If you're riding around a £4k scooter, you're making yourself a target. Look at all the trouble thieves went to to steal mopeds. I guess half the fun is getting away from them.

The Nami Burn-E is wasted in the city to be honest. Its more of an 'adventure scooter' that I'd take to the woods or a national park rather than commute

@@samueltaylor2757 I'd love to see all classes of e-scooters including these high-powered ones legalised for UK city streets (licenced and insured). The number 1 provision is that these high-powered ones should be factory locked to no more than 20 Mph for when in urban city areas and this should be strictly abided by and strictly enforced. Perhaps the manufacturers (vsett, Nami etc) could work with the DVLA and phone up unlock the faster speed for riders when they're on private land of countryside. Sounds far fetched I know. Personally I love the other beefed up specs of high-powered e-scooters which include: Hydraulic disc brakes, dual motors, higher voltage, higher watt hours and most importantly multiple wheel Suspension.

@@chukidee6634 20 mph is slow to keep up with traffic... 40 mph for city commute, more than that on private roads. What the city must invest is teaching new riders how to ride properly, educating them to have a defensive driving, etc. Riding at 40/50 mph on a scooter is ok if the conditions allow it to.

Great to see an EUC (mono wheel) in there, once you have learned to balance, I think they are amazing. That V11 would have been able to do the stairs with a skilled rider. Just got my second EUC and I'm loving them!

I'm now living in Spain and opted for a Smartgyro Speedway V2.0 with a 800W motor and top speed of 45kph. Range is 45km and cost 530 euros. The difference between this and the cheaper models available in the £400/250W range is exponential for just £100 more... and it's legal on the road. Well, maybe except for the speed, which is legally limited to 25kph, but it's a simple onboard computer hack to get top speed

I just got my first baby scooter, its one of the new Pures, the basic one. 350W (Yeah baby! It's a beast!) I do like it despite the limitations though, it's sturdy and sweet for the low price, same specs as next one but riding up hill is a struggle. For driving at an ok pace across your land *ahem* to the shops, it does the job and they look nice.. I'm going the whole hog next time though. Just getting used to my baby first, learning how to be as safe and respectful of people as possible.
Like, if they happen to be walking on "my land" on the pavement I usually jump off at a decent distance and push as people are still freaked out by them a bit, being new and Jetsons-like (I know they're not *really*) plus the bad press and the govt. being confusing about it all. Also ring on blind corners, slow down on them and have full awareness of what's going on round me. Oh - riding goofy as well of course if you're in the UK, our cars driving on the left..
I'm well excited about these things anyway, they're so convenient - they're a blessing for my tired old feet and just such good fun!

Brilliant video as always guys! 😎 I’ve got a couple of e-scooters, ranging from the Pure Air Go (250w / 15.5mph) to a heavily modified Inokim Oxo (13kw+ / 75mph+) and TBH I find I get sore hands and arms on the Inokim after about 15mins if I’m giving it beans. Really need to hold on for dear life. But when I watch vids with Nami or Rion riders they seem to be totally fine. Don’t know how they do it. But out of all of them the Inokim is still waaay more fun, albeit being less waterproof and a massive death trap. 😊👍

I just bought the Riley scooter. I have fibromyalgia, and i work a part time job. I was getting a lift into work, but i was finding it too difficult at the end of my shift to walk home, the pain was so bad. I didn't want to give my job up, i need the routine, it's keeping me sane after my husband died. I'm not that old (in my 40s), so I'm definitely not ready for a mobility scooter. So i decided on an electric scooter.
I've been using it for just over a week now, and it's amazing! I get everywhere so quick! It's a twenty minute walk to work, much longer if im in pain. The scooter has taken that down to 7 minutes. I'm over the moon with it.

In my country, any PEV that can go over 25 km/hr must have registration and license to operate. I'm not opposed to it as this will ensure the safety and security of motorists and riders alike.
I always wear full face helmets even on my Xiaomi M365 that can only go 25 km/hr because with e--scoots the risk for faceplanting is huge with those small wheels.

Plenty of cities in the UK have rental scooters that are charged at night by third party guys. Usually they forget disable the charge mode when they drop them off in the mornings, I have a scooter for months bought a charger to keep it topped up. Is it stealing debatable. Have i looked after it and ensured my own safety knowing its in good working order and charged it whilst not asking for money to do so? Totally. Its a good trade off. Overall if and when it stops working I'll get one because its a great toy to own. I use my car alot less now, anywhere that would take me half hour to walk I take the scooter. They're a great alternative to cars and buses aslong as your Comfortable on the roads.

Riding a stand-up scooter at 60 mph is having a death wish.
The center of gravity is dangerously high, the suspension is inadequate for a sudden compression like potholes, The wheels are too small to roll through a pothole without a sudden deceleration of speed; this will cause a forward pitch motion of the rider and a lifting of the rear wheel. Think about what happens when you apply too much front brake on a bicycle...same principle.

There is a place for both ends of the market but the chances of that 60mph scooter becoming legal will take some serious imagination.
The smaller slower scooters will become legal that is for sure.
The EUCs may become legal that is not so sure, however if more people took them up they may stand a better chance.
Let's not forget all of these forms of transport and fun rides are still illegal and we are still awaiting that to change.

Fuckin fun to watch. If all goes well with UK gov legalisation, then PLEV startups like P.E.T. would flourish even more. Faster work horse e-scooters (NAMI, Kaabo Wolf warrior, Rion etc) would more likely get classed as unseated motorcycles if legalised. Alternatively they might get their own special category. Too fast for residential roads in London. The speed would have to be throttled down to 20 MPH whilst maintaining all the other top physical specs.

I'd love to see all classes of e-scooters including these high-powered ones legalised for UK city streets (licenced and insured).

These devices are bloody LETHAL! At least most lower-end brands of them. Why? Beyond a certain speed / weight the brakes simply don't work full-stop, most easily achieved on hills. They should be banned for this reason and the corporations / Gov's responsible for selling them fined & punished accordingly. This has nothing to do with "road safety" for them being banned... you could easily face the same issues on private land. Some of the more expensive double brake models might be okay but, all the ones with a single breaking system are lethal. Then they should be forced to redesign them with proper manual bike-type breaking systems to sell, if at all. Or at least CLEAR warnings on all instruction manuals that they are lethal on hills & recommendations on how to avoid that. Manuals stating terms like "best used for private land" or similar terms are NOT the same as stating "btw... ride this on any significant hill & you WILL face certain death or serious injury." There are ways around this such as using the mud-guard for example that make them much safer but, that's still not ideal. It'll only take a single non-precautious rider to try one of these on hills & they'll face serious injury or death currently,.. unless they get banned and forced to re-design. Their are various other flaws you could change to improve them e.g. a gear-like accelerator to improve or select speed control but, the brake issue is biggest.
