- This video shows how I drive my 2006 Infinity G35 Coupe adapted with Menox Hand Controls. In this video I also show how I operate the "Auto-Stick" mode by a switch on the hand control handle. If you are interested in these controls you can check out www.drivingsystems.com/autoada... and find a dealer in your area.

Pretty good dog there. Sure knows how to use the camera.
Hi Brian,
We are absolutely thrilled that you took the time and effort to make a video showing the world how our product helps you in being an independent driver.
Drive safe!
+Autoadapt Absolutely! I love this hand control. Best one I've used. :)
Great! Did you see the PM we sent as well?
+Autoadapt Yes, I just replied. It was in my spam folder.
did you put the menox controls in yourself
Hi there, I'm not sure Brian will get this notification since you're replying to our comment. However since we're the manufacturer of this product I think I can answer your question, or rather how it's usually done.
In short, all our hand controls are sold via our dealers and for safety reasons they are also the ones who will install the hand controls.
Hope that helps!
Markus @ Autoadapt
That's so cool to see you rise above your injury. Love your innovativeness with the manual shift.
They were about $2K installed...not cheap but I'm glad I got them over other controls.
Im getting my Menox controls installed beginning of next week. Im so so so glad I saw your vid before I bought a pair I didnt want and then find out about these. Ive got a new front bumper, side skirts, two stage wing, full stereo, 18 in chrome/black rims and going to get it painted in the spring when I have all the parts installed.
I figured so much, but I always wondered how you all still drive 🚗 I was like "how do they make it stop" 😆 happy for this technology and your freedom ❤️
I had to get the wiring harness from a paddle shifter kit. Then I used a Dremel tool to cut a hole in the Menox handle to install another switch. Good to hear from you Kris! Hope you are doing well. :)
I love your videos bro. I have scoliosis/mild spinabifida I have recently just had start start my life in a wheelchair, Im actualy in the process of after my first proper chair made a Tilite which brought me to your videos in the first place.Im definatly subscribing your videos are a massive help. Good luck dude!
Dude this is awesome, didn't know they made these. I have a buddy whos still at the hospital in Landstuhl Germany finishing some prelim rehab before he ships back to the States. Totally going to buy one of these kits for him. This vid is an inspiration.
@klgrose2012 Thanks! Glad you like them. Yes, I had to go through a few sessions with a driving instructor at my outpatient rehab center and then test at the BMV to get my license to drive with hand controls. Then, I took my car to a mobility dealer that sells modified vans and other equipment to have the controls installed. I think they have to be installed professionally but I could be wrong. Good luck!
That is sick! I love how you rigged up the manual mode! Also pulling for thrust like in a plane would be cool
I've always been curious on how a car made for a paraplegic operates. Thank you for telling us!
Yes, it could easily work in your truck and yes, they can easily be adjusted so the handle is right where you need it. Plus the brake lock feature makes sitting at a light much more bearable. Check out the link in the video description.
Dude! That's badass! You're so inspiring and very good looking at that.. keep the vids up I love to see updates. You're amazing!
@Deepin210 Yep, the pedal goes all the way to the floor when you really get on it. To shift gears, I bought the electronic adapter made for a aftermarket paddle shifter kit and just hooked it up to a switch I built into the hand control. The control doesn't usually come with this option but maybe Menox could build it in for you if you ask them...I know they can control almost every other function on the hand control. (lights, turn signals, ect)
Thanks for showing me how the controls work, gives me some hope after I had a brain Lesion which burst one day knocking me into a coma, woke up 2 weeks later and since then I have been Paralyzed from the waist down. Looking for a good car ti have hand controls adapted. Congratulations on your engagement :)
great job on the mod to padel shift kit. good video. thanks.
@megnaan I still shift into reverse by using the shifter just like any other car. The gear I am in gets displayed on the gauges. The hand control just controls the gas and the brake pedals...and the car can still be driven with the pedals.
B, Just got my MENOX today and I totally want to thank you for suggesting them. They are so much easier to drive with that the temporaries. The Hill-Hugger function makes changing gears really easy. I will post some pics and videos to my You Tube Channel in the next couple days. If you come cross anyone in North Mississippi and they need a good referral for install, I got a guy who is awesome at getting them in under guidelines from the Dept of Rehab Svcs.
@nathuchy It's called the Carospeed Menox Hand Control and it is made by a company called AutoAdapt. The controls were around $2,000 installed but they are worth the extra money spent when compared to the push/rock hand controls.
You are amazing bro. True inspiration i have been paralyzed for 3yrs now your the best bro.
