    Great job and great video. I want to thank you so much for showing the step by step.
    It's amazing to me that they designed it so that the average person gets dealer deferred. I bought 1, cut out a 1' sqare, bolted a new pannel to the bottom but already went through 2 drain plugs

    Great tutorial, I just did the service myself. Are there any center jack points in the front or rear? I wanna put it up on jack stands, and use the door side jackpoints prevents me from doing that. I didn’t see that rubber jack point in the center front that most cars have

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that's a huge problem in this case and there's not an easy way to install jack stands. Lots of Mercedeses have the middle jack plastic point under the engine but that's also kinda dangerous as the car can lean on one side unexpectedly. Best way is to try to put the jacks somewhere close to the mounting bushings of the control arms and their bolts. Those bolts are very strong just be careful not to damage them. Same on the rear or around the rear differential. But unfortunately on this car the rear Differential Carrier is Plastic and you may in danger there. Sorry that I can't really show you where as I don't have the car in front of me. Thanks 👍

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe the dealerships extract all like this but remember you will have the nasty debris in oil all the way on the bottom that does not going to be able to be sucked so I believe this is not the preferred way to change your oil. Using the drink plug is still the best way. Thanks 🤞💪👍

    Hello, and thank you for the great video my x254 engine is exactly the same but I am having a hard time getting the filter element out of the canister. It appears to be clipped in. It spins and moves around but I cannot get it out it almost seems like there's a special tool required to slide down into the filter. Can you describe how you got the element filter out of the canister? Thank you in advance very much.

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need to pull hard to get it out. Thanks 👍

    • @DM-qe3ci
      @DM-qe3ci 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When I had the canister out with the element in it I actually put the canister in a vise and pulled as hard as I could while rotating it and moving it around. It is definitely clipped in. If I take a long screwdriver and run it all the way to the bottom of the filter I can feel a spring-loaded mechanism. Almost like it's an onboard built into the canister thermo valve for oil Flow regulation. Similar to the high quality oil filters. We used to call it a check valve that keeps the oil in the filter for numerous start and stops. That's what it feels like some kind of a spring-loaded mechanism in there. Perhaps next time you pull one out you could take a closer look at that. Thank you very much

    So I bought this car new and I'm now at 1,000 miles. When do you suggest doing the very first oil change? 5,000 miles or earlier?

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have had a few German cars that I bought Brand New and I never followed the Factory Recommended time frame for the oil! I actually had the pleasure to meet a very old mechanic many years ago and he told me that the best Break-in procedure for a Brand new engine is to change the oil several times before getting to 5000 miles! So I did an experiment also quite a few years back and started doing the changes myself at First one at 500 Miles. Ooo man the oil that came out was very nasty! Metals and all kinds of other stuff! Apparently this is normal because all metal parts are settling with each other. So Next oil I did was at 1500 Miles and again - Nasty Oil! Imagine Not Changing this Nasty Oil for 10000 miles like Mercedes advices?! Technically they are guiding us to destroy our engines prematurely so that we are in constant need to buy a new car every 5 years! And I do see an Uptick of the new generations of Mercedes Engines coming through the shop already destroyed at 70000 miles! So the Old Mechanic mentioned all those things with the metals and dirt and why a new engine needs these few oil changes adding that this way, you will create the best possible conditions for a new engine to last a VERY Long time! Then the Next oil change I did was at 5000 miles and I started to see the difference immediately! Engine had more power and was much quieter than other engines with similar mileage! I started doing this as an extremely important procedure and on the several new vehicles that I have had and Ooo man I just cannot explain my joy when I hear how good these engines run after the Break-in period 5000 Miles when I did the 3 Oil Changes before this! Something to keep in mind - The Better care you take of your car The Longer and Better it will serve you! So it's up to you but since you missed the 500 mile, I would do now 1st Oil Change at 1000, then 2nd at 2500 and next at 5000 and after this all Regular Changes at 5000! Recommended Oil from me would be 5W40 Liqui Moly Molygen! This Oil is amazing and I see it almost every day! What I use on my cars is what I recommend here in the channel! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any other questions! Enjoy your New Mercedes! Thanks!

    do you know where the point is to lift the car up with a jack I know the 4 points by the wheels but is there anything i can use in the front to lift so i can put the stands in those points

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, you can only use the plastic square looking pads behind the front wheel and before the rear wheel that are right under the rocker panels on the sides. They are clearly visible because that's the only place you can lift this car under. As far as jacks go you are going to need to find another place because you would be using the pads for the manual jack. Possibly I always look for some big bushings around the frames as they only will hold the weight of the car on jack stands... Write to me again if you need pictures... Thanks 👍

    Hi, does this engine not use 0W-20 oil as stated in the manual?

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Scientifically drivers need to use the proper oil weight according to the climate they live in. If you look online for the oil weight charts which are related to temperature you will realize what I am talking about. 0W20 weight oil is extremely thin oil and will not protect the engine metal parts due to it's properties made to be used in very cold climate therefore being so thin. Another problem is that these turbo engine destroy engjne oil very fast due to the high temperature they achieve when working therefore demanding heavier weight oils to be used. You can consult with some smart mechanics and they can explain to you what I am talking about. Not to mention that what we see lately is that the manufacturers don't want your vehicles to last and in this way making you use the wrong types of oils so that your engine gets destroyed faster... Thanks and I hope I have been helpful to you...

    • @projectathos

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes but Mercedes also mentions that you can use the heavier oils according to temperatures in your local climate where you live. The oil weight for my climate here in Atlanta is in the range of 5w30 to 5w40 and oils like 0w20 here will cause premature damage and eventually destroy the engine. 0w20 range is always recommended for cars driven up North and so forth... Check the Oil viscosity weight and temperature Chart recommendations online to understand... Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍

      As long as the maintenance is done on time and with the appropriate approved by the manufacturers fluids and parts and also you have the paperwork to prove it NO ONE in USA can refuse you warranty for any reason! There are actually laws protecting the consumer for this reason!

      Yeah unless you live in the North Pole using 0w20 weight anywhere will simply destroy your engine prematurely! Especially with all that extra heat coming from the turbo! Actually here for US the oil recommended for this vehicle is 5w40. I have seen what this 0w20 water looks like when you open it after 5000 miles and let me tell you - it ain't pretty! I would never use this 0w20 myself... Also you need to understand that you have to adjust the oil weight according to your climate conditions meaning temperatures at your location by choosing the proper oil for those temperatures.
