I always had a fear of swimming. I’m now learning how to swim. To anyone else with this fear. The only way you will learn how to swim is to learn not to panic when the water takes you. Go with the flow. The moment you panic - you drown. Trust me when I say your body knows how to swim and your instincts will kick in when you RELAX. It’s all in your head. You can overcome this fear. And when you do - you will love the water! I promise!!
@@sophialeonardo9778@sophialeonardo9778 had a friend/coworker who drowned 2 nights ago. He could swim. So, everyone thinks it might have been suicide or something.
A decent technique for learning how to be relaxed in the water, especially when teaching people to swim. However, as a survival technique in deep water, not so great. You either have a good comfort level in deep water from learning that previously, or you don't. Drowning is not the place to learn.More useful tip would have been kick off shoes, if wearing any, remove pants or swim trunks if long leg style like yours, tie knots with both leg ends, and hold pants/trunks inverted, blowing air into the pants with each exhale. The trunks/pants provide buoyancy from the trapped air that is useful for keeping you from sinking and using less energy.
+Mario Quesada i hate the deep end and we had a sub so they moved me up to the deep end they said swim in the middle of the deep end and i almost drowned she didnt give a sht
I have summer gym tomorrow and the swim teacher always makes me go to the deep end even though I tell her I can barely swim and if she tells me to go off the diving board I'm pulling a fucking Luke Skywalker and turning around and grabbing the board I aint drowning today no sir.
The most important thing is to get rid of your anxiety or fear of deep water. During my first time swimming our coach told us to keep in touch with the side of the pool then push ourselves in the water until our feet touch the floor. That way we get used to being in deeper water.
dont do what this guy is saying, people who don't have the code in the brain (not knowing how to swim) wont be able to swim in any situation. You will just drown, however there are some cases of people learning how to swim during drowning but it's extremely rare.
Because of how I was taught, I find swimming underwater a lot easier than swimming on the surface of it. Which I guess gives me a slight advantage if I sink. But I'd prefer not to sink in the first place. I can do front crawl but haven't mastered the breathing. (But now I think of it front crawl is more of a competitive style of swimming that is unnecessary) I want to learn how to tread water and breast-stroke. I think if I know how to do those well I'll be a lot more confident in and around water.
+sean tyler just jump into the deep end I jumped into a 25 feet water at the lake I thought I was going to drown but I was just like "oh this is easy" and my friends just laughed at me for being scared trust me bro there's nothing to be scared of :)
I had the worse fear of deep water more than anyone, and I taught myself how to swim. You can do it. Swimming in a pool, even in the deepest part, is surprising easy. It's the stroke techniques that are hard to master, and even when you don't master those, you will still move in the water and stay afloat. If you retain any fear and keep panicking, you will drown. Don't panic!!! That can't be stated enough. However, the movement he's doing at 3:06 touching his feet to the bottom is really hard to do because the water will keep bouncing you to the top. It is hard to top the bottom. The best thing is to take a swimming class at your local community college. That's a great start. Hold on to the ledge first and you will be swimming in no time. Just float and start kicking and you have it. Now ocean swimming is a different beast, and you shouldn't swim in it unless you have years worth of pool experience first. Even great swimmers drown in the ocean.
Im a pretty strong swimmer, so heres my advice to new swimmers. Learn to back float, relax, and STAY CALM. The only time ive almost drowned was in Kaui, Hawaii. That pool is a little too deep for my liking. I really want to learn how to swim, but unless I get over my fear of drowning, I will never end up in one. Just watching this video caused me some anxiety.
Tip: Dont take one massive breath, take several SMALL breaths before you go under Tip 2: Put your chest above the water and THEN breath the water is pushing against your chest and will stop you from breathing in much air as you usually do.
I also understand you, but its possible to get over that. Once you understand that we (human body) are buoyant, you will be half way there. Astronauts practice under water in the NASA pools in order to simulate being in space. Being underwater is the closest thing on earth to zero gravity. As for more practical exercises and drills, take a look at this youtube channel called, Swim without stress. Great exercises and drills on their channel.
