  • With options upon options of armor and weapons, it can seem that the combinations are endless. Instead of showing you my favorite builds, I decided to walk you through from beginning to end and show you what weapons and armor I would recommend each step of the way. I take you through from the beginning and recommend what armor and weapons you should use to get through the game. There was much to cover, so I decided to keep it basic. If you would like a weapons and armor build video and what I think are the best builds out there, let me know in the comment section below!

    so seeing as i dont have the ptb (and honestly dont really feel like enrolling into it), i have a request!
    the broodmother (and infected bm) trinket are being buffed to double summon damage.. you should try the widow armor (full set) with the standard broodmother trinket because it gives summons poison damage!
    im really curious to see how effective it can be, id suggest mom genes for even more poison damage and the spiderlings; i dont really think the mant would be summoned often enough for it to be effective.. not too sure about the weapon, but the apex predator buff with the bard's bow summons a wasp to fight for you so that could synergize well! obviously bardic inspiration would be nice with that because it affects your summons..
    mostly just suggesting this cuz back when 1.2 came out a lot of people made a summoner build, but it wasnt very effective and was more of a niche gimmick playstyle; but i think now that the trinket is being buffed it could work really good! maybe not exactly a boss killer or as strong as the standard poison/bleed builds, but i think it could be pretty good

      That is a great suggestion. I have my work cut out for me lol. I like where your head is at. I'll definitely be playing around bit with the different builds. Even the black ant armor too. Heard that got buffed. I like the thought of the summoner build and the poison build. It's two ways I play, so I can adjust to that. Thank you so much for the helpful insight. I look forward to more feedback such as yours! You'll see another guide video soon.

    The spider knight build is pretty good or sub poison for thorns
    Brood mother mask
    Termite armor
    Ladybug greaves ( for extra heal)
    Two handed weapon of chioce

    I'm still on my first playthrough and a stink bug managed to get stuck in the ant hill when I went in to explore. I watched it kill all the ants and finished it off. I left with over 100 ant parts with almost no room in my inventory. Shortly after another stink bug attacked the colony on the outside and I got even more parts. So I've been using the red ant armor as my default armor because I have such an abundance of parts that it's easily repairable. The great bug in the sky has smiled upon me.

      @AstroNerdGames  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha sometimes the game can be a bit unforgiving. And there's nothing wrong with the red ant gear. I rocked it for ages lol. I recommend the rotten bee gear because it's tier two armor but it does have it's down sides. Anyways, I wish you luck on your first playthrough! If you are ever looking for advice, feel free to comment on my videos!

      @@AstroNerdGames What are your thoughts on the shields? From what I can tell there's no tangible benefit of them in the late game. Parrying is the name of the game and you can parry without a shield. So why bother having one?
      I admit I like the shield and spear combo for the aesthetic. But gameplay wise it just seems redundant. And it actively debuffs you with 20% less damage. What's up with that?

    • @AstroNerdGames
      @AstroNerdGames  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jameswright2623 So, unfortunately there was a massive nerf on the shield in the 1.3 update. Beforehand, it was a great combo to have the widow dagger, toenail scimitar, or even the rusty spear and fireant shield. The benefit to having a shield is to increase your block gauge. Somethin that you absolutely need when going against let's say the infected brood mother or the black widow. Anything that will attack you multiple times and quickly, a shield is greatly beneficial. Other than that, I don't recommend a shield for your average bug. Btw the fireant shield is still a great shield to have as it uses corrosion to decrease attack resistance but not as necessary if you have the fireant armor. Hope this helps!

    • @jameswright2623
      @jameswright2623 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AstroNerdGames it does! What shields would you recommend for bosses and typical gameplay? I'll still use the shield for the aesthetic and extra defense so I can be a little bit more reckless in my engagements. Lol. Nothing looks cooler than a full set of heavy armor and shield in hand. Like some kind of bug knight! 😁

      @AstroNerdGames  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jameswright2623 Haha love it! And I always recommend the fireant shield. It's my favorite. If you're not rockin fireant armor, it's the best shield to have IMO.

    heyhey, any advice on a good loadout for the pinch whacker? seeing as its being buffed i really wanna use it again but dont know a good loadout for it

    • @AstroNerdGames
      @AstroNerdGames  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be honest, I've only used the pinch whacker for the times you saw it in this video. I level it up to 5 and then it kind of just sits in my chests lol. I'm sure there's plenty you can do with it but if I come up with anything, I'll be sure to let you know! Oh! If you pair it with a shield and activate shocking dismissal, I'm sure it'll be a beastly build.

    • @wolfygirlowo
      @wolfygirlowo 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AstroNerdGames alright! im planning on using the new trinket that gives shocks to all weapons + shocking dismissal, paired with the new pinch whacker bc it always shocks on the third hit, ill keep u updated on how that goes when i get the trinket!

      @@wolfygirlowohey I’ll give u an educated answer to your question about the best build for the pinchwhacker. It ultimately depends on what stage of the game ur in if ur in the early-mid game pinch whacker is a good option but once you get to the tougher bugs in the upper yard it’s just kinda average. Not bad, not good just kinda inbetween. Now the first question when using the pinch whacker is why? It does decent damage but it seems like you’re heavily focused on a shock kinda build. Shock does A LOT of stun damage but due to the stun cooldowns in place (thanks to the broken fist build) it’s kinda hard to make shock-stun builds as good as they used to be because your enemies just wouldn’t strike back. But alas if your are hell bent on using pinchwhacker, then assuming your in the early-mid game considering the pinchwhacker is the best early game weapon you should use ladybug armor as it’s the best armor for early-mid and still REALLY good in the late game! For trinket use Thor’s pendant as it’s pretty easy to get early game by just making a quick stop to the upper yard. For mutations, barbarian (turn off for wolf spiders) for 75% extra damage a trickle health regen. Cardio fan for faster stamina recovery. Meat shield because we can’t perfect block due to barbarian. Shocking dismissal for more shock damage. And lastly, buff lungs to keep us swinging. Hope this helped u! Just remember… STAY GROUNDED.

    Disagree with using rotten be armor over acorn armor early game. Sure it’s easy and the most accessible but that doesn’t always mean it’s the best. If we do the math and use the number 100 as an example then using acorn armor we take 55 damage and with rotten bee armor we take 68 damage… that’s a really noticeable difference, albeit the recipe for achieving acorn armor has been made harder but not necessarily impossible. I recommend getting acorn armor first if u must have armor but tbh I would just go from naked straight to ladybug and even in the endgame.

    • @AstroNerdGames
      @AstroNerdGames  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You a beast lol. I did the same thing for a long time before I found out about the rotten bee armor but it is a good temporary option. Gotta keep it open for beginners, you know? But thank you for the feed back. I love learning how other people play.
