Shoestring, you can’t fool me. You’re sitting at home in your living room surrounded by a bunch of Bob Ross paintings! I see a bunch of happy mountains and a couple happy little trees. Only thing missing is a happy little cabin. LOL...!
    Keep on keeping on, Mark!
    Cheers!

William Alexander was way better. If you do some research you will find even his phrases 'happy little trees and happy mountains' were even stolen from WIlliam Alexander.

Lost foot 2006 accident at a fire scene. Have a bionic prosthetic but the computer that changes the footfall isn’t fast enough for irregular ground. Toured 49 states by Rv travel, but irregular ground still presents a problem that could lead to breaking a bone in the stump. I still get around, but at 75 years old, I’m willing to see less of the ultra wild while being able to travel. Put 30,000 on a Jeep before purchasing a 26’ Rv to continue seeing the country. It currently has 87,000 miles on it. Have been to 59 National Parks and countless State Parks. I’ve also dealt with having type one diabetes for 61 years. I’ll leave the side treks to the likes of Shoestring and stay mobile enough to enjoy the rest of the country. I don’t need to climb El Capitan to marvel at its majesty from the ground level. After dipping my cane into all the Great Lakes, both Oceans, the Gulf, drive 90% of Route 66, the entirety of the Alaskan Highway, most of Canada’s Provinces, and a dip into Mexico, I’ve only a few Bucket List destinations remaining before I attempt to repeat most of the trip a second time. My plan is to slide sideways into my grave saying “Boy what a Trip.”

I got a reply from Willie Nelson today... asked me to email him. Whoo hoo! I hung out around him and his drummer's kids in the 70's a lot. I might have told you about Willie doing a video of his song "I Woke Up Not Dead Again Today". He did it just before the pandemic. I'd better take him up on the offer...Anyway, I see why Alaska is special. In many ways. I hope the government takes good care of it. I don't like to see Alaska messed up.

Kewl, ‘String! You enjoy a freedom only wild animals experience.
Talking about cold: In 1985, it was -28° F at Flotation, NC (Spruce Pine), on the Clinchfield Railroad. On train number 94, the dispatcher told my crew via radio that “you have to work Flotation”, an industry track. My poor old brakeman, who had endured many years on the railroad as a yard switchman since WW2, said it was the coldest time he had ever experienced. After we worked the industry, we couldn’t even get enough air on the rear of the train to make a brake test. So, we set off 65 cars in the siding at Toe River and left them there, and with 30 remaining cars on our train, the engines could barely pump enough air to get the required minimum of 75 lbs to make a brake test. Unforgettable cold weather that may never again be experienced in our lifetimes.

      Negative 27° that night .

Great footage, Mark! You did good with the zoom - was real steady. What a beautiful place! I definitely couldn't deal with the short days and frigid temps - I go nuts living in MA, lol, let alone AK! Beautiful scenery, though. I was up there in the summer of '87 - my grandma brought me on a 2 week tour of the place. Went as far north as Fairbanks, actually got to see the summit of McKinley and almost got that picture (was a few seconds too late), saw a grizzly bear on the side of the road, took my poor grandma up on a chairlift up the side of a mountain, lol - was still snow up top! Also got to ride the AK Railroad passenger train (I stood up in between the cars the entire 2 hour ride with my head outside! Saw a moose get spooked by the train and run chest deep out of a swamp! I'll never forget that image!), got on a cruise ship - stopped at Ketchikan, and sailed on that back to Seattle, then flew back to MA. One heck of a trip at 13 years old!
Cool you had pilot training! I've been wanting to do that the past few years. I bought a paramotor, but haven't flown it yet. Can't wait too. No license or registration needed, so it's a slow learning process. I need to polish up my ground handling skills, then I'll be flying. It's a trike-launch unit, so no running for me. Don't need to be running with asthma, lol. My dream is to get helicopter training, and buy a small Mosquito helicopter to build and fly out of my yard here. Some day! Anyway, thanks for sharing man!

Your right Shoesstring about nature being a healing force. I spend seven months of the year in the bush and winter in town. The five months i spend in town i feel myself diminising and cant wait to get back to the bush.

Cool video. This takes me back to when I lived up In Palmer, spent a month camping out on the Knik River down in Butte. The coldest winters I've experienced still has to be South Dakota.
