@@misterlinux9290 Honestly, I'd chalk it up to the fact like 70% of the final script was cut to fit it into game format and nobody ever had an editor on standby for the transition to what's basically three fantasy books into a game's format. So much of what I like about it comes down to how it humanizes both routes and I genuinely think, as the plethora of fanfics and analyses on Tumblr have proven, there _is_ something really special if one actually cares enough to crack it open. It's often compared to SMT V in the sense of "excellent gameplay and bad story", but SMT V's fandom discussing it beyond being a game pretty much died overnight while FE Fates still inspires a ton of fanart and fanfics to this day. It just hits different, and I speak that as somebody who was on the Tumblr side for a good chunk of time for it where I saw a TON of analysis and appreciation for it. I think the reason why FE Fates has the negative reputation it does despite fundamentally having _so much to say_ is because Fates as a story is fundamentally hostile to its own format. I've realized that upon replaying Heirs of Fates and actually slowing down to sound the narrative out of my head; moments that make _perfect_ sense on reflection (like Soleil and Ophelia's warp stones, which were actually to be called in when they wanted to go back to Ylisse) seeming like an asspull out of nowhere, despite making objective _sense_ in the scheme of things. This extends as far as FE Fates's other plot devices like the crystal ball that reveals Garon's true form, or it glancing over a LOT of important details that only really fall into place after a deeper read (part of the reason why the story seems black and white is that it's part of why it's so _wrong_ to begin with; the fact that _any_ of this is like this when these are people's lives being played with is a sign something has gone _horribly_ wrong). Part of why it fascinated me so much is because I was always able to infer what it was _trying_ to say, but FE Fates shows such hostility to its own format as an FE narrative that it's simply just not going to click with most people, which is not aided by the sheer cacophony of other issues: 1) Each route is a game in itself, originally had to buy them individually 2) Only Conquest and Birthright have physical copies 3) Revelation is DLC 4) Lore is scattered through small asides and supports 5) Supports vary depending on which game you get and which characters you support 6) Players can only unlock supports if they use characters together in battle (ergo viability in battle can play a big part in that) 7) There's no ready indication which have lore or which are mostly humor or character skits 8) Ergo, if someone does not like a character for their initial personality or battle viability and any supports unlocked don't help dissuade that? That person often will just not even try to see if there's more because as far as they are concerned that's all the character is and will be 9) Characters can and will die not only through the player's fault but the story 10) The stories layers become way more apparent reading through All The Routes and seeing how things interconnect - that is discouraged with the whole release plan _and_ the routes themselves being obtuse and having a particular order (implicitly Birthright, Conquest, Revelations, Heirs of Fate + Before Awakening DLCs) 11) The routes vary in length and a player often needs the plot spelled out to understand what plot points matter or why certain design decisions were made and it's not "Inherently bad writing" 12) This also includes Supports, Paralogues, the 2nd Gen, and DLCs; this is a lot 13) Explanations don't always help because not everyone deep reads. I have one friend's friend who refused to do any S-Supports because the Deeprealms creeped her out, another who claimed Rhajat's only point was stalking, but also didn't do her parents' supports OR UNLOCK ANY OTHER 2ND GEN CHARACTERS TO GET MORE ABOUT HER VIA SUPPORTS Point is, FE Fates fascinates me as much as it does because it fundamentally has a _brilliant_ story underneath the hood, but it's such a fundamental failure in terms of actually trying to communicate that narrative properly. It's why it's the polar opposite for me versus, say, Danganronpa; one is a total raucous mess that genuinely infers what it's saying for deeper layers, the other is superficially well-executed but fundamentally has nothing worth talking about (you think Fates's anime cheese is bad? Look up "Kotoko Danganronpa" on TH-cam. Curse my name later, I've suffered that garbage series for four years and all I got was this stupid mental scar from stalking). And as much as Fates's story is memed upon, well... let's just say there's a reason the fandom STILL talks about the game and AO3 has almost 10K fanfics for the continuity total. There wouldn't be something worth discussing if there wasn't something inherently interesting under the hood IMHO. But that's just what I feel from this game. All I know for real is that the game gave me a lot more joy than most games I've played in my life, and given how controversial the game is, it's so refreshing to see a video that has nothing but enjoyment of the game, even from its own borderline self-depreciative stance on it.
