Grounded Gameplay of the new Grounded Update by Mediocre Milton but not with Sir Sim-Alot or JADECRAFT, there's also no Blitz Grounded or Jade PG, oh and no ImCade or Fynnpire either, Obsidian Entertainment made the Grounded New Update!
They reworked acorn armor and its actually good again! instead of it making bugs more aggressive to you, it simply makes them build anger for base raids faster, so you'll no longer be harassed by every red worker ant ever, and it's back to being an amazing armor!!
So I found out that the ladybug armor's sleek upgrade affect lifesteal healing so using that in tandem with the mosquito needle works great

Ladybug armor with Tick Mascuital is insanely good. Max your HP and healing buffs from Milk Molars and mutations, and...well...healing items become optional. *They also become significantly stronger healing properties, which can come incredibly clutch against stronger foes.*
Ladybug is just the strongest armor. No reason to use any other armor in my opinion. Maybe if you want a more offensive armor set like Black Ox or something. Roly Poly has better defense...but it doesn't compare to healing your entire health bar with one smoothie. It doesn't compare to having 3-4 trickle healing buffs at once and just shrugging off DoT and chip damage with ease.
It's so good. It's amazing that this isn't a late-game armor. Even the Scarlet Embrace set bonus without the upgrades is rather handy for early game. Makes battling Wolf Spiders _*somewhat plausible_ in Whoa mode, permitting you are utilizing fiber bandages and well fed trickle health buffs. It's just a shame that it's heavy armor, so you gotta play more defensive than other armors, but whoa mama, if you're the tank of the group? If you're the parry-guy? Blademaster, Lifesteal, Scarlet Embrace, Healing increase, holy crap. The ultimate tank.
Trust me. I'm the parry-guy of my group. If every enemy could be parried, I'd suggest the Koi armor over the Ladybug. We don't live in a perfect world, and Koi armor is difficult to obtain. In solo-encounters, Koi armor is not going to save you from poison or explosions or whatnot, but if you have a reliable group, you feel confident in your parries, dazzling riposte's debuff makes group-encounters easier for your friends. This is the only other viable defensive option, and mostly for fun. Ladybug is the pinnacle general-purpose armor for saving your butt.
Finding out ladybug armor had healing buff was such a game changer for me as well man.
@@Aflay1it’s a 30% heal buff with all the pieces. How does that automatically make it the best armor in the game? Why would you need to tank when you could just perfect block? Wolf spider is basically free in any difficulty with almost any gear. Have you even tried other armors to test if it’s not just the molar increased healing?
The charcoal canteen is actually really useful. Fills up to 6 and can automatically turn dirty water to fresh water. And it takes one charcoal to repair. Plus, everywhere you go you can get fresh droplets. The canteen comes in clutch when you are underground.
Personally i LOVE the firefly head lamp. It allows you to have a light source and shield which is really helpful

Endgame I use the Coaltana, minty t3 hammer and a salty t3 axe. Covers most weaknesses.
If you don't use the bee spear dude I highly suggest it crit is the best buff in the game. It'll stagger the bugs consistently, and seeing as you don't use meals much it'll give you a reason to make larvagna or spider sliders. Having the crit bonus from 4 different sources, 2 from coup de gras, 1 from the spear, and 1 from the meal will make you the alpha predator of the yard. I know the slow heavy hitting weapons look like they'll do more damage but trust me nothing out performs crit.
I'll try it out but whenever I used spears or daggers in the past they broke so quickly they didn't feel worth using.
@@MediocreMilton The upgraded bee spear melts practically everything, and because of the speed you can land a lot more combo's between each insects attacks. As for repairing it more frequently bee's are really easy to hunt with their weak point in the eyes so I don't see repairing it as much of an issue myself. I'd rather be able to laugh at every bug in the yard than complain about repairing.
@@MrMattkid I'm using the a Level 9 Bee Spear with Black Ant Armor, a Spider Slider and Coup De Grass and it is awful against everything I've fought.
@@MediocreMilton I specifically use koi armor, black ant armor buff for crit isn't good. The good part with crit is staggering them.
if they added a tier 3 spear I would swap immediately but I've been using mint mace forever
personally I always get the bare minimum for a hedge visit and try to rush the insect hammer as quick as possible(isn't too bad depending on spider egg drops) just because I hate running past the random middle of nowhere milk molars and not being able to break them 💀
Insect Axe and Hammer are game changers. Spider egg sacks are so nice for rushing these. But damn, you gotta get to the hedge early to do it! Lucky, most of the difficult enemies there are easy to avoid.
The everchar torch is super nice. Its so much more convenient to not have to keep crafting torches and it lasts like forever. Also you can use it underwater
You could also use the firefly headlamp
@@egg8337 you can but it replaces a much more durable and protective piece of armor. Plus it brakes really really fast if you're doing any fighting. And you "can" use it underwater but not for anything deep enough to actually need it.

