Thank you so much for taking the time to put this video together, homie. You are a humanitarian of sorts. I have a 2006 Range Rover HSE and the fault happened to me today after a trip to big bear and a light off road trip. You saved me a cool heartache. Thanks again and blessings to you!
Thank you, so much for this video. This has been my problem for the past week or so now. Because of this video, I was able to save a ton of money by foregoing to the dealership for service.
hey first off, very informative video.is it possible for you to do a quick tutorial on how to switch out the ride height sensor. if so that would be greatly appreciated
This is the third video that advises - check your battery strength. I have a HDC fault code on my 2006 RR. Thanks for the confirmation. I will also have them check my alternator too.
TWO SECONDS FROM CONVERTING TO COIL SPRING!!! Hello jhc, Ive noticed you are very knowledgeable with these RR issues. Maybe a quick answer can save my life! I have a 2007 RR Sport HSE, The suspension fault started popping up a month ago and kicking off my compressor. Eventually it would only lift the rear (quickly) and the front would still be stuck on the bump stops. I replaced the compressor and relay out of pure ignorance to a more obvious issue with the front? Anyways with new compressor on board (today) nothing changed UNTIL.... I put the truck on my lift and let all four wheels fully extend off the ground. Once i put her back on the ground and drove it back and fourth to settle everything worked well! Up and down with no fault codes (all though front was ALOT slower than the back). I took off and went for a test drive after playing with it flawlessly for 20 min and the fault light came back on again! Now it comes on every time i start the vehicle after 20 seconds of compressor action...
Awesome videos! I have my suspension fault come on after it's sitting for a while, and when i turn it off and back on it gets rid of the fault. It rarely comes back on again once I get driving. Doesn't sound like the sensor described in this video, do you think it's most likely the compressor? It doesn't seem like the strut either
If your car is doing the normal ride only fault one way to fix it at and to continue to drive is to turn the car off start it again push the car all the way down into exit height mode then raise it all the way up to the top. Change your program setting to snow or sand while that's raising up once it's raised up switch control back to normal and put your height back to normal and you'll get quite of long-distance out of your ride before your fault will trip again.
Hey brother, good video! Question, I have an LR4 13 it’s great, however, recently I got a Suspension fault, but I do hear on the front bag air leaking out and the car will not raise at all I guess because all the air is trying to go into that area. Do you recommend changing the whole strut with the bag assembly already built or just replace the spring bag. Thank you.
Thank you this was very helpful. I had one of my tires replaced and ever since then I’m getting a warning that says only normal height available… I went into my 4 x 4 information and everything looks normal. So what’s the 1% if it’s not that sensor thingy or am I missing something?
Your "problem" hasn't shown itself yet. The best thing to do is to go past an auto parts store and ask to use their code reader. It's free of charge and if you don't know how to use it one of the store workers will come out and do it for you. There should be a code that pulls up. Once you get that code let me know what it is and I will give you the best course of action.
Hey mate thank you for the video. I have had so much issues with my 2005 Range Rover sports. 3 compressors have blown and no mechanic could figure it out then finally I found out the shockers where stuffed and caused that to happen so got some new ones. New compressor and now when I drive it starts bouncing at times and on the screen in the car it shows it all lined up but there’s a little difference in heights if the red dots and lines. I looked under the car and the boots for axels are pouring out with Greese and when I move the axle it wobbles abit. So does the axel show in the dash screen there?
Thanks for the super fast response!! When my suspension light goes on (Amber or red) I'm unable to switch my terrain (light won't be on) as soon as suspension fault shows on the dash
Hello, I have a 2002 Range Rover HSE 4.6L. I have had about 5 hard faults and each time was able to clear them by using a free EAS software and special cable to hook up to the OBII connector. I recently had my vehicle's oil changed and they put my RR up on a hydraulic lift rack. I drove my vehicle about 100 miles without any problems. Then out of nowhere, I got a "soft fault" where all of the orange lights illuminated on the dash and the orange lift arrow on the driver's dash. This was different than the other faults I have had, because in the past, I had "hard faults", with "do not exceed 25 MPH". Also, in the past, the hard fault never drained my battery. This new soft fault problem drained my battery after being parked in my driveway for a few days. Anyhow, the (freeware) EAS software that I have always used in the past did not work as the system was not able to "talk" to the EAS ECU (although it was able to read the codes, several of which were FR, RR, AND LR height sensor codes). The software developer said that his "new" software would not have this problem/bug, albeit the software that used to be "freeware" is now $190 USD. I opted to buy a full range scanner from Rovers North, model "iCarsoft", which they said would read and clear all fault codes, not just the EAS fault codes. Anyhow, I plugged it in and it seems to read fine, but when I try to unlock the EAS, it gives me an error code, "ECU communication error". I have spent a few hours on the web trying to figure out what to do. I have checked and swapped the relays under the hood in the fuse box. I have also read that it could be the EAS DELAY FUSE located under the driver's seat that is causing this problem. My questions are: 1) How can I test to see if the EAS Delay fuse is working properly? 2) I read somewhere that the ride height sensors sometimes get grime in them over time (which can cause height sensor height faults) and that you can remove and clean them. Can you shed some light on how to "clean them"? 3) In the past, the hard fault never drained my battery. This new soft fault problem drained my battery after leaving the RR parked for a few days. Is this a clue as to something else I should be looking for? For example, what could be causing this? 4) My air compressor does not seem to be running. Is this because I am in "soft fault" mode? It is my understanding that the air compressor will not run while in "hard fault" mode. I am not sure if this is the case when in "soft fault" mode. I have a feeling when I had the oil change that this caused my height sensors to go "out of whack" and trip the soft fault code. However, while I am in "soft fault" mode and cannot unlock the EAS, I am basically locked out of the system. Which takes me back to a possible bad EAS DELAY relay. Is there a way to test my EAS DELAY RELAY?? PLEASE HELP.
Hi again, the ride is normal, just the right front wheel seats a little lower than the driver side. There are not clunking or metal noises when I heat the bumps, just like rubbish bouncy feeling on the steering and body. I checked the ball joints already and they are firm with no play. Thank you.
My suspension fault comes on after I've been driving my vehicle for over 30-45 minutes. The car doesn't drop or anything but my front driver side suspension makes a weird sound when it goes over bumps or rough patches on the roud. It sounds like a whistle or something. What do you think it is?
