Hi, Shoestring! Bob Ross, the famous PBS painter, lived and was a huge fan of Alaska. He's passed on, but his fans carried on his channel on TH-cam. A lot of his paintings are based on Alaska.
I started watching this channel thinking this was just some homeless hobo with a TH-cam channel. Turns out This guy is well traveled, intelligent and a virtual encyclopedia.
Shoe, you are well spoken and interesting to listen to. Hearing about the ice caps and fijords and other features off the top of your head is great. Like casual informative wandering!
I have an uncle who's a world traveler and hunter. He's been to all of the continents. Even flown himself to Antarctica. I asked him to name me the #1 best place on planet earth and with no hesitation, he said "Alaska". Nothing comes close according to him. I'd love to go someday!

Seward and Anchorage and Homer all amaze me. Humble little towns all surrounded by huge mountains, and I mean HUGE mountains with glaciers all around just looking down on all the silly people. Now that I think about it, I can’t imagine you wanting to make your home base anywhere else. I love Alaska.

The Fish House at 12:10 on your video is the Charter Company that I’d recommend to your viewers if they find themselves in Seward and wanting to go on an fishing charter. I’ve always had good luck with them 👍👍

Thanks for re-hashing some old memories living in tent city in seward for a summer. We would hike above the clouds to get sun on mt marathon and then slide down in a trash bag on the snow.
Love the Alaskan Hyper Shoe woodpecker! Alaska great year round! Miss the salmon and halibut fishing. All free King crab we'd get from the crab boats courtesy of roommate who was Adak tugboat driver when he'd tow them when they suffered engineering casualty.
I am so dead gum jealous of you shoestring. I live here in Arkansas disabled on $1,400 a month. I would give anything to do what you're doing where you're doing it if I could only afford it

Lived on the peninsula for about ten years; two in Seward back in the late 70's (balance of time was in Homer), long before any of the tourist stuff was built around the harbor. About the only businesses in that area were Seward Fish (NEFCO), the Breeze Inn bar & restaurant, the Chevron station, the hardware store and the Harbor Masters office. There was a city campground across 4th from the Harbor Master. Very few apartments or hotels - the Van Guilder comes to mind. Thorn's Showcase was the place to eat and across the street then for a beer and fight the Frontier. I ran a Bering Sea crab boat that tendered salmon into Seward in the summers. Great video but with all respect, the narrative could use some help. Not sure where Angel Falls is, I drank a lot back then but do not recall such a place. There is Lowell Falls at the south end of town. the comment about the wind blowing 30 and later 40 were a bit exaggerated - maybe 8 -10, there wasn't a single white cap in the bay. I know the wind coming down from Moose Pass is cold, but . . . There were a few other comments which to a resident (former) just didn't feel right. Like I said, great video - safe travels.
Sure looks like Bend, Oregon where I live, and, the Puget Sound area in Washington State. My late wife and I were active scuba divers. We flew to Anchorage and one of the dive shops there took us to his boat in Seward. We went out in Resurrection Bay and stayed in a primitive cabin in his boat, we dove daily for two weeks. He was a retired Anchorage City Fireman. We were surprised how warm the sea water was there, much warmer than the Puget Sound in Washington state. We really had a wonderful time.
