  • Thor: Ragnarok is finally here! Not everyone loved Thor 2 as much as they seem to be loving Thor 3, but it wasn't all bad. Here's everything right with Thor: The Dark World.

    I loved this movie for two reasons:
    A) Darcy. Darcy is my favorite MCU character.
    B) All the little references to Norse Mythology that only we Mythology fans will get and that don' really have any effect on the movie. (I only wish they had made the dark elves actual dwarves. In my Homeregion, pretty much every tale and legend is somehow connected to dwarves)
    Ah, and also 10:05 because I watched it with my brother :-)

Every time I think of Thor: The Dark World, I think of that scene. I don’t think the movie deserves the hate it does. Iron Man 2 still holds the spot for the weakest MCU film, IMO. Then to learn that not only you are adopted but you are also the monsters everyone fears. I don’t know about you but that would send anyone into a tailspin. And not to mention that you thinking that he stole you away like another war relic and that the man you called father never loved you. And what about the woman you called mother? Thinking does she ever loved or care for you? Yea Loki is to blame for what he did but got to admit Odin had a hand in it too.

      Creed Luvari They don't realize the Dark Elf villain is not really the main villain. Loki is the main villain. He took advantages of the events to deceive everyone. Then he fakes his death and pretends to be Odin. My main flaw with the movie is Darcy is annoying. She got more screen time in this movie. The Warriors Three and Sif were barely in thus movie. I agree the Dark Elf villain is weak but I didn't mind it because Loki is a better villain. Some of the comedy does't work like seeing Skellan nude. I still like the movie though.

      This movie was better than Ragnarok to me, but its hard to compare the two...one is a superhero movie with emotional depth and a well structured story...and one (Ragnarok) is a straight comedy that eliminates everything that made this movie good and instead tries to emulate GOTG.

      @borjankosarac3645 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Firstly, General Zod's motives (if we're talking "Man of Steel" and not "Superman II") ARE explained - he was genetically engineered to be the perfect soldier, and Krypton is everything to him, so he'll go to any length to restore it.
      Secondly, part of the consequence of integrating Loki into the film (because of his post-"Avengers" popularity), were reportedly that some scenes giving Malekith more depth were cut; there was actually some backstory involving the loss of his family, which might have been what was driving him to return the world to darkness... But even then, I don't mind Malekith being one-dimensional evil if it was done WELL - and unfortunately, in the movie he's given little to stand out; comparatively, in the comics Malekith was SCARY EVIL, a despotic monster who the dark elves lived in fear of and one of Thor's most despicable foes. Further, in the comics his right-hand man Algrim/Kurse - who was basically just undying loyal to his cause in "The Dark World" - was the one who finally killed him after Malekith proved to Algrim that he had zero honour; Algrim in the comics, being a noble-hearted soul, would become a staunch ally to Asgard henceforth.
      So, no... it's not the fact of it that is the problem; it's the execution, IMHO.

    I also really like this movies. It’s got awesome combat scenes and the architecture around Asgard, vanaheim and Svartlefheim is intricate and wonderful. Also malekith is a cool villain. He’s not supposed to be strong and is only credited as being the most ruthless of the dark elves. He’s more of a leader and a tactician than a fighter as you can see in his fight against Frigga. His main goal is to get the aether so he can achieve power without becoming Kursed which he thinks he’s above. The dark elves just appear really interesting to me especially in their military style and how they fight. All their weapons have a sinister tone to them and they prefer to use blasters rather than melee and when they use melee attacks through the kursed it’s seen as a sacrifice rather than an honor. Also you have to ask yourself if the dark elves actually designed their ships specifically for invading Asgard from how they easily maneuver and cut through their defenses and buildings

      I took this to mean people in his life, in general, find it hard to love him because. You know, the betrayal and the trying to take over Earth thing. Not that Loki, as a character, is hard for us, the fans, to love.

    I love the concept about Asgard being known of across the Galaxy. With The Collector’s bow, he definitely knows about them to bow in respect. Just that the Asgardians are such a powerful force, that not even the Mad Titan himself was brave enough to steal the Tesseract personally

    I think you mean metaphor win, if it was a simile he'd have said "you must think I'm LIKE a piece of bread". Since he didn't use like or as it's a metaphor.

    I think it speaks to the quality of Hemsworth and Hiddleston's casting and acting that when I was reading actual tales of Norse mythology not too long ago, I could see every one of the things Thor and Loki say and do as being said and done by them.
