    It makes a lot of sense your proposal, Ryan. Max Scherzer has 39 years old but I am impressed because he is capable to throw his 4 seamer at 93, 94 mph at his 39 years old. He knows so much about pitch locations. He knows how to pitch to every hitter in any team. he could be a positive influence in the Baltimore's dugout to the younger pitchers. He is a competitor and he is a Championship and World Series pitcher. Having Burnes in #1 spot, Scherzer #2 and Grayson #3, will be a luxury rotation. Talking about another pitcher, in this case Tarik Skubal, I see him like an Ace but Detroit would ask prospect like Mayo and Basallo and the price could be so high. Same thing happens about Garret Crochet. So Scherzer could be a great addition because I don't see Texas as contender this year. So knock the doors and go for him!

    I love Mad Max, watched him all the time when he played for Nats. He was worth every penny of the 7-year/$210M contract he got from Nats. HOWEVER Father Time has caught up with him. He was basically a 5-inning pitcher who would give up a long ball just about every outing when Nats won the WS in 2019. Dodgers traded for him, then he signed with Mets. Rangers traded for him last season. None of those teams got much out of him so I don't see how anything would be different with O's. Also I don't see Rangers trading him either unless they're completely out of it. That's not likely plus he still makes a ton of money.

      The Rangers are only on the hook for like 13 mil. So we'd only have to take on the prorated half of that at most. That's not bad for someone to be out 2-3 starter

    There’s no question Scherzer looks amazing right now, arguably best changeup this century like the announcer said, I couldn’t agree more. But his location wasn’t as flawless as we have seen, but his action on his pitches being so crisp tells me he’s going to get the location back to what we’ve seen in the past because he’s max fkin Scherzer so I think you can expect more from him. I feel bad for whoever he faces next after we hung that loss on him even though he pitched phenomenally well.

    I usually look at just the titles of trade suggestions and dismiss them. Because it was Ryan who has convinced me his breakdowns are valuable (and he quoted me during a podcast 6.17: "Ever eat dogs right out of the pack without bread?"), I watched.
    39, obviously experienced, still got elite stuff, won't break the bank/destroy the future... I'm there.
    NOTE: get something in the title of these breakdowns that separate them from the streams. Obviously you don't want to call them Ryan's Breakdown as it sounds like a hospital stay (Stroke does the same thing). But Ryan's Mark/Line/Stamp/Point.
    If I don't have to check the timeline, I'm clicking every one.

    I’d love to have Scherzer for two reasons, one he looks absolutely ridiculous right now and he could prove to be fresh for the second half with the injuries if we are being optimistic. Two, it shows the orioles are willing to spend money on the pitching staff so we can expect Burnes to get the contract he deserves and be the ace of the future for the orioles. However, I would only take him for guys we can REALLY afford to get rid of because he won’t be back with us next year most likely because Burnes is gonna get the contract. HOWEVER, if the Os are really that serious and they will give Burnes the contract and Scherzer a one year deal(since he will not command the same 30+ million with the recent injuries and the risk he now has associated with his ability to perform all year. 30+ million is based on you have 30+ starts. It’s basically a million/start hence the 32) That means by the time his deal is up, Bradish, and possibly means, are back in the rotation, and if they’re healthy and Grayson keeps getting better and Burnes gets the contract, that’s 4 pitchers capable of winning 15-20 games/year especially if they get 32 starts with this offense. But anything beyond Norby/Stowers I’m not interested in max at all bc of the rental aspect and health concerns.

    • @LovinLoyalty
      @LovinLoyalty 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Or even better… a cheap rental like Gibson in a deal where we also get Helsley from them and they could REALLY use Norby and Stowers. They would be significant upgrades for them and Helsley comes with long term team control. We have two big starters. We don’t “need” a super big pitcher to be really competitive in October if we have a good back end of the bullpen. Really we just need to buy time until Bradish is back, and if we go deep into October with Gibson, I think he would resign with us on a favorable contract, and we need to make sure we sign Burnes to a long term deal. If we got Bradish back midseason next year, and you add Bautista to Helsley in the back end, Burnes, Bradish, Rodriguez, Gibson as our 4 man in October next year, Bautista, Helsley for 7-8-9 since Felix is good for 2 and Helsley is good for an inning plus, depends on his pitch count, but he’s lights out for 20-25 pitches. Our starters get through 5-6 with a lead we will win 90% of those games. Norby, Stowers and maybe someone on our 25 man roster like Krook or one of our higher pitching prospects like Seth, or a couple lower prospects that show average level potential but are still in high A or AA. But if we are talking cardinals trade, that’s the move in my opinion. And I’d be willing to part with someone like Basallo or Bradfield Jr for Skubal. I might even be willing to lose Norby and Stowers with Basallo or Bradfield. Give Burnes the contract this winter and have the best pitching staff in baseball when Bradish comes back.

