the level that would let Cummins fire me and also denied me a component of my bonus. When I talked to my manager in early 2012, I was told there were no issues on the technical side (it was an engineering job) but I had issues working with others which I had to correct. All this when I had absolutely no issues working with others and there was not a single incident in 2011.
If my manager was abusive, insulting and condescending in 2011, it became much worse in 2012. After many attempts with HR and my manager, instead of transferring me to another department, I was sent to work for a person who worked for my manager. It was as if to show a point that if I raise my concerns, it would only get worse for me. So much for their attempts to make it the best place to work! At this point I started to see isolation from my team and I was also given less important jobs. My manager (though his subordinate) made it his mission to ensure that I was never given the type of work I wanted and also made it his mission to try to find mistakes in my work. When I brought these issues with my one of my coworkers, he was understanding but it yielded no results. I always mentioned with my manager that if he wanted me to change in certain areas I was always willing to. He would simply continue his abusive ways.
Along with all this came something much worse - lying. As a part being an engineer, we had to start and to be progressing in a six-sigma project during first year. I was well aware of this and asked my manager about this during my performance review meeting in early 2012. He mentioned it was all fine and I really need not worry about it at that point and that he would let me know when I could start it. Despite his assurance, learning from past experience, I kept on inviting him to meeting along with my second manager, since only my first manager could sponsor to start a six-sigma project. My manager either declined my invites or skipped the meeting without informing me. Then it was time for my performance reviews for the year 2012. In this, my first manager (who still wrote the review) wrote that I failed to meet expectations primarily due to my ability to start a six-sigma project. I had all the invites and my first manager's responses regarding six-sigma project! Due to this reason he gave me essentially a fail grade which would allow Cummins to kick me right away.
Unfortunately, 2012 was also the year when I got married. It was probably the worst year in my life. At least it is a tie with 2011. Towards the end of 2012, I intensified my efforts to change the department I worked at. I started working in a new department towards the end of 2012. But the damage was done - mentally, psychologically, career-wise and others. Also, I received my performance review in early 2013 in which my first manager would state that due to my inability to start the six-sigma project, I get a fail grade. The year of 2012 was also the time when I saw substantial isolation and mistreatment by my coworkers. The mistreatment and abuse was so high that I had to go to the doctor to get an EKG due to severe pain in my chest and left the side of the body - at the age 31!. I was always respectful and courteous towards them yet received nothing but animosity. I started my in the new group in the later part of 2012. In this postion I was required to work on some new technologies. I was also supposed to work in a new test cell where the technician was nothing but aweful. He was incredibly hostile towards me and stalled/sabotaged the progress at any opportunity he got. At this point I was caught between a sabotaging lab technician and the results target (As a result of my fail grade for the year 2012 I was in the line to get kicked out if I significantly improve the "results"). I mentioned the issues with test cell to my third manager (third in two years!) who helped when he can and ignored when he cannot. At this point pretty much no one around me was willing to work with me. I have always followed the rules and treated people with respect.
All this along with that cooked up performance review meant only one thing - look for a new job - because I was forced out of this job and later on other jobs. This was my first industry job in US and what an experience it was (I studied MS, PhD in US and worked as an Assistant Professor in US for 1.5 years prior to working at Cummins). My years at Cummins left a deep mental, psychological, professional, personal wounds that have never healed to this day. At the same time, my career progress has severly stalled and even took a U-turn. I then started looking for jobs. I applied for quite a few jobs in the US which were not successful. So I looked for jobs outside US as well. As a person who was in a mid-career position and just married, instead of looking for a house and kids, I pretty much became a single nomad. The whole episode has also severly affected the job search process of spouse due to family unstability and could not find a job later.
For a person who was willing play by the rules, it could not have been worse. I lost so many things during my time at Cummins - Job, promotions, Lost opportunities to move onto upper management jobs, quality of life due to suffering, spouse job losses, lost opportunities to have kids, good working environment due to abusive managers and co-workers,health.
I still want to ask - What did I do wrong that I was treated so badly? That my life was destroyed without any reason.

I just hate all the Emmissions crap that they have to put on a beautiful cummins, basically the emmissions are killing the engine itself. Too bad that I just got a 2017 Ram Cummins that I cant omit that stupid emmissions since it will void the factory warranty. So I will be killing my engine for 7 yrs. Hopefully I can give the repair bill to the EPA when my engine dies cuz of the EPA. Now after 16 yrs, I have the privilage to own a brand new one! Yeah it took me a while, but I believe it was well worth the wait!

brendaleetv shouldn't kill your engine if you maintain and check your egr system. The after treatment doesn't hurt the engine but dpf and scr are a pain in the ass to keep in working order. The dpf will always eventually get plugged with ash. And scr dosing valve also fails at times.

I was liking 14 liters straight six big cam, mechanical, not select. Very robust engine. Only two weak places, waterpump axle and leaking aftercooler. Could even wild up really hard and still keeping in one peace.

It's better than Detroit or Pac car and cat only make engines for their own equipment I don't know about the Volvo Mack engines but the EPA while trying to clean up our air is killing the trucking industry. If you wonder why your paying $2 more for a 5 pound bag of sugar just think it cost $10,000 to repair exhaust systems on a big truck. Thank you EPA !

We have to be careful what we say in this day and age because it is recorded forever in videos such as this. At the :34 sec point a young woman makes the statement " Insuring that everything we do leads to a cleaner, healthier, safer environment." That may have been true then, but yesterday the announcement was made that Cummins has agreed to pay a $1.65B fine imposed by the EPA for "cheating" on emissions on about a million B-Series engines sold to Dodge for their pickup trucks. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland is quoted as saying" preliminary estimates suggest that defeat devices on some Cummins engines have caused them to produce thousands of tons of excess nitrogen oxides." EPA Administrator Michael Regan is quoted as having said" vulnerable communities are more likely to reside near highways where theses harmful emissions are concentrated, making this agreement critical to advancing our environmental justice agenda."
This is one reason why global environmental emission reductions to combat global warming will not succeed because of companies like Cummins who refuse to comply in all areas where they have control.
    Such a shame.
