I got a all black screen after replacing the shell. The right side gets super hot when its on. It still functions because i can hear the menu sounds.. but im afraid the cable mightve been punctured?? Any advice?
I've read that the 512gb versions screen has a different ribbon cable than the 64gb versions screen. Can you confirm that? I want to swap my old screen to the matte one
i did this but forgot to to put the screw sticker and the heatsink sticker on, is that safe to leave out im too tired to open the back up again just for some stickers
So after replacing my screen, I noticed when I turn the device on that the screen is just black. Doesn't boot. The SSD works fine in another system and boots up just fine. Do you have any troubleshooting ideas? I will say that I used the original cable that was with the Deck to connect the new display to the board. Should I use the replacement cable?
Hi, I would firstly go back and re check all connections as these are super easy to get slightly misaligned, each flex has a white line on where it should threshold the connector when the clasp is down. Possibly reconnect the other LCD if it partially worked to rule out a duff screen? You can do this without taking the board out if you are careful. You could try the black screen fix video we have on here to see if it needs to be reset to adjust to the screen? If non of those then potentially get in touch with us at Support@SteamDeckRepairs.com and we can get it in for some diagnostics.
How much do you charge for a screen replacement? Not needed as of yet but good too know 😂 also how much to swap the shell for a fancy one as you mentioned in your video? Great video too
It varies depending on the type of screen you have, ie. the glossy screen or the more expensive matte screen. Prices will also drop over time but around £144 at the moment which includes VAT and return courier back. We are also in talks with the great folks at Deck-HD who are producing the HD aftermarket screen so fingers crossed we can offer that as an upgrade/alternative too soon!
That glue bro... What the fuck. So hard to remove even heating it with the iOpener. T_T 95% of the process is dealing with the glue and 5% taking it apart.
I wish I would have seen this video when I did the shell swap. All the different kinds of cables are explained here in a calm manner. Great job.

would you say this is a good thing to consider to get rid of screen bleeding ?
It all depends on why the screen is bleeding? If you mean black ink stain like marks then that's a sign of a broken LCD so yes it would.

Mine has pressure marks. Which id like to replace soon.