Thank you excellent video I just purchased a 2009 ranch rover sports supercharge and the backtires are higher than the front ones . Trying to figure out what's the problem every time I press it to lowered it goes down then it goes backup By itself.
I would put a scan tool on it to see what the error code is, but it's 100% one or even both of your ride height sensors on the rear corners. Rock auto has them for reasonable prices.
Hello and happy new year. Thanks for your help a few weeks ago. I had the battery replaced and all was good for 2 weeks. My amber suspension light came on both yesterday morning and this morning. Both were cleared after a restart a few minutes later. My question is I've got a road trip starting tomorrow and I don't have time to take it to the dealership. Can I still drive it if the light stays Amber? What if it turns red? Is it still safe to drive it? Will I damage anything? Thanks in advance.
+Steve Shih Technically you won't damage anything if it turns red...BUT the suspension will most likely dump all of the air out of the system and you will be riding on your bump stops and that is a very bouncy and uncomfortable ride
Thanks so much for the speedy reply. Can I just ignore this if it were to happen once a week? Is there definitely something wrong or just a computer glitch? Sorry for these dumb questions but just being paranoid. It only says suspension fault on the display and nothing else. No "normal height only" or special programs off" .thanks again!!!
OK ONE LAST QUESTION ..THIS ALL STARTED WHEN WE GOT A FLAT TIRE AND WE HAD SPARE ON FOR ABOUT A WEEK ..THEN ONCE WE PUT REGULAR TIRE BACK ON MY HUSBAND WENT OUT OF TOWN (ABOUT 1 HR AWAY) AND ONCE HE PARKED CAR AND LATER WENT TO GET BACK IN CAR IT WOULDNT RAISE..DOES IT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH US CHANGING TIRE OR DO U FEEL ITS STILL A COMPRESSOR ISSUE ......SORRY TO KEEP ASING ALL THESE QUESTIONS..BUT THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
Hi, first of all, thanks a million for your informative videos. I have a 2008 Range Rover Sport that has a bouncy feeling on the steering while I hit bumps on the road, it feels good as long as there are not small or big bumps on the road. Any thoughts or ideas of what it could be?. Thank you.
I have the same issue with my 2012 range rover, it does not happen when i'm driving but when is in the garage or sometimes when I open any door. Any ideas?. Thanks for fantastic video
Great video! My 2008 Range Rover Supercharged is having a suspension fault. Replaced battery, alternator is good. Everything looks good on the screen readout. The button on the console to change the height when you start the vehicle has the raised and normal position illuminated, as soon as you shut the doors while it is running and try to change to normal height, it throws the fault and says suspension fault and the terrain response and the height adjustment buttons all lose illumination (except for the high range/low range which still works) The vehicle says suspension fault, and then when you start driving it says 30 mph max. You can go faster, but the engine power is reduced. The vehicle itself is at the normal height position as well as the off road screen readout shows no errors on the height sensors. Any thoughts are much appreciated.
I would go to autozone or checkers or whatever auto parts store you have in your area. Get their code reader and see what codes are being thrown. From there I can help you a lot easier. You're probably having a ride height sensor about to go out.
Yes, I have a code reader, it showed no codes. Is there a code reader out there that will help troubleshoot suspension issues? I've seen a few that claim "total dealer grade diagnostics" like the iland from Atlantic British but am having trouble getting a definitive answer from anyone. I would much prefer to find the problem rather than continue to blindly replace parts or (cringe) take to the dealer.
Hi I have a question about my 2007 Range Rover HSE. I noticed the back passenger side was a little low. I tried to raise it up. It gave me the fault-suspension will lift when system cools. Never raised. Disconnected the battery and plugged it back up. Still wouldn’t lift. Do you think it’s the height sensor? Had compressor change twice. First one was defected. Compressor is about 2-3 years old. I need to check the battery voltage. Please help with any suggestions of you can. Scared to take to 4x4 shop they are going to break my pockets!!! 🤦🏽♀️
I'm sure it's not the compressor. Some autozones, o'reilly's etc..., have good scan tools that can tell you the error code but I'm willing to bet it's the ride height sensor for that corner. You can find the sensors on Rock Auto for $ 35 - $80.
I purchased the LR3 from a mom and pop dealer, they have a good reputation in the area but not a big chain. They purchased and replaced it for me. I have looked at relays, fused, ran the little diagnostic test in one of your other videos with the 7-5-3 code but I am stuck- please help lol
I have a 2006 RR sport SC. The suspension compressor is going out. Would like to rebuild the compressor. Can you tell me where to get a genuine parts kit or a good place to get another compressor. I hear that there have been serious problems with after market compressors and having to reprogram the computer also. And who is the manufacturer of the Land Rover suspension compressor? Thanks for your help!
Jhc1229, thanks for your suggestion. checked my just bought 08 RRSS's battery and found it was in yellow. This is the day 1 after replacing the battery and seems the suspensions are OK now
Thanks for the video, the more I know the better! I've replaced a few components in my suspension, almost all of them, but continue to get an error when in "off' road height mode and I go over a bump. As soon as I go over a decent sized bump my LR3 throws a suspension error, I am thankful the vehicle does not lower at this point but I no longer have control of the suspension options until I turn the vehicle off and restart. Any help would be appreciated! Is it worth be getting the suspension tool??
Try lowering the suspension to the lowest setting and then take it all the way to the highest setting. See if that resets it to normal height. If not then it could be a ride height sensor or you may have a leak on that corner. Do you notice the compressor running more often than normal?
Jhc thanks for this video. I'm having a problem with suspension fault, HDC fault. Vehicle lean etc.. . RRS 2007. I've tried hard reset. I've changed brake light switch. Didn't help. Now I'm looking at 4x4 screen and it shows that my tyres are turned 45 degrees to the right while I'm driving completely straight. I think this may be issue as car thinks its turning but actually drives straight? How can I sort this out so my 4x4 screen will show straight wheels?
If both sides of my front suspension are down, does that typically indicate an issue with both ride height sensors or can a bad sensor on one side drop both sides of the front end?
It can be just be one side to cause the whole front end to drop. Use a scanner and it will tell you which one it is. O'Reillys, NAPA and places like that normally have one you can use for free
yes the raising and lowering is working, the other thing this when you start the car the suspension fault light will go off but once you drive for about 5 kilometers it comes back on,
Thank you. I have a suspension fault in my 2014 LR4. The rear wheels are at normal height and the front suspension is down on both sides. What does that sound like the problem might be?