Good video. Would be great to have an updated version of this for 1.0. Try to be more focused on the must haves and the good alternatives (maybe because they are easier to get or for specific situations).
I went straight from ladybug armour with red ant club to Roly poly armour and the ant lion greatsword without doing the black ant lab
The mosquito needle is useful when you don't have healing, especially in early game and when playing with friends, it saved me many times

I agree but killing mosquitos can be hard to kill very early game because they can fly regenerate and also pack a powerful punch especially with that spiny attack

If you are good at perfect blocking I recomend black ant armor and if you dont have inventory space get just a mint mace black ox hamer with salt and spicy termite axe cause if your good this will get you through the game
The Black Ox Hammer and Termite Axe are tier 3 and you don't get them until the very end of the current content. How can they carry you through the game when by the time you get them you are currently finished everything?
I'd still prefer the koi armor, if your good at perfect blocking and your using the bee spear and eating crit food the minimal crit buff from black ant armor isn't as useful as the increased base damage from dazzling reposte.
@@MrMattkid what armor do you use ? And I would use the koi armor but I couldn't get the bones because it would glitch when I dug them up
The black ant armor is pretty good with your ability to perfect block and I recomend using it with a two handed weapon because you are perfect blocking. As the weapon, red ant club, maybe antlion greatsword if you can get that
@@poyrazlefkeli342 The buff from the black ant armor only has a chance to activate it's not a 100% guarantee it's gonna happen. That's why I suggest koi armor the damage bonus from it is a 100% proc everytime you perfect block. Not to mention it improves your ability to perfect block where black ant armor doesn't. The only real benefit from it is the increase in armor but that's at the cost of stamina regen.
I run mask of the mother demon, termite chest plate, black ant knee pads, black ant shield. You get poison coating/nova (does a ton of AOE and procs quite a lot) and dust guard/cloud, blocking strength/stun crit after block and crit stamina.
For weapons I run mostly tools with effects.
Spicy termite axe for all spiders (except the infected wolf spider) and bombardiers.
Fresh black ox hammer for normal and infected lady bugs, lady birds, black ox beetle, robots, infected wolf spider and roly polys.
Salty mourning star for both non infected larva types, ants, antlions, and termites.
Crow cross bow for stink/shield bugs, scarabs, dust mites and all flying insects.
Fresh Spider fang dagger for infected bugs (except ladybug) the pond, and if any flyers get too close for cross bow
Coaltana for Broodmother
perks i run buff lungs, meat shield, coup de grass, fresh defense, and mithridatism
Also, in coop poison nova will kill teammates if you're not careful.
Endgame I've really just maxed up & used Coaltana, Mint Mace, Club of the Mother Demon, & Salt Morning Star. If I feel like messin around, I'll use spears & daggers.
Koi scale armor is so underated
You can get to the pond lab without hill tubes, but it's pretty annoying to do
Stamina build like the spider armour + Mosquito needle are insane! You heal back up faster than you take damage!
When the antlion sword came out I spicy-ed it for wolf spiders and then the coaltana had to come out, my luck...
red ant club > crow xbow > antlion greatsword Is my go-to progression. You can also pick up the mosquito sword super early if you want to use a shield.
The charcoal canteen only takes durability damage when scooping the dirty water if you are using clean water juice or soda it’s perfectly fine and lasts forever
Ladybug easy kill, use a shield and dagger/axe/sword, hit the ladybug three times then block with shield and wait till it retalliates. Repeat till ladybug dead and take no damage.
The new torch works under water as well so it’s actually great
I've done all the way to brood mother with spider armor and aphid slippers and honestly wasn't so bad
There is also a way to quickly grind black ant parts, heads, and mandibles. If you get in water with a black ant trying to attack you when it gets to the water and tries attacking again it will die instantly and also this doesn't count as you killed them and they don't attack your base. This is extremely useful thats just it.