@@TheAxeLordOfFire One story element that made me think about what could've been is CQ Azura's plot to put Garon on the throne. I thought it's actually a good Chekhov's gun for CQ, considering what it does(n't) do in the prologue chapters, but things like it being the only justification for Corrin/Azura to invade Hoshido are unsatisfying despite being somewhat sensible. What else are they gonna do, tell the royals to stage a rebellion?
@@dutczar5436 And it's even more frustrating because when you actually take a gander at the dilemma that Corrin found himself in within Chapter 15... his reasoning actually makes _sense._ He went back to Nohr hoping to break the cycle of violence and save his family from the corruption, but - and I actually _really liked_ this part - it proves too thick for him to puncture without worrying about a sword of damocles down his throat. Corrin genuinely begins worrying if his well-intended choice was bad, and ends up learning with Azura that Garon was dead for ages and Anankos was puppeting its corpse... and between the prospect of rebelling and likely dooming the world against an entity that can no-sell the _Grim Yato_ and a family of cyclical abuse and desperately in denial, Corrin does the realpolitik thing and agrees to save Hoshido... but he doesn't excuse it or see it as "necessary," doing what he can to help people. Xander even notes in Endgame it's the one true form of justice one can hope for in this world, and it's a major reason why I love Corrin as a character. They get unfairly lambasted as "bland," but they lose half of their family in most of the routes and loses a LOT just to get where they are, plus is an archetypical "high Charisma, low Wisdom" character, which I admittedly relate to. And it's why I love Fates and even enjoy what we got, because I and many others see how it could've been amazing. And the saddest part is... you really don't need to change almost _anything_ to have that impact that, as you said, was lacking due to the game's clunky writing. Stuff like the whole Valla thing can be explained using 'V' and 'A' as a shorthand for the kingdom of Anankos and saving the crystal ball for the boat ride with the royals, which would give them doubts about the shock of the realization that have payoff in endgame. So much of Fates story logically interconnected with inferred knowledge but it had absolutely _no_ editors on stand-by and that's such a shame, because the core of the story when one discounts the scuff is only really rivaled by FE4's core... and unlike Fates, FE4 almost certainly had an editor. It's why we love it so much; hard to think of a game that has so much untapped depth yet seemingly sabotages itself at all points in being cohesive in that depth. It makes the act of actively engaging with what's there so fun, and I really do hope more people eventually see with a remake that expands on it that it's not really the story's problem, it's the fact the writers severely slimmed down a lot of the core juicy meat and inadvertently left a lot of fat in it.
@@dutczar5436 well actually the crystal ball Azura uses to reveal Garon's true nature could've also been shown to the royal siblings and in that same scene, Azura claims that Leo can also use it, just have Leo use it in front of his siblings. There's such an easy solution but nah let's go send an entire country to the sword just to get one slimeball on a throne... I honestly would've preferred if Nohr just had a good reason for invasion or something like that.

Honestly, a deep dive is sorely needed in this fandom. Most people think only say "haha Fates story bad" or just quote some bloke on Reddit's essay on it, but none of them are actually fans or care about understanding the work as a collective whole. It feels like more people are caught up in the impression of what it is than what it _actually_ is, because of how contextually-driven Fates in particular is with looking beyond your PoV as a whole. I blame the "Fire Emblem never had good stories!" crowd for that. It _kills_ me whenever someone tries to downplay the series's narrative or act like any depth is nonexistent eveb when there is effort put into making sure that gameplay and story is tied into every entry, and if the series truly never cared about the story, or if the story was always mid, then it would've effected the gameplay too. It's so isolating to be a fan of Fates's story and see the many threads of depth and nuance in ways most of the fandom just dismisses outright, and I wish people could enjoy both aspects of Fire Emblem instead of just one.
this video is a delight I am surprised that it exists, but is a delight I appreciate all the little editing quirks you put for sometimes exactly 1 frame and caused me to mindlessly rewind the video until I can pause at the right time

Going by the title alone, I thought this was going to be a deep analysis of the game's story and how the gameplay doesn't reflect the themes it tries to present... and I was right. Always thought it was a weird narrative decision to make the protagonist an 87 year old warmonger. Nice to see somebody else talking about this.