Ride height sensor is your culprit. I can't tell which one it is from here but that gets you in the right direction. I would use a scan tool and it will tell you which one it is. .
@@jhc1229 Do think I’ll only have to order one sensor to try out on each side until I figure out which one is bad, or is it likely to be both since both ends of the front end are low? I’m just trying to figure out if I need to order one or two.
Hey man, I really appreciate your videos... You have no idea hom much you've saved me from going to the dealer ship. I drive a 06 sport... And the suspension fault always comes one, I think I found the culprit tire, I was wondering if you have a video on how to change the computer or censor for that particular tire, passanger side rear tire. Thanks bro. Holla at me.
I have an 06 The (right rear) goes up toooo high when left overnight causes the whole vehicle to sagging to the left side side especially the (left front) So the right rear hight seansor is the problem? I keep hearing clicking sound at night as it seems to keep going up.
I have an RRS 2015. The suspension fault light is on the dealer, who wants to charge me 1900 dollars to fix it. I went into that screen you showed. I don't see anything wrong. My screen doesn't show those green lines going across to the tires. Why? any advice on how to save 1900 dollars? Thank you
Hey bro I had a few questions about my range rover I front have any options to raise or lower my suspension it's pissing me off since I bought it I haven't been able to use any features since I got it it would be really helpful if u can throw me some tips thanks
Can you tell me who makes the suspension compressor for Land Rover? I have a 2006 RR sport SC. I need to get a rebuild kit for the compressor and want to make sure I get the right one. The kit I'm looking at is for the Hitachi compressor. Any help would be appreciated.
I can't remember exactly. Look on ebay and there are a few people selling the kits. You can input model and year and it will tell you what is compatible or not
When I change the sensor should I desconect the battery first? If I have a loose battery terminal could be a issue too? if the dt escaner is telling you a problem with the an specfic hieght sensor is true or a bad battery send that message too....thanks
@tonygarcia6700 low battery and or bad connections can throw all types of codes in that vehicle. Yes, disconnect and clean the terminals, put in your new sensor and reconnect.
JHC: I drove it for about 10 miles and its still shows rear tire down. I drive it out a bit tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for all your help. It's good to know there are people out there who help others!!
im glad i came across this video....i had a problem yesterday with my 06 rr hse...fault codes, cooling xyz i was pissed....i found it raising on its own that whole day. dropped the sensor and all. i tried your method and it say raising bit doesn't. wth! its also very low. idk what 8m gonna do besides 1st pulling out my hair.
I was at work and was so ready to go home and my Lr3 threw a code saying "transmission fault" my heart sank as I thought I was about to be spending a good chunk on a transmission. luckily I let the truck run for about 5 min. I shut it off and restarted and it was gone. I then called Land Rover and instead of having me come in and spend lots of money they were cool about it and told me just check my battery. I did and it was bad. I was all worried my truck was done and it was simply low voltage. no worries ever since.
My front failed first, the compressor made a lot of noise. Then my rear susp failed. I drove it on the bump stops for about 20 miles. I replaced the compressor, it still wont raise. Did driving it on the bump stops ruin all four corners?
Please help me!! I have a 2008 Range Rover supercharged full-size. My right suspension went out or was lower and made weird noises after I’d park and get back in and tried to drive off. Today my left side went out. So both front sides are blinking and the front end is completely lowered. I have been getting signs and lights going off. When I googled it is saying my battery is going bad. So could a bad battery make my suspension on both sides lower? Then for the first time I got a msg that said suspension will lift when system cools down. Not sure if I sure buy a new battery or the sensors 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️😩
If you start getting warning lights all at once out of nowhere all of a sudden, then yes it an be a bad battery. I would get the battery tested first. You can do it at any auto parts store for free. Do that and then let me know what it says
So far we think it’s the left strut. I can hear it whistling and blowing as the car tries to lift. $1400 later.. lol hopefully that’s all it needs 🤦🏼♀️
Thanks for the video, my suspension fault comes on right away, goes to red when I first raise it up but for only a few cycles. When driving on 4x4 info the rear driver side goes up and down and the rest don't move. Do you think it's the censor? Can I interchange the censor and see if the other side on 4x4 info acts up? Thanks Dave
Dave Lombardo That is most definitely the sensor. You can switch from the opposing side and it will do the same thing just on the side u switched it to. That will let you know it is the sensor.
I have a 05 RR hse. I had no issues until I put a new battery in. The "inactive suspension worded in green" on dash won't go away!!! After replacing battery I turn wheel all the way to left and right which took away all indicators except "INACTIVE SUSPENSION" !!! It drives normal and even all wheels on screen are even. I noticed I'm not able to control suspension and no lights are on the control panel that controls the suspension. The entire suspension was fixed a year a so ago. Rides perfect just annoying to keep see INACTIVE SUSPENSION ON DASH!!!! Any ideas how to fix this?????
Disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes to let everything clear out. If that doesn't work, go to auto zone or some place and use their scan tool if you don't have one. If you have any codes showing let me know.