Any bug that dies going in the water, at least in my experience in version 1.0, the parts are unusable as waterlogged.
Favorite part was having my mint mace from before they changed the recipe
I’m a fan of the bow for down-range and the shield & spear for perfect blocking & throwing spear in CQC.
What do you recommend for me?
I would usually tote 8-10 spears and 80 arrows.
Daggers and two handed weapons just don’t work for me… bad blocking and strike timing.
I know I may seem like a very unique case, but I feel a pro like you, can make it work.

You need to use the bee spear, ladybug armor and the best shield you can craft. You should stack crit bonuses with food/shakes to go with the spear, and upgrade to koi armor for easier blocks when you can. It'll teach you to perfect block more reliably.
Definitely consider crit boosts for spear usage.
coolbeans got a good point about Koi armor. I'd say just practice parrying enemies like Lawn Mites and Red Ants at the beginning, and work your way to practicing against Larvae and Orb Weavers. If you can parry enemies like Wolf Spiders and swarms of enemies like ants and termites, you're good. Usually, parrying isn't that important unless you're playing with a group and they need a tank.
Focus on DPS if using a bow or spear is more your thing. Spears are just versitile and incredibly good with crit builds, particularly the bee stinger spears. Just not necessarily for ranged attacks.
If you do have a preference for throwing spears, I recommend having multiple binds for picking up items. I use X and RB. I use Y to huck items, and usually only use 1 ammo type for bows personally. It's up to you, but having RB as a item bind is insanely useful for games like this. It's so nice that you can bind 2 buttons to one use.
Definitely have a bow for flying enemies like bees, because it's a pain to throw your spear off the picnic table.
It's worth throwing in that you don't need antilion armor for the BBQ spill to get the coal. You can just build a lean-to and set your respawn right outside, maybe if your feeling perky you can have fresh defence, and you'll die several times getting them but if you wanna rush it you can
Exactly what I did today I also had by friend throw heal balsas at me and I used the fresh defense mutations. Its very inconvenient but it works
Bee spear, weevil shield, and koi armor are good for haze lab sandbox, even up to the upper yard
spicy spider dagger with assassin will stack poison, bleed, and spicy while being extremely fast ^~^

Grounded melee weapon selection is quiet impressive compare to most survival game in my opinion but i wish they had more ranged weapons ingame
Me too. I wish you could do more with bows too. You can throw melee weapons. You have access to spells. Range feels somewhat underwhelming, although, it is nice to have for flying enemies I suppose. Giving those wasps a good salt-licking with my Black Ox crossbow is quite satisfying.
I wish there was a reload speed upgrade for the crossbow, it has potential to be powerful

If you block after a shot it reloads one but you still have to wait for the timer at the bottom for Max damage cause if that cool down don't go away you won't do max damage

Does the red ant club lv5 work better than the pinch whacker early game?
Are you sure about Acorn armor and aggro management? The way you worded it doesn't sound like any game handles it. I would assume that this 'buff' would only apply to multi-player games. I haven't looked into it, it just sounded strange the way you worded it in the video.
The acorn buff increases aggro while wearing it, each piece increases the aggression gained, making you seem a bigger threat to the bugs. And it works in single player games too
I would recommend getting the antlion greatsword(slashing damage), if feels like a better ant club(generic damage), even better if the bug is weak to slashing.
If ur having trouble parrying antlions, use a shield (I also used mosquito needle to do some minor poke damage + heals in between attacks) to tank all its hits, and then immediately switch ur main weapon to get a 3 hit combo (I use the ant club and got an early antlion greatsword
Any one else find the brood mother boss to be easier with the poison resistance fro the mithridatism mutation?
Unless you perfect block all her attacks you are going to get poisoned so yes Mithridatism makes the fight much easier.
@@MediocreMilton I perfect blocked one of the attacks and that was the jump witch was lucky with my crappy internet
I use perfect blocking over resistance due to how effective it is. If you perfect block you negate all damage including the poison, I suggest learning their animation patterns instead.