If you're going to drown, take your last bit of air then hold your breath. While underwater, you want to flip and make a formation like a starfish would. Once your head goes up, continue breathing and shout for help. CAUTION : DO NOT TRY MOVING YOUR HEAD FORWARD OR BACKWARD.
very nice dude. Kudos for going thru all the trouble to make it for people like me. I am definitely gonna try this. One question though- When we exhale we usually tend to go down but if you have good amount of air in your lungs then that keeps you floating so according to you if I exhale while already in the water would that not make me go down further in the water??? :(

Omg thank you sooo much! I personallu dont know how to swim on deep waters i start to panic when i noticed my feet not touching the ground. One time i went to the lake and i was on my back floating then i didnt realized i was in the middle of the lake which apparently was over 20ft below and im only 5ft tall. So i just floated abd used my arm to the edge and just closed my eyes... But i dont want to float i want to have other options and im so glad i found this. I can never know why people get scared and freak out in pools, I mean if you sink you just kick the ground when you land and that momentum will just rise you up....
Well what might be common sense to an experienced swimmer wouldn't register in the mind of a person who thinks they might be sinking/drowning. Panic always causes confusion in the mind.
There was a kid in my neighbor Hood pool who drowned last year in the deep side. I cant swim. I can swim a little but other than that someone tell me how to swim in 5 ft water I'm scared. I can only swim in 4 ft., but that goes to my chin while I'm on my tipy toes and my head is up. My parents told Mr don't swim with your head up though because there's a 75% chance of drowning. Someone please teach me basics of swimming because I'm going to the pool next week today is Saturday and I'm going on Monday. when I mean teach I mean very useful & helpful tips. Thanks. 😊
I need to watch this over and over again,i do not know how to swim but i have fear on water. Looks easy on you, what if you have the tension? how to relax?
Im glad i found this bc personally i know how to swim but i dont know how to float and i almost drowned yesterday..only reason i didnt die was bc i did the jump technique. The water was super deep and i thought i cud make it back to land but i cudnt see anywhere so luckly i knew about the jump but now i know how to float which is good
swaggman wilson me toooooo! I know how to swim but can't balance my self and almost drowned because I cannon balled into the 8ft. Couldn't get my head above water and breath, I honestly thought I as gonna die
I was not knowing how to swim before i was barely going to deep i was only in shaklow and i didnt even know how to float or swim normally so I practiced a lot and now i can go deep underwater and a pro swimmer so remember guys the key is yo practice...😁👍🏻
One time I was at a hotel when I was like 7 years old and my brother when in 8 feet and he was like “just jump in your gonna float” I held on to the wall the whole time and just kept getting to the deeper and deeper part and I stick my head under water to see how deep the pool was and I almost let go the ledge and fell in the 8 feet of water and thats why I freak out everytime I see deep water because of that one time. Then there was another time where I was at a indoor pool with my mom sis and bro and my mom threw my goggles in 4 feet and I was only 3 and a half feet I could stand up in the water on my tippy toes but I kept my eyes closed the whole time and kept feeling for the goggles and got them I felt so confident but now its like I haven’t been to a pool in forever so its hard 😣 Oh and one last time my uncle had a decades party and he had a pool in his backyard and I dunk my head in 4 feet (this was like 2 years ago) and when I did I turnt around and looked at 12 feet of water from where I was and immediately I freaked out but I came up took a breath and went back underwater to see how long I hold my breath and me and my cousin were doing it bc we are both scared and thats the last time I remember going under actual water. The last time I was in a pool was at school in December we had an excersise class we had to do excersise and I was making it to just 5 feet she made everyone go there it doesn’t mater if ur feet dont touch the ground and everytime we moved in the water I kept feeling myself float towards deeper and deeper and I couldn’t feel my feet on the ground anymore I was freaking out but then I started to kick my feet non stop and thats what helped me
When I first entered a deep pool I almost shat my pants...I was like 5 back then and it was scary, but somehow I knew how not to sink like a rock and I managed to stay on top of the water...I still hate deep water, but I love it at the same time, I mean when you cannot touch the floor of the pool without sinking is so cool. Our gym has a 150cm deep pool only and since I'm 185cm it's horrible for me, the closest pool where I can't touch the floor without going underwater is in the next town, 15km from here...