Hi my 2006 rr hse 4.4 it's having problems it won't raise at all and I get a suspension fault on the dash when I start it I noticed it was real high about a week ago now it's pretty close to bump stops and I was wondering if you think it was the height sensors because all fours I almost on Bump Stops should I just put the conversion kit on it or try the height sensors thanks
You can do the conversion but you will lose the ride quality. If it was sitting high than sat itself down on the bump stops then yes, you do have a bad ride height sensor. The one that is bad is the corner that was sitting high. If you turn off the car for awhile it should reset. Once you do that, raise the vehicle up manually and the corner that is high is the culprit
jhc1229 I really appreciate your feedback let's see the thing is and raised up on its own and I drove it like that for a day I did receive the suspension fault on the dash first after I drove it for a day with it riding up is Sora level itself out but when I get in the vehicle and try to raise it up or down it does not work at all so I was just thinking cut the chase and get the conversion kit I saw one online for 500 bucks which is pretty cheap a couple other outfits what anywhere from 700 to 1300 for the kit I'm thinking that is the compressor because it's sitting very low not all the way to bump stops but it's slow and I noticed the ride is getting bumpy so it is definitely going towards the bump stops
Hi jhc1229...Thank you for the video. I have a 2011 full size HSE. For 3 weeks the right side would lower down and when I would start the car I could here the compressor turn on and raise the right side back up. I would get the "suspension fault 30mph" message which would come and go. This happened on and off for about 3 weeks. After 3 weeks of the right side raising and lowering the vehicle completely lowered. When I driving it to the shop it would raise back up when I stopped at a light and then it would intermittently happen on the drive. After I got it there it didn't happen to them for about 5 days and during the 5 days they would get several different codes. When the right side finally lowered for them they got a code that the right sensor was bad. They replaced the right sensor and everything was fine until they had it reprogrammed. Once the sensor was reprogrammed the left side then lowered. Now they are getting no diagnostic code on why the left side lowered. They told me they can't drive the vehicle to see if it will raise back up because it will ruin the suspension. They have had my vehicle for over 2 weeks. Do you have any idea why the left side would lower after changing the right side sensor and having it reprogrammed. I am completely frustrated and can't find anything on the internet telling me why this happened. I know if I have it flat bedded to a range rover dealer they are going to tell me that everything to do with the suspension system is going to have to be replaced. You know how much this is going to cost when it appears to be something simple. Please let me know if you or anyone out there has had this problem and what the solution is. Thank you so much.
Honestly they shouldn't have reprogrammed the suspension. I have changed the ride height sensors on at least 30 RR and never once have I reprogrammed anything. It's not necessary. What I would do is, start the vehicle and manually try to raise and lower the vehicle with the height switch. It probably won't do anything but that's ok. I would then disconnect both sensors along with the battery "turn on the headlights" to discharge any juice left in the system wait about 15 minutes and reconnect everything. The suspension computer should correct itself. It has known parameters it needs to be at and it will adjust accordingly. Try that out and let me know how it goes. Good luck brother.
Hi I'm having the same issue for my 2014 sport. I had my battery replaced. But this issue is still happening. Dealership is quoting for all kinds of things to fix so I left. Should I just go to a regular auto repair shop and get the height sensor replaced ?
Hey.. I have an 2011 Range Rover Supercharged... The suspension icon recently came on.. When I drive it, I can hear, air coming from the passenger side , rear wheel area.. Before, the check suspension icon popped on, I could hear a clunking noise coming from the fuel tank area.. What do you think is going on?
The clunking is probably a failure in a component of the rear suspension. I would just take it to Midas and have them check the rear suspension. As far as the air leaking out...I would have someone get inside of the vehicle while it's running and manually lower and raise the vehicle while you listen out for the sound and spray around the area with soapy water. If there is a leak, you will find it really quick. Probably drive it up on ramps so you can have a better vantage point underneath.
thanks for your input! Just bought a preowned range (my first) lol. its 2008 V6 HSE sport. I dont have the screen obviously to help with the diagnosis. how can I know which suspension fault it is? It sends that message every once in a while. what would you advice?
I'm out of the country messing around on youtube and it's 230 pm that's why...lol ..I would go to O'reillys or Autozone and ask to use their code reader. If you don't know how to use it, one of them will come out with you. They shouldn't charge you anything
@@jhc1229 No fault light and apparently no code either on scanner cause my friend tan a scan…but i heard all that can still be false, and best way is to look at the position of white lines on the screen?
Hello, I've got another question for you. What do you think of a coil conversion on a sport. I've been thinking about it, for I'd like to keep the cost down in the long run. My question is, once a conversion is done, the red suspension light stays on permanently and will this affect the dynamic response system on a supercharged model? Will the DR system detect the red light and fail to function or go into limp mode? I know both systems are completely different even though they share the same warning light. What do you make of an amber light with a display of suspension fault and nothing else? Thanks for everything again.
+Steve Shih Don't do it...LOL...A few of my friends went to the dark side with the coil overs and they have been complaining ever since. Ride quality is significantly reduced. Your DRS system will not work once you convert and the suspension fault light is due to something the computer for the suspension is seeing.
+jhc1229 thanks a lot for getting back to me. I found an Indy and he said he's got a computer that could read my onboard computer. I was wondering if he were to hook up a computer that can't read my rrs sc, will it damage anything or cause a system failure? Thanks a lot again.
jhc1229, I have an 06 RR Sport Supercharged. About 6 months ago, I had to replace my alternator and battery. It was giving too much juice and my dash went all crazy. Recently, the suspension fault comes up every time I turn the car on, but I can still change my settings. I can change it to snow/mud etc. and from high to low. I've checked the 4x4 and no issues there either. I also don't have any issues with it dropping down. Should I try to reset the ECU or is there something else I'm missing?
I would try disconnecting the battery for about 5- 10 minutes to see if that clears it up. If it doesn't, that means there is a fault but you won't know until it actually "shows" itself if that makes any sense...lol. If disconnecting the battery for a while doesn't work, I would go to an auto parts store and ask to use their scan tool. Plug it up an scan for any codes. If you do get a code let me know and I will be able to help you better. Keep me posted .....
jhc1229 oookay. I disconnected the battery and it didn't do anything. I took it to a friend who's great with cars and we couldn't find anything wrong with it either. He checked for codes, but couldn't get anything to pull up. I also had the battery and alternator checked and those are both good to go. Im thinking I need to have the dealer clear that computer out, unless there's still something I can try?
Jhc 1229, I have a problem with the rear suspension of my 2007 RRS Supercharged. Both sides of the rear are down to the bumpstops. There is no viewable gap between the rear tyres and the wheel arches! The suspension of the front of the SUV is at the standard setting and an obvious gap between tyres and wheel arch can be seen. The screen is reading "suspension fault" everytime I start the SUV. The vehicle does not respond to raising it and I can't hear the compressor. My cousin recently changed a tyre and may have erroneously closed the tailgate during the procedure. Could that have anything to do with the problem?
How do I turn off the chime for the Suspension Fault? I had a non-dealer successfully address the suspension problem, but from the electrical perspective, he was unable to turn off that chime. Any thoughts?
What does is mean if once i park it , the rear left corner drops but the other 3 corners remain the same? would this also be a ride height sensor problem or is it a leak in that rear left airbag? i also have the suspension fault normal height only message every so often, not all the time but it does come on sometime after driving 5km, sometime after 30km. Once i turn the car on, the rear left corner will rise back up and all levels out again, but drops again once its parked.