It used to make you 100% immune to poison so it's kind of shitty now that they make you have to kill more Wolf Spiders to upgrade it for it to only reduce the damage poison does instead.
Ngl I have been using the bee spear and ladybug armor since I could kill bees and ladybugs a little easy. Haven’t unlocked anything better yet, other than the mint mace
I am that super sweaty player with broodmother clubs in spicy, fresh, salty and sour. lol.
Personaly my final armour set was the koi armour the easyer parry and parry stun is really good but thats only really viable if your good at parrying
I also use the salt morning star and weevil sheild because i found it way easyer to find weevils than find black ant parts idk if theres a parrying diffrence with the black ant sheild tho
I love fire ant. I do want to try moth armor for a ranged build, just to see how it goes. Black Ox armor sounds great on paper, so disappointed that it doesnt appear to be as useful as it looks, but i might get it anyway just to see for myself and if i hate it, it goes on an armor dummy xD
It's good if you go sleek and use a barbarian or wizard build. Black Ox is not particularly amazing for DPS or defense, but you'll become a sour-stun hero if you have the sour battleaxe and sour staff. It saves your friends a lot of trouble. Even solo, it can make swarms more of a breeze for things like Javamatic.
If all else fails, it looks great on the armor dummy.

The acorn perk makes it so enemies don’t want to attack you unless right next to them
So, I'm stuck with weapon and armor upgrades. I had already done upgrade level two on the hammer, hatchet and grub before watching TH-cam videos. Once I did that, they seem to have disappeared? They're ghosted in my quick menu and when I go to backpack, I can equip them but they're not what I leveled up. Help?
Spider Fang Dagger is such a slayer for almost all the early to mid game content. That passive damage wins fights. Especially if you're not good at perfect blocking and timing your shots. Learn from the Spiders that terrorise you all game. Venom is brutal. Agree with most late game stuff you said though. 1.1. there are quite a few differences with newer weapons.
I think poison is not very effective unless you're battling enemies like Black Widows which resist many things.
In terms of practicing, playing more defensive support builds, or hyper-aggressive assassin builds, well...venom can be nice. Not a game changer, in my opinion, but it's nice to have. Hyper aggression builds are popular for being high skill, high reward. Lots of mashing. It can really test you. I don't think poison or venom help, at least in my experience. Maybe because I never equipped armor that augmented or buffed my poison attacks 😅
@Aflay1 I have since played a lot more grounded and the poison build currently is probably the best build in the game since the fist only build got nerfed. BUT I think the gap is a lot smaller. Wizard build is pretty strong, the vampire ladybug armour build is unkillable if you can block.
What I can say is the poison build is the most accessible next to the fist build. The other builds almost require you finish most of the content before being able to use them. But in the end it comes down to your playstyle, I think. What is the most fun for you.

Oh I'm definitely geared more towards Ladybug. I don't even use lifesteal very often. I find the healing buff and some smoothies are good enough on their own.
If I were to choose a late-game build, it would probably be the assassin mantis build. Axes are more my thing, combined with crossbow. Wizard is fun too. I haven't given poison that much of a chance because, honestly? My buddy keeps taking all the poison equipment for himself, and he's basically become the brood mother spiderling summoner guy.
How do you get the custom waypoints that point to your base?
heyy i know you said the mosquito sword is underwhelming but it's my favorite especially while fighting wolf spiders to counteract the venom... but i know this video is a little dated idk if they buffed it
I found the spiky sprig works good for ladybugs early game to craft research the sprig .crude rope and thistle needle that u get picking off the side of plants with purple flower no need to chop down just jump up the leaves
Spikey sprig is probably the most OP weapon all the way into mid game. I upgraded it and ill be taking it into late game.
are venom arrows worth farming spiders for? im quite new to te game.
I go:
Red Ant Armor -> Ladybug Armor -> Ladybug level 5 -> Antlion Armor -> Antlion level 9
I occasionally level red ant armor when I'm lazy and don't have the repair parts on hand.

weapons wise I personally like the Rapier because I'm a sucker for vampire effects since I'm bad about not remembering to heal until it's too late
He saying you dont rellay need the weevil shield brokes my snooter heart. This shield carry me trough the game on Woah mode. Ive done now everything in the lower yard and today its my first time going to the upper yard and i still carry my weevil shield since the start of the game. I run the lower yard with ant club level 5 and weevil shield and spider fang level 5 and ladybug armor that was my setup for the lower yard.
So I just got back into grounded after a very long time and I'm not sure how recent the trinkets are but, what trinkets are strong to use like as your main ones?

the crossbow is horrible. you can shoot nearly 2:1 with a regular bow, and the crossbow maybe does 20% more damage
Thank you for the video, but I have a remaining unanswered question. Why Crows CB vs Insect Bow? Your other videos explain it in detail but I just want to know because my friend says Crows is better but I really feel like the Insect Bow is much better.