Last time I went into 7ft and sank and I didn't know how to swim so I walked underwater back to 5 ft
DeeTheBomb lmao

i was on the training and i start to drowing couse i was to tired we had very exhausting training(but somehow i survived).omg im too scared now i have training tomorow :O
oh i can hold my breath only 20 seconds or 22 watch out next time :D
+Kittens'N' PirateMittens can you tell me how to kick my legs and arms so I can tread please?
Thank you! This is so helpful.
Thanks. 😊
just look up on youtube there's many videos
Kate Grover just remember that dead bodies float so if you go limp you should float just fine
yeah thats true but if you sink you dont always have your breath held and ready
i show this video to Schooling 2 years ago now he is an Olympic gold medalist and he already beat Phelps .. Thank You !!
my grandma is taller than you
2019??? Anyone?
2058??!? aNyOnEE??
I need to watch this over and over again,i do not know how to swim but i have fear on water. Looks easy on you, what if you have the tension? how to relax?
I havent tried it yet but this looks by far the most convincing video on how to tread water
Thanks a lot, this what I was looking for.
very useful ...while start swimming thanx...
this is great now you've thogthe me to get over my fear of the
water thank you .p.s I subscribed
ok i will practice
useful video,I personally found it benefitting.,thank you
thats actually kind of smart. if youre drowning, stop struggling and once you reach the bottom just jump straight up
Try doing that in the deep blue sea.
Well hopefully someone who doesnt know how to swim wouldnt be dumb enough to go that far into the ocean
Shit happens.
the pool I go to is like 15ft so I ain't reaching the bottom XD
am asumming you mean when stay in a pool , cause in a lake , river , is other history
Love the jump to push up!
Thanks so much for the video. I really appreciate it! I'm going to try this out when I go on holiday but I'm so scared 😭
thankyou so much for this. it helps a lot. im sure all of us agree. 👍👍👍👍👍
TOP. I will try it. God Bless US. Gretings for Gouda, The Netherlands.
Awesome.. Thanks for the technique!
I was not knowing how to swim before i was barely going to deep i was only in shaklow and i didnt even know how to float or swim normally so I practiced a lot and now i can go deep underwater and a pro swimmer so remember guys the key is yo practice...😁👍🏻
thank you for the video! I am scared of the deep end since I cannot tread water yet.
The last time I was in a pool was at school in December we had an excersise class we had to do excersise and I was making it to just 5 feet she made everyone go there it doesn’t mater if ur feet dont touch the ground and everytime we moved in the water I kept feeling myself float towards deeper and deeper and I couldn’t feel my feet on the ground anymore I was freaking out but then I started to kick my feet non stop and thats what helped me
Thx for this its helpful now I swim backwards and I do front flips in the water!!
I finally touched the bottom in 9 Ft yesterday and this video helped me, thank you!
this is indeed helpful. thank you. now I have to do it in actual.
I'm going to try in the gym pool today & come back to review if it helped. I'm sure it'll help a lot, thank you~
Thats cool definitely going to try this because tommarow im going swimming and am learning to swim on the deep end of the poo
poo...lol
Tomi Bizjak I posted this last year I can swim lol
When I first entered a deep pool I almost shat my pants...I was like 5 back then and it was scary, but somehow I knew how not to sink like a rock and I managed to stay on top of the water...I still hate deep water, but I love it at the same time, I mean when you cannot touch the floor of the pool without sinking is so cool.
Our gym has a 150cm deep pool only and since I'm 185cm it's horrible for me, the closest pool where I can't touch the floor without going underwater is in the next town, 15km from here...
Good Lesson. I will try it out....