Well isn't it great to come across this today, since my suspension fault "Normal Height" warning came on. I have an 06 RR SC. So I sat and watch what lights came on and felt what the vehicle did. The only lights that come on or the offroad and standard height lights come and the access height stays off. Now when I try to go to offroad height the front end wants to move up but the rear stays. I got out to look the rear stays still no movement. With that said I did notice the vehicle doing a little listing to the right hand rear even after parking, however both rear sides leveled and aren't moving. would that be a level sensor, cross link valve or a blown bag and the vehicle went into super protection mode. I haven't heard the compressor since changing batteries (alt was changed as well), however it still tries to pump the front bags before it notices the rear not raising. Any thoughts?
Sounds like the valve. To be certain, get some soapy water and spray onto the rear bags just to double check you don't have air escaping from a small hole.
+Robert Knapp So they are even all the way across...just sitting low. Yeah you're probably not getting air back there because of a faulty valve..it's located in the right rear
+jhc1229 thanks. I went out real quick to see. front is level and rear is level and low, with no moment from the rear, it doesn't even try. I will replace the valve then check the bags. luckily, I travel on surface streets to work.
Hi, Good information on the RR suspension fault. I just replaced my ride height sensor for the right rear. My information screen shows my rear right tire is all the way down. How can I reset/adjust the tire to level standard. I bought a new battery already. Does the computer reset it over time? Please help...
I just replace the ride height sensor that I had previous bought from British Parts of Utah. The part number was scratched out, that should have been a warning. I got a new ride height sensor from Rover Land, I put it in and all is well!!
M7 2007 RR is stuck in low position on bump stop. My compressor seems to be working, filled it up by leaving the door open for 10 minutes. Then closed the door and heard hissing on right front side. Is this the suspension bag? Do I need to replace both fronts at one time? Can I drive it under 30 MPH with out damaging????
Allison Gilley You can but it will be a bouncy uncomfortable ride if you hit any bumps. You don't have to change both. Some debris could have kicked up and torn it. I would spray soapy water on it to make sure it's the bag.
Yes it is bouncy! LOL. But I should only go less than 30 MPH, correct?? I live 60 miles from mechanic. where do I spray the soapy water? It is hissing really loud right by the bag after I pump it up with door open.
James Heaven I'm currently out the country BUT...I promise you it isn't difficult at all. I actually let my son who was 12 at the time do it. I of course instructed him but it takes longer to jack the vehicle up and take the tire off than to actually swap it out. I believe there is a RR page on TH-cam that shows how to do it.
JHC1229, I have a 2007 Range Rover HSE and I have the suspension fault error message and my car will not rise. I receive a message that says rising slowly. Does this sound like the ride height sensor and can you show where to change the sensor. I would like to do it myself. I really don't want to take it to the shop. I know being a woman with this type of vehicle, they try to attack my pockets. Hope you can help.
Hey Dre, no I haven't. I have had the Air Spring bags (strut assembly) replaced on both sides to no avail....the compressor has been checked and supposedly is strong. It has been in the shop 3 days out of the week for the last month and no one can figure it out. I know there was a year of Range Rovers that had suspension issues, I thought I had did my homework before I brought it, but I must have missed something. If you figure something out, please let me know...
My 2007 Range Rover supercharge air/heat will not shut off. The blower runs constantly even when the vehicle is turned off. I had to remove the 40 fuse to get it to stop. Can you help me please? Thanks!
I have the regular RR and yes I'm now experiencing the system fault for two days now. I just ordered and received a ride height sensor for my right front passenger side. Will this help?
I have a 2007 LR3 and had tires put on yesterday.. 2 minutes after I left my dash lit up like a Christmas Tree and the HDC fault error came on and the suspension lowered. I'm thinking this just needs to be reset somehow? I actually had the suspension replaced less than 2 years ago. I am single and even though we have a local LR dealer and a European repair place I would much rather try to figure out how to reset myself.
Wells A.M. just disconnect the battery for about 5 - 10 minutes. Sometimes when the wheels are left hanging from tire changes, rotations etc...it can trigger a suspension fault.
So, I disconnected battery for about 15 minutes and within 10 minutes of driving the Christmas Tree was back on. The tires he put on the back were the same size HOWEVER they were not the same size as what is on the front-they were bigger. I'm taking it in Saturday for new tires all the way around and trying the battery disconnect again.
OK makes sense now, the different size tires can throw off A LOT of things in the vehicle. Try not to drive the that much if possible. Having mismatched sized tires is not good for the vehicle
I had the right tire go all the way down and the compressor fuse blew up a couple of times so I replaced the height sensor and now the level is fine but sometimes I get suspenssion will raise when system cool down. Some times it does not raise up and said falied suspenssion. Could it be a faulty compressor.
+Miguel Rodriguez Yes, it could be going bad especially if you are blowing fuses. It's working harder then normal trying to keep up with it's "normal" output.
My left front air bag had a hole in it. I have replaced this now, and done all the resets on the dash. The height adjustment light on the dash still won't light up. My car is a range rover 2005 td6 se model 30lt diesel.
Hi Dwayne, I have a 2008 Range Rover Sport, here is my concern, I broke the valve air on my left tire last night, this morning the car was really low, I fixed it, I turned on the car still low dashboard shows, Special Programs Off HDC, I bought a new battery not even a month ago, any advice? Thanks
Wait I'm don't know if am reading it right...You broke something on the tire or the suspension? What else is the vehicle doing or not doing like it normally should or shouldn't?
Can you answer me please I have the front right passenger side it’s lower front driver side I look about the screen on the dash it’s on good level so I should change high sensor it or not
Thanks for the info. I have that suspension fault bell coming on car rides great took it to mechanic found no problem. What could I do ? Fault comes n goes .
JHC: I just reviewed my order summary from the new ride height sensor I bought, its for the Range Rover LR3 models. This is why it will not read and adjust my back rear tire height sensor is suppose? I will try to exchange and let you know how the correct one works.