Crow Crossbow does more damage per shot. It's also much easier to kill Scarabs with it. Overall the DPS is the same for the Crow Crossbow and Insect Bow but I don't want to carry two bows so I use the Crow Crossbow now.
Yea crow does more damage per shot but. The insect. Is faster it's more about personal preference. The. Only thing is.
If you. Can manage to. Burst the crossbow then it's. 100x better than the insect in damage and speed
It depends on the way you play: if it's easier for you to hit less shots, use the CB, but if you arent that good at aiming use the bow. Tho you need to take more arrows with a bow so thats a huge downside.
So in the current version you can make a bee spear and lady bug armor once upgraded gives life steal?
I’m in 1.0 and I have all the labs finished and have the mint mace and I still use ladybug armor.
I still use the bulky roly poly with the mace and a shield.
Difference is I use sera's charm with a backup mint charm and I use the ladybird shield now.
What is the best glob upgrade for the termite axe?
My favourite is the new tick weapon it’s just so fast and heals a lot

I love the Ladybug Armor for the increase heals. It also adds extra block points
If you get one by the punch-o juice box you can get the ladybug in the small hole and just use a bow.

Mosquito needle w fresh is fantastic anything not beetle. It’s so fast it’s easy to get in there and just stab away and the fresh gives a leg up.
How are you getting Rust without the Black Ox hammer?
all you need is a katana and beetle armor, accessories would be torches the captain america shield parry skills near max hearts and mana and maybe your best repeater because ranger is meta
You now need 3 tier hammer for rust and sour candy and supreme rocks.
The most useless armor is ant lion, maybe I just don't understand it though. I was using it in the grill area but I was still getting sizzle.what don't I understand here?
You still get sizzle from ant lion armor lol, just not as quick

How do you add the name on the chest to label it i can't figure it out?
You can go to the top of the chest while opened and write, took me a while to figure out as well.
Yes there should be a little bar at the top of the storage gui you can click into, there is also a icon on the left side of that bar you can also change to help indicate what each chest has in it.

Fun fact: I was to lazy to “grind” out weapons, and decided to fight the broodmother in ladybug and with a red ant club (I won)
and i cant beat a ladybug in all acorn armor, weve shield plus arrows and mosquito needle.
The reason I don't use the coal canteen, by time I get to the upper yard and can get coal, I already have a way to get fresh water easily, so water is an after though late game.

I really have a question. WHY IS THERE NO SPIDER ARMOR, seriously spider armor is one of the best armors in the mid game it gives stamina boost exept for sleek and its very resistant to damage. Mediocre Milton please answer me

are you gonna make a video comparing snapshot dmg before new patch and snapshot /charged bow arrow dmg after patch changes would be interested to see it says "bonus dmg for charged" will bows be even better now or will this include a nerf to snapshot dmg hmh
(honestly if you good at the game i would just run koi armor or you could do full bow build every mob can pretty much be kited with good movement even without cheese abusing)

Why do you use the ant lion armor?

its tier 3 so it has the highest defense, same def as Roly Poly but medium armor instead of heavy armor so less stamina usage
If you weild the crow crossbow, wearing the full set gives faster reload increasing your dps, but if you go the sleek path you get thirst+ so your water gauge hardly runs out. But it's got good defense, sizzle protection is useless outside of 2 areas

I've chosen to go with level 9 aphid slippers, Brood mask, and the termite king chest peice. Also the gas mask, roly poly armor, salt broodclub, fresh antlion greatsword, coaltana, and crossbow and cap all up to level 9, super fun game so far
Sounds fun! What path did you to with the termite ches piece?
And what parts of the roly poly armor do you carry around with you? And which path again?

Hear me out, most of the armors you want are slightly expensive and you basically need to farm more of the items just to repair them. I found that the clover armor gives the same protection support but the cost to repair them is 2 clover leafs. I recommend using the clover armor for casual gameplay you can keep a stack of clover leafs and keep it in mint condition.
Ye id rather just farm to get the better armour it’s not that hard, plus if you start running round in clover armour even start-mid game a lot of the enemies can 1-2 hit you
Say what. Just get lady bug armor and "repair" via upgrading in the early game for a few levels. Berry leather is an absolute non issue with the jerky rack, and just kill lady bugs as you find them.