    • @russellhawk6641
      @russellhawk6641 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @DannieArre-br4ns I definitely disagree we need a good 3rd starter for the playoffs Kyle Gibson is not that and no chance we try to push Felix for 2 innings much at all next year when he’s coming back from TJ and there’s a chance Bradish doesn’t pitch at all for us next year

    • @joshuablevins4340
      @joshuablevins4340 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LovinLoyaltythe Orioles did not trust Gibson as a viable option to start games in the playoffs for them last year... Why in the world would you trust him to do that this year? He's not a big time playoff caliber pitcher

    • @LovinLoyalty
      @LovinLoyalty 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joshuablevins4340 that was as a top of the rotation guy, not as a #3 behind Corbin Burnes as the Ace. Next, the whole rotation is pitching better this year and I think it’s because of Burnes and my third point. 3, we have a new pitching coach this year and whoever the O’s get will be, at least partially, as a result of Frenchy telling them he sees things he believes will assist him in making that pitcher becoming a better starter if he’s not already exactly what we are looking for. Ultimately, there would be a lot less pressure on Gibby to throw a shutout compared to last year and he’s already a really solid presence in our clubhouse so who knows what kind of jolt that will put into him. Lastly, this flat out isn’t the same team he pitched for last year. He pitched for a team that made a living out of scraping out one run games, this is a team that dominates most games, but certainly never has a pitcher feeling like he’s out of the game. Keep it close and get a win.
      Sidenote: if Povich and Kremer pitch better than him he would be a huge asset to the bullpen and no matter how you spin it, he’s going to be a better option than Cole Irvin until October that comes cheap which leaves Elias with the ability to use his player capital on bringing in big relievers. Bradfield Jr for Mason Miller and Norby/Stowers for Gibson/Helsley and you have the back end of the pen locked down while getting a starter that has the stuff to have us catching lightning in a bottle - Gibby absolutely can go on a serious second half run, a serious postseason run as a starter or reliever. He’s got a great mentality and will have no issue accepting whatever role he’s put in while giving us his absolute best. He’s pitching to a 3.70 ERA over 15 starts this season averaging 6IP/game. We need a #3-#4 starter and pairing him with Helsley in a trade gets us more value for our prospects and there’s not many #3-#4’s pitching better than him in all of baseball.

    • @joshuablevins4340
      @joshuablevins4340 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Gibson has been around for a while and he has never at any point in his career shown the ability to be consistently great during any stretch at any point. He's never went on a serious run like literally ever, postseason or otherwise. Again you didn't even address the fact that the guy was on our team last year and management did not even trust him to throw a single inning in the postseason. There's a reason for that. He's a fifth starter on a contending team at absolute best and you don't pitch fifth starters in the playoffs. We need a number to or a number three in Gibson is not that and never has been and never will be. I love the guy.. I wouldn't mind if we reacquire him as long as that's not the big pitching move for the rotation and we get someone else as well. Meaning of we get Gibby, we would NEED to aquire not one but TWO starters, the other being a Max Scherzer or a Chris bassitt type. You can forget about the guy for the tigers with the funny name or the guy for the White Sox who's going to end up in the bullpen what's in the next month because he's up against an innings limit. It would take way too much to get either of them. And you can forget about Miller because it's going to take a heck of a lot more than and Enrique bradfield to get him. You're not going to touch Miller without giving up Heston , Basallo, or Mayo, along with Povich or mcdermott, Beavers, and one other top single A or double A player and that is way too much. They're going to ask for way more than bradfield. Bradfield would be the second piece in a deal for Miller, not the centerpiece. There is no way that norby or stowers straight up for Gibson would even be a fair deal. The Orioles would be getting fleeced. The only way I'm trading for Gibson is if the centerpiece in that trade is that catcher we have in single way or maybe a jug Fabian / Max Wagner type. Because that's about all his worth as a fifth starter and if Gibson is the only rotation move the Orioles were to make 99% of the entire fan base would be up in arms and scratching their head the Orioles didn't do enough and they're being cheap again. The fan base would literally be enraged

    For the most part we have a very young and energetic clubhouse without a lot of egos. I am always leary of guys at the end of their career who have 300 mil already in the bank and a ring or two. I worry they just don't have the fire in them anymore. I mean, they have already made a legacy and have nothing to prove. If they aren't feeling it that day, oh well, still got paid.

      Texas ain't never gonna let him go to the O's. They would only trade him to
      a club in their extended fam. #2 The O's gotta be real careful not to upset
      the apple cart in the clubhouse pickin up high priced players when David
      Rubenstein has yet to sign 1MFer that we got that deserves a sensible deal...
      otherwise all those guys that they got to buy in is gonna feel burned & mgn