Hello, i have right rear suspension higher than the others on my lr3 2006 went to the shop they said the front level sensor is shorted or grounded , any suggestions to check it out ?
jhc1229 thanks for your quick reply, another question brakes ate spongy and takes longer distance and some times ok and i can feel ABS is acting early despite the tires are new , doses it requires bleeding or something else to do with master cylinder?
jhc1229 - good video, very helpful. I'm getting the suspension faulty warning on my 06 Sport. A few times I get the red warning and not to exceed 30 MPH and the back lowers to the stops. I restart and it's ok temporarily. On the diagnostics screen I can see that my battery is a little low. It measures 11-11.5 volts when off, and up at 14 volts when running. While watching the 4x4 screen my back left tire goes up sporadically to the top line then back down but when the fault warning comes on, my back left tire goes nuts all the way down like you said. Question is, would the battery being slightly low cause the back left tire to just appear to be out of whack throwing a crazy signal to the sensor, or is it really the sensor. What would you change first?
The sensor is cheaper than the battery. Takes about 15 minutes to swap out. That includes jacking the vehicle up and getting the tire out of the way. Normally on the screen when you see one tire going crazy like that...it is that sensor. Disconnect the battery, crack open a door and jack up the vehicle get in and out...lol. Sometimes the air dryer can be clogged or compressor could be going out but in your case with the tire going crazy I'm almost positive it's that sensor.
+jhc1229 Hey just out of curiosity, I didn't follow the part about disconnect battery, jack it up open door and get in and out. What does that potential do or reveal?
+Barry Madsen Lol I meant get in and out of swapping the sensor. If you don't disconnect the battery leave a door partially cracked open, that way when you jack the vehicle up....it won't try to level itself.
my RR after afew minutes of driving, it starts showing suspension fault, the it says HDC off and special programmes off, then it lowers itself.. i pull over then switch off.. i put it back on then return it to normal height..after around 20min.. the same thing happens. what to do?
please email me i have the exact problem with range rover sport 2006 suspension fault normal height only hdc off special program off help me please .... mremolien@gmail.com
jhc1229, Im having some serious issues with my 05, LR3. Suspension fault has been on in amber color. Yesterday the red came on and it would not rise, compress seems not to be working. It says "special programs off". I had the compressor replaced about 6 months ago. Im kinda at a loss for what to do. I checked the battery and it is good, plenty of power. Any suggestions would be appreciated.- Thanks
Discovered that the left front ride height sensor was bad after following your advise advice from this video... Thanks much for that:-) I replaced the sensor today and the suspension fault error is appearing again after I lower the vehicle and attempt to raise it again:-) Any thoughts other than the battery or alternator being the issue?
I had a repair shop swap it out here in V.A.. I will have to ask them today. If they didn't should I try to disconnect it myself, or is it too late? FYI, it's a 2008 RRS and the error message went away and only comes up when I manually lower the truck and then try to raise it again.
My Range rover HSE is pulling a suspension fault its a 2011 and my screen does not look like yours. Should i just take it to my dealership and tell them that the ride height sensor is out? how do you test your battery and alternator? I doubt I am able to change out my sensor myself. Thanks
+Steven Young Under the hood in the fuse box. It will be labeled. I think it's R7 if I'm not mistaken. If you look under the fuse box cover, the diagram will be there. You should see a pic of a vehicle with an arrow inside of it pointing up.
hey jhc I have an 06 rr sport 106k miles im about to replace my compressor I cant hear it running at all any tips before I do? after I do do I need to have it calibrated?
Dump the suspension all the way down so u can let the air out. disconnect the battery and have at it. You will not need to calibrate anything at all. It will set itself back to its normal parameters on its own.
+jhc1229 I have 06 rr sport the rear airbags are fully inflated and no matter where I set it they don't deflate, the front suspension is normal ride hight but does not change by much in the different settings. What could be the cause of that and is there a DIY solution?
jhc1229 how would you know wich heigh sensor is bad, will the red light blink above the wheel in the diagnostic section? pls let me know i need to order me a new part. thanks so much.

I would like to thank you for all your videos I have a 2007 lr3. my major problem is I'm having a message on my message center that said tire monitor fault can you give me some information about that.
Earl Shaw How long has the fault been there and when is the last time you had new tires put on the vehicle? I ask because most times when you replace tires, it's good practice to get your TPMS either "rebuilt" or replaced. If not, they go bad after awhile and will send the fault to the vehicle.
About 115,000 miles Tires not too new we did put rims on it,it's not the originals. We just had transmission flushed but he says it will run fine until it warms up. For the work he says need doing now is $3200😳
Hey, I had the suspension picture and suspension fault message come on last night, but this morning everything was normal. Went to the local AutoZone where the battery, alternator and starter all checked normal. I've been driving and nothing else has happened. I looked at the 4x4 diagram and it all looks normal. What could possibly have caused the fault code and should I be worried about this? I tried sending this in a private message but notice you don't have an email button. Thanks a lot for your help.
Hi, is it OK to raise or drop the car while driving? I just bought a used 2007 RR Sport HSE and when I have my car on park I notice it defaults to high level and when I want to drop it to low level whether while driving or on park and then drive off the car rises... it says "slow down or suspension will raise" - any ideas or suggestions? Thanks
Excellent film my friend. It has sorted out the problem I had with my L322 suspension dropping at the rear for no reason.
Thank you so much for taking the time to put this video together, homie. You are a humanitarian of sorts. I have a 2006 Range Rover HSE and the fault happened to me today after a trip to big bear and a light off road trip. You saved me a cool heartache. Thanks again and blessings to you!
No problem brother.
Thank you, so much for this video. This has been my problem for the past week or so now. Because of this video, I was able to save a ton of money by foregoing to the dealership for service.
benjamin Harris No problem brother...💪
hey first off, very informative video.is it possible for you to do a quick tutorial on how to switch out the ride height sensor. if so that would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for posting your reviews on Range Rover, I just bought one and need to get to know her...
This is the third video that advises - check your battery strength. I have a HDC fault code on my 2006 RR. Thanks for the confirmation. I will also have them check my alternator too.
I don’t daggon believe it! Lol Recently purchased one and I have so many questions to ask. Very informative video btw Thanks!
William I have the same issue did you solve the fault?