This entire video absolutely slew me! Playing Corrin as an old man, beautiful. A completely chaotic storytelling style, delightful! You won me over. I hope you do the other two plots, they're both insane!
Now I’m imagining how insanely funny and epic it would be if he covered Birthright and Revelations. Like what if in Birthright, Ryoma is alive for most of the game, but then when we get to the chapter where he actually joins, the joke of him being dead in every reality from this video gets carried over into that one and he is just dead for the rest of the adventure. As for Revelations… I don’t know, I was gonna say something about having the plotlines from the Birthright and Conquest vids connecting in some way, but that probably wouldn’t work now that I think about it.
When you talked about chars dying I thought this must've been an Iron Man or something but I refuse to believe you used Arthur and he managed to survive without needing a reset. Also, this shit's hilarious.
What are you talking about? It's literally the same explanation given in the game, only replace "First Dragons" and "Astral Plane" with Digimon and Digital World. Quoth the wiki's script on Chapter 3: Corrin: What just happened?! Where…are we? Lilith: *This is a world parallel to the one in which you live, Lord/Lady Corrin. It is known as the astral plane.* Corrin: How were you able to get us here? Lilith: *The First Dragons have granted us the power to inhabit this dimension. Under their protection, we are safe here. Oh! Allow me to prepare a place for you to rest…* (A treehouse appears) Corrin: Did… did you just use a Dragon Vein? Lilith: *Yes. The power of the First Dragons flows freely in this realm. You should know that space and time operate differently here as well…* Corrin: I have so much to learn… Is there anyone else here? Lilith: No, we are alone. There’s no one left here… Corrin: I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to invoke any bad memories. Lilith: It’s OK, Corrin. I’m not lonely as long as I have you in my life. Now…you should get some rest. The whole extradimensional hierarchy thing is well known in Digimon, where Digimon are less digital monsters so much as "higher-dimensional constructs interpretable by data". That... basically is what the Astral Plane is, as the First Dragons have all ascended with it as a result. Like I keep saying, all this information is here in the work, but it's often very "blink-and-you'll-miss-it", which is not often helped by how much Fates's format... struggles.

10) The stories layers become way more apparent reading through All The Routes and seeing how things interconnect - that is discouraged with the whole release plan _and_ the routes themselves being obtuse and having a particular order (implicitly Birthright, Conquest, Revelations, Heirs of Fate + Before Awakening DLCs)
11) The routes vary in length and a player often needs the plot spelled out to understand what plot points matter or why certain design decisions were made and it's not "Inherently bad writing"
12) This also includes Supports, Paralogues, the 2nd Gen, and DLCs; this is a lot
13) Explanations don't always help because not everyone deep reads. I have one friend's friend who refused to do any S-Supports because the Deeprealms creeped her out, another who claimed Rhajat's only point was stalking, but also didn't do her parents' supports OR UNLOCK ANY OTHER 2ND GEN CHARACTERS TO GET MORE ABOUT HER VIA SUPPORTS
Point is, FE Fates fascinates me as much as it does because it fundamentally has a _brilliant_ story underneath the hood, but it's such a fundamental failure in terms of actually trying to communicate that narrative properly.
@@dutczar5436 And it's even more frustrating because when you actually take a gander at the dilemma that Corrin found himself in within Chapter 15... his reasoning actually makes _sense._
He went back to Nohr hoping to break the cycle of violence and save his family from the corruption, but - and I actually _really liked_ this part - it proves too thick for him to puncture without worrying about a sword of damocles down his throat.
Hi this is my 2nd time rewatching this video. You're clearly a talented editor and that style goes well with your narration. But what I like the most about your editing is that you can tell that it's coming from a place of love for the game you're covering. It screams passion and it's always a pleasure to find a creator like that.
I'm looking forward to the next episode of Damoople where we hook'em , we cook'em !
@@Doos Wait, you rewatched this twice?
I don't wanna scare you, but I would visit the doctor after that level of exposure. The fish carry some weird pathogens when you hook and cook this much.
Thank you for the views and encouragement however!
This was hilarious and such high production quality!!! Thank you for the laughs and can’t wait for more!
But this video îs Boring since everyone just comments how funny it is and nothing else. Which proves how Boring it id
Grumpuh suddenly having the Marth fit for the final boss was crazy
Mythic youtube recommendations pull
Fe fates community would’ve loved bro
Only 2:30 min in and I’m so impressed by the writing and editing. Subbed
Bro Idk what is it about this video but every line is gold. It must be the “professional tone” while saying that Nohr has Guatemala’s economy, that got me, describing Iago like “you know what, F that guy” “multiple times”
Def adding this to my favorite list hahaha
not the july 1st calendar lmaooooo, the editing is godtier
Grumpuh, when fighting the ninjas "Oh no no caltrops my biggest weakness", but nice to see that he got some shoes at the end.
It has been said a amount in the comments here but fantastic editing.
Love the joke at 17:09 about Kaze makes great SM64 mods, it shows that you are able to make jokes for yourself and others will laugh, bc man you got me.
THIS IS SO HIGH QUALITY! Great video!
I love Grumpa. He’s my spirit animal.
I thought this was going to be a legitimate serious deep dive into this game's story.
But in reality I got something MUCH better 😂
This might just be my new favorite Fire Emblem video. I love the Arthur appreciation, best character hands down
Ewww
I can't believe they got big ass birds in this game
AND tanks???????
Your editing and comedic delivery is so on point man, you've won a sub from me in one video. Hope I can see more!
this video is a delight
I am surprised that it exists, but is a delight
I appreciate all the little editing quirks you put for sometimes exactly 1 frame and caused me to mindlessly rewind the video until I can pause at the right time
Amazing video! Keep up the good work chief!
Okay this is like, the 3rd time I've watched this. I hate when youtube recommends me videos I already watched. So I'm leaving a comment for myself if I think I've seen this video again.
I think commenting will ever-so-slightly raise the odds of it landing in your recommended again.
Thanks for the extra views and comment! But for your mental health, I would avoid anything that would set up a fourth viewing of this nonsense.
I'm happy to add to watch time and drive up engagement 😂
But lately TH-cam has been on a kick of exclusively showing me stuff I already watched.
The filter chapter line is so real I remember struggling so hard with that lne
Thus is way too good a video to only have 700 likes. Algorithm comment. I hope to see more max0r videos at 0.5 the speed in the future ;)
0.5x max0r is such a perfect way to describe this loooool
I love it, max0r isn't for me personally, his videos make me feel the way I imagine a 45yr old feels when they watch "21st century humor" type shit. this is much more manageable and (to me) more fun
Love your editing style, keep it up!
Stop kid
I loved the part where Iago said: "You know, FUCK that Grumpuh guy, am I right?" and Iagoed all over the place.
Unironically an amazing video, top tier editing and constantly funny. Love to see it
I just found this channel, and brother, I'm in love.
The best part is i never finished Conquest, so at the end i have no idea what is made up and what isent bc your editing is hella convincing most of the time! xD
15:49 ...Was Azura's sprite supposed to be walking along with you and you blocked her out 'cause she's dead?
That is some dedication to the bit and I respect the hell out of you for it.
Now that you noticed that, you'll notice the several other times I had to do it
This video's been recommended to me constantly for the past couple days and I finally checked it out: Very much worth it. The Editing and writing is Golden.
I am also gay to ensure my worst enemy is never born
An effective tactic to be sure!
Thats some Kronos behaviour.
I enjoyed this video.
I actually took out of the 144p backround audio and actually watched it at 720p.
i'm in genuine tears ohh my god this is the best fe vid on the web. the character profiles sent me to heaven
Becoming gay for the sole reason of preventing kana’s existence is the funniest thing I have ever seen
This was one of the most entertaining vids I've ever seen. The editing is amazing and you kept up the fast paced comedic timing for over 40 minutes. Definitely subscribing. Im shocked that you don't have more subs. Im looking foward to more content like this from you!
This feels like a more comprehensible Max0r video. In a good way, mind you.
i love the editing in the video, thank you for making the best video on fates ive seen
That is the best thumbnail I've seen in my life
Damoople, This is awesome! I subscribed because I want to see more!
Shadow wizard money gang and the turtling strat mayhem got me good,
never fucking heard of you
youtube will not stop recomending this vid.
gonna go ahead and watch it even though i have zero interest in fe fates.