Awesome videos! I have my suspension fault come on after it's sitting for a while, and when i turn it off and back on it gets rid of the fault. It rarely comes back on again once I get driving. Doesn't sound like the sensor described in this video, do you think it's most likely the compressor? It doesn't seem like the strut either
Thank you for the great video, ordered sensor today
If your car is doing the normal ride only fault one way to fix it at and to continue to drive is to turn the car off start it again push the car all the way down into exit height mode then raise it all the way up to the top. Change your program setting to snow or sand while that's raising up once it's raised up switch control back to normal and put your height back to normal and you'll get quite of long-distance out of your ride before your fault will trip again.
How long does it take for compressor to cool. .and once it cools will vehicle raise to a drivable position
It does that to "protect" itself. Once you put a new sensor on, it will clear everything up.
Thanks bro, I was going crazy trying to find the problem.... Hight sensor 👍🏼
My questions are:
1) How can I test to see if the EAS Delay fuse is working properly?
Thank you.
The side that sits lower is bottoming out when you hit a bump.
My suspension fault comes on after I've been driving my vehicle for over 30-45 minutes. The car doesn't drop or anything but my front driver side suspension makes a weird sound when it goes over bumps or rough patches on the roud. It sounds like a whistle or something. What do you think it is?
what should i replace?
What can I do next to get the new sensor to read/show up/bring my rear tire back to standard/in range?
Hi, first of all, thanks a million for your informative videos. I have a 2008 Range Rover Sport that has a bouncy feeling on the steering while I hit bumps on the road, it feels good as long as there are not small or big bumps on the road. Any thoughts or ideas of what it could be?. Thank you.
It can be ball joints. Is your ride height normal?
I have the same issue with my 2012 range rover, it does not happen when i'm driving but when is in the garage or sometimes when I open any door. Any ideas?. Thanks for fantastic video
I would throw a code reader on it and see what faults are showing.
What is the model of your code reader? Most of the auto parts stores have a reader that digs a little deeper than most.
Hi
I have a question about my 2007 Range Rover HSE.
@@jhc1229 thank you I will go to Autozone to have them check for the code. I will let you know.
+Todd Woolley Sorry for the extremely late response. Have you gotten your vehicle taken care off?
+benjithehunter Is your vehicle riding "level" on all 4 corners?
I don’t have any suspension faults, but my right side of my 07 L320 is lower than the left side. What’s your take on that?
How can I sort this out so my 4x4 screen will show straight wheels?
pm me your email
jhc1229 Its gmworkscl@gmail.com, thanks !
@@jhc1229 thanks again, really appreciate the help
Thanks Jay, replaced the Ride Height Sensor, all done!
yes the raising and lowering is working, the other thing this when you start the car the suspension fault light will go off but once you drive for about 5 kilometers it comes back on,
Thank you. I have a suspension fault in my 2014 LR4. The rear wheels are at normal height and the front suspension is down on both sides. What does that sound like the problem might be?
Ride height sensor is your culprit. I can't tell which one it is from here but that gets you in the right direction. I would use a scan tool and it will tell you which one it is.
.
@@jhc1229 thanks much! I really appreciate the help.
Thank you

If it's raising on it's own then it a definitely a ride height sensor. It doesn't know where "level" is at so it raises and drops constantly.
Yeah these vehicles hate low voltage. They will throw all types of faults when the battery starts to get weak.
Do that and then let me know what it says
jhc1229 ok thank you.. would a obd be able to tell me if it was the sensors, compressor or leak?
Good luck brother.
thank you for a very informative video. i get the suspension fault a lot, and also that the front right tire is not monitored. what do i do?
Hi I'm having the same issue for my 2014 sport. I had my battery replaced. But this issue is still happening. Dealership is quoting for all kinds of things to fix so I left. Should I just go to a regular auto repair shop and get the height sensor replaced ?
Are you out of warranty?
DOES A FLASHING RED LIGHT INDICATE AIRBAG ISSUE? AND CAN CHANGING THE BAG ONLY WORK
thanks for your input! Just bought a preowned range (my first) lol. its 2008 V6 HSE sport. I dont have the screen obviously to help with the diagnosis. how can I know which suspension fault it is? It sends that message every once in a while. what would you advice?
I would go to an auto parts store and ask to use their code reader to see if it can pull any fault codes. Where are you located?
jhc1229 wow thank for replying sooner than I imagined:) I'm in Greenville NC
I'm out of the country messing around on youtube and it's 230 pm that's why...lol ..I would go to O'reillys or Autozone and ask to use their code reader. If you don't know how to use it, one of them will come out with you. They shouldn't charge you anything
jhc1229 I appreciate this!
mercy nagi No problem at all...If you have any more questions just drop me a line.
jhc1229 you mentioned something about a sensor that cost $50 bucks from the dealership in your video. what sensor is that?
Ride height sensor
hey how can i tell by that dash if my suspension is bad and needs to be looked at or if it’s just a calibration issue?
Do you have a fault light showing on your dash? If so, I would use a scanner and see what code is showing.
+Steve Shih As long as he doesn't "flash" it and is just reading whatever codes may be there you will be fine.
+jhc1229 you da man! What does "flash" it mean?
+Steve Shih Pretty much when it is "wiped" clean and loaded with another set of parameters.
jhc1229, I have an 06 RR Sport Supercharged.
That was fast! Thank you! I'll disconnect the battery now and let you know what I find out!
I was actually watching youtube when you messaged me....LOL. Ok, just let me know.
jhc1229 oookay.
Once you turn off your vehicle and a corner drops then you have a leaking bag
thank you for the quick reply, can you tell me if what part exaclty i would need to replace? the air spring or the whole air strut?
Also, my battery light is on and staying on, would this be a bad battery, or an alternator issue?
+jhc1229 right now both sides are level in the rear which looks like access height,
+Robert Knapp So they are even all the way across...just sitting low.
+Robert Knapp OK brother...let me know how that works out
Hi, Good information on the RR suspension fault. I just replaced my ride height sensor for the right rear. My information screen shows my rear right tire is all the way down. How can I reset/adjust the tire to level standard. I bought a new battery already. Does the computer reset it over time? Please help...
2006 Range Rover HSE 4.4 non-supercharge
V8 Engine
I would take it into a midas or some place. The dealer is very expensive. Unless you don't mind paying them...lol
Great advise! Can you post a vid saying how you change the height sensor?!
Tasha Freeman did you find a fix?? I'm having the same issue with my '06
Hey Dre, no I haven't.
If you figure something out, please let me know...
did u change the sensors?
Thanks for the information Tasha. Hopefully I don't have the same issues. I'm dropping my car off at a stealership today.
Supposedly the sensors have been checked/tested and are good. That's what they tell me anyway...
My 2007 Range Rover supercharge air/heat will not shut off. The blower runs constantly even when the vehicle is turned off. I had to remove the 40 fuse to get it to stop. Can you help me please? Thanks!
the hvac blower resistor is out
+jhc1229 how do you fix it?
+David DaCosta It's behind your glove box. There might be a few videos online to show you how to do it. Won't take more then 20 minutes
I have the regular RR and yes I'm now experiencing the system fault for two days now. I just ordered and received a ride height sensor for my right front passenger side. Will this help?
+M. Winston Nabors Why did you order that particular sensor?
I am a female working on my RR 2005, Can you video how to remove/install a ride height sensor?
Thank you! I will let you know if that works.
Wells A.M. Ok sounds good
So, I disconnected battery for about 15 minutes and within 10 minutes of driving the Christmas Tree was back on.
Are you able to adjust the height on your own? If not, I would start by checking the fuse.
I hate ordered a repair kit from overseas to try to repair the compressor myself before buying a new one or possibly buying a new strut
Thanks for posting my boyfriend wants to try to replace, do you have a video on process?
+Jewel Mason No I don't have a video on that but I promise it's not hard to do.
Do I need to check anything with air compressor with air lifting sensor.
What does it mean when display says suspension will raise when system cools ..truck is not raising on its on ..suspension fault message displays
Can you answer me please
I have the front right passenger side it’s lower front driver side
I look about the screen on the dash it’s on good level so I should change high sensor it or not
Can you raise the vehicle manually or do you have an error message on your dash?
Thanks for the info. I have that suspension fault bell coming on car rides great took it to mechanic found no problem. What could I do ? Fault comes n goes .
It will show itself soon enough. Are you able to lower and raise the vehicle?
JHC: I just reviewed my order summary from the new ride height sensor I bought, its for the Range Rover LR3 models.
This is why it will not read and adjust my back rear tire height sensor is suppose? I will try to exchange and let you know how the correct one works.
Manufacturer Part Number: LR032106
Hello, i have right rear suspension higher than the others on my lr3 2006 went to the shop they said the front level sensor is shorted or grounded , any suggestions to check it out ?
Whatever corner is HIGHER than the others, that's the one that needs to be replaced.
jhc1229 thanks for your quick reply, another question brakes ate spongy and takes longer distance and some times ok and i can feel ABS is acting early despite the tires are new , doses it requires bleeding or something else to do with master cylinder?
Check to make sure the level is good. You probably just need to bleed the lines.
jhc1229 - good video, very helpful.
+jhc1229 Thank you man. Will let you know!!
+Barry Madsen No problem brother..just let me know how it goes.
+jhc1229 Hey just out of curiosity, I didn't follow the part about disconnect battery, jack it up open door and get in and out. What does that potential do or reveal?
+Barry Madsen Lol I meant get in and out of swapping the sensor. If you don't disconnect the battery leave a door partially cracked open, that way when you jack the vehicle up....it won't try to level itself.
my RR after afew minutes of driving, it starts showing suspension fault, the it says HDC off and special programmes off, then it lowers itself.. i pull over then switch off.. i put it back on then return it to normal height..after around 20min.. the same thing happens. what to do?
+Barry Odumbe hi, did u manage the fault and how my car is giving the same error,
Barry Odumbe
please email me i have the exact problem with range rover sport 2006 suspension fault normal height only hdc off special program off help me please .... mremolien@gmail.com
marly remolien replace brake pedal switch it worked for me an it was only 12£ easy do it your self job took me 10 mins
My car it’s be same error
jhc1229, Im having some serious issues with my 05, LR3.
+Cato Garrett Where did you get the compressor from?
Discovered that the left front ride height sensor was bad after following your advise advice from this video... Thanks much for that:-) I replaced the sensor today and the suspension fault error is appearing again after I lower the vehicle and attempt to raise it again:-)
Any thoughts other than the battery or alternator being the issue?
Joseph Arnao When you replaced the sensor did you have the battery disconnected?
I had a repair shop swap it out here in V.A.. I will have to ask them today. If they didn't should I try to disconnect it myself, or is it too late? FYI, it's a 2008 RRS and the error message went away and only comes up when I manually lower the truck and then try to raise it again.
Joseph Arnao Disconnect your battery for about 5 minutes so everything can reset. Let me know if that helps out or not and we can go from there.
Will do. Thanks again!!!
Joseph Arnao No problem brother
My Range rover HSE is pulling a suspension fault its a 2011 and my screen does not look like yours. Should i just take it to my dealership and tell them that the ride height sensor is out? how do you test your battery and alternator? I doubt I am able to change out my sensor myself. Thanks
How many miles are on the vehicle?
ok. so check the compressor fuse? where is it located?
+Carlos Ramirez You have clogged lines...They can't evacuate the air on the tank
Is there any trick to removing the hoses
+jhc1229 Thx
how can i get in touch with you. in your video u said you would show the " right height sensor" for rane rover but u never did. i have 2007 hse
Dwayne Cloud Just pm me through youtube.
jhc1229 how would you know wich heigh sensor is bad, will the red light blink above the wheel in the diagnostic section? pls let me know i need to order me a new part. thanks so much.
jhc1229 I have a 2006 Range Rover sc and mysuspension fault is normal high only how can I fix this fault can u help me out
Hello I have a 2006 Range Rover sport supercharged what is the part number for the ride height sensor and is it the same part for driver and passenger side?

I would like to thank you for all your videos I have a 2007 lr3. my major problem is I'm having a message on my message center that said tire monitor fault can you give me some information about that.
Earl Shaw How long has the fault been there and when is the last time you had new tires put on the vehicle? I ask because most times when you replace tires, it's good practice to get your TPMS either "rebuilt" or replaced. If not, they go bad after awhile and will send the fault to the vehicle.
I so needed to hear this....

Could have been just a hiccup. If it's not throwing a constant fault code then you will actually have to wait until it does to see what it is.
Thanks
you can raise or lower it whenever you want...BUT If you go to fast while driving the suspension will default back to normal ride height.

Nansen Hopar Hold on to the down button and it will lock it self at the lowered position. You can also just leave a door not closed properly