Okay its pretty good
Also was rewatching this and just noticed the park ranger hat on the faceless. lol.
This is peak content please upload more of this type of stuff.
This was very well edited and enjoyable!!
Maxor level comedy here, amazing vid
this was so hilarious... from naming him grandpuh to the reveals that really highlight how twisted the plot in this series is, it was a great watch
my man. i thought you were a big creator i had just never heard of based off of the effort and editing in this vid. you've got something special here! subbed ❤️ great video, so happy to see people talking about fates lol
Man, its like you and excelblem flipped the joke here.
The difference between somebody playing for the memes vs. somebody who genuinely loves the game. Both lead to comedy gold either way.
I just found your channel and the editing on this is insane and the humor on point. You probably put more time and effort into this than the game's developers lmao
This was hilarious 😂😂😂 and well edited too. I hope you channel keep growing, you deserve more recognition for your work.
What’s the music at 12:10? It sounds familiar. Like attack on titan or something.
Christ and Combat - Powerwolf
@@Damoople Thx!
Honestly though a Digimon version of Pokemon Conquest, which was in turn basically a Pokemon version of Fire Emblem, sounds sick
I've been watching this video as I progress the story and I had to withhold a scream of agony when I realized I gave up a pair of boots by sparing Shura.
Found this video and channel out of nowhere and clicked because of the thumbnail. Fantastic work, subscribed.
This entire video absolutely slew me! Playing Corrin as an old man, beautiful. A completely chaotic storytelling style, delightful! You won me over. I hope you do the other two plots, they're both insane!
Ive never heard of you before, but god damn am i glad that TH-cam reccommended this to me a few days ago
Im ashamed i havent watched it sooner.
absolutely love the insane bit of ironman azura just not having any plot relevancy
Now this is some of quality content for me to enjoy
I really do hope you do the other routes, this was fucking hilarious!
This was so damn entertaining ! Phenomenal work 👏
Holy shit this video is so well edited and written good job man, wish u more views
When you talked about chars dying I thought this must've been an Iron Man or something but I refuse to believe you used Arthur and he managed to survive without needing a reset.
Also, this shit's hilarious.
He died four times but that went against my narrative.
@@Damoople i love arthur but he's allergic to staying alive XD
Bruh I've been trying to succinctly explain Fire Emblem to my friends but "Rock Paper Scissors on anime graph paper" is literally Fire Emblem.
The funniest part is Lilith being a digimon and My Castle being the Digital World makes more sense than any attempted explanation the game gives.
What are you talking about? It's literally the same explanation given in the game, only replace "First Dragons" and "Astral Plane" with Digimon and Digital World. Quoth the wiki's script on Chapter 3:
Corrin: What just happened?! Where…are we?
Lilith: *This is a world parallel to the one in which you live, Lord/Lady Corrin. It is known as the astral plane.*
Corrin: How were you able to get us here?
Lilith: *The First Dragons have granted us the power to inhabit this dimension. Under their protection, we are safe here. Oh! Allow me to prepare a place for you to rest…*
(A treehouse appears)
Corrin: Did… did you just use a Dragon Vein?
Lilith: *Yes. The power of the First Dragons flows freely in this realm. You should know that space and time operate differently here as well…*
Corrin: I have so much to learn… Is there anyone else here?
Lilith: No, we are alone. There’s no one left here…
Corrin: I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to invoke any bad memories.
Like I keep saying, all this information is here in the work, but it's often very "blink-and-you'll-miss-it", which is not often helped by how much Fates's format... struggles.
What the hell is this onslaught of comedic gold ?
this was a very well edited, fun video! I hope you make more
Big Ram vibes, in all the best ways. This was hilarious and right up my alley. Thanks, enjoy the sub.
As someone who’s first game was Fates, this video is something incredible
Love it
First video I ever seen of this channel, instantly loved it, ya gots a new sub.
I must concede that Ulyeses has been beaten. Bravo, IS. I pass the torch onto you

Oh my gosh even the thumbnail was foreshadowing who dies in this playthrough this guy is incredible
5:28 maybe nobody would care, but never expected anyone to feature faminecon in a video
I just realized that Rinkah really gave Corrin serious brain damage.
Love the video editing in this