GREAT VIDEO!!!! Best I have seen on this control yet. THANKS a lot.
i just finished watching a movie based on a true story (netflix) walk. ride. rodeo.
she was in a accident and wasnt able to ride anymore. she still had mobility on the upper body but not her legs. she is tough and still riding her horse.
watching the movie got me curious on how wheelchair users drive. and i came across your video and i am amazed, i was a little familiar but never saw a person drive, just explain.
i am very happy for you and im sure it was a struggle but you kept moving forward and trust me, a lot of good things are coming your way.
@rapidfire1991 Yes, I think they sell these in the UK but you may want to research it. There is a link in the description of this video you can check out.
Thanks Tim! Close guess. :) My last car was a black 2006 Accord V6 6-speed coupe...slightly modified of course. I miss it! Still love the G but I miss the manual trans.
@Usapatriette Yes, I think they would fit fine in a minivan. The lever is very adjustable.
Great vid! I think those guys make a quick release button that holds the brake down while you shift, maybe they came out with it after you bought those or maybe not possible with the shift switch. The shift switch is way cooler if you have to choose one or the other.
hey thankyou for your video. my right leg is paralyze after motorcycle accident. and i feel very happy knowing that i can drive car by my own and get my freedom back. :D
@krisreckner Good to hear man! Like I said before, they are much more user friendly than the other controls. Let me know what you think once you get used to them.
with regards to my last post, you can also get a steering ball which you can have button next to it for the indicators/gears and all that.
Impressive the system u used to drive looks so easy
Friend. I congratulate you for the command manual for driving. I also have a motor impairment and want to have my car adapted to be able to drive and have more freedom because it is difficult to depend on others. Best of luck.
That's really cool. I would wanna try using that.
Love the sound of the car! I have a VW Golf GTI (I'm getting the mk7 R when it becomes available in Australia) with simple caro hand controls, but since my first car post-paraplegia I've discovered I have just enough control to use one foot on the accelerator so it feels a bit nicer. I'd never thought about wiring a shifter to the control! A DSG gearbox can be a bee's dick in quickness to a manual too. But I've been riding motorbikes since 7 and learnt to drive in a manual so that's no problem.
dude your amazing, inspiration to others who feel they cant own certain cars due to their condition
I never though that people like him could drive
*So Inspiring* 👌
They are permanent hand controls but if I ever sell the car, I can have them transfered to my new car. I also have a set of travel hand controls that I can use in my 2nd car, rental cars, ect that break down into sections but aren't nearly as nice to use.
Nice setup you got there. :) Keep up the nice work.
This is great. Thanks for all your videos. They have been a complete inspiration to my friend who has been recently paralyzed. How do you get your chair in the car?
awesome man, I cant wait to get the hand controls in my car!!!
Hey Brian, I just wanted to tell you that I think your videos are amazing! I am 18 and have spina bifida. I am technically considered a paraplegic, but I can move my legs pretty well etc. Anyways, I will be learning to drive soon, so your video on driving and transferring gave me a few ideas for myself. I was just wondering though if you went through a certified driving rehabilitation specialist for your modifications? Thanks again for the amazing videos!
@spartanturtle333 It still shifts like an auto...I just added a leather shift boot and a different shifter handle.
hey Brian, im about to purchase an Audi S5 which will have the manual shift option. do you mind letting me know how you adapted your controls to be the shifter instead of the original shifter? I would really like that option as well.
And you can still enjoy the 300 horsepower your awesome G can put out. I’m glad those controls allow you to drive.
very nice car. my BMW x5 had the manuel to standard. My truck does not have that. the ttruk also has cloth interior and hard to slide on.. hope to have it reupholsered to leather this year. It is a 2010 Silverrado.
Awesome video pal
Your one badass dude! Really helpful videos you post for other paralized people...If you don't mind me asking how did you become paralized?
Awesome video
Ive got the same car and setup, i love it.
Oustanding. Glad to see technology helping those with disabilities to have fun with their ride.
your really an inspiration man!
Good video made me feel bit better I have MS and my car was in the shop for 1.5months and now I cannot operate my right foot so I have to wait for city to make their decision about me getting one of those. Most likely will have to wait for another six months for that...
Get portable hand controls in the meantime. It will help you get behind the wheel while they make the decision. Not to mention I use mine all the time with secondary vehicles, rentals, loaner cars, etc. Probably the best adaptive equipment I own next to a wheelchair.
I found one portable hand control and it costs 900€ here in Finland. It is available in one place where we are going tomorrow leaving 10 in the morning because a sort of a miracle happened! I send the hand control application on Friday via email (which they really hate) and received a phone call next Tuesday that they had approved it so tomorrow I am getting the Menox!
You shown me how to keep the life go on...😘
Hey I have these same controls in my 04 pointiac gto and yes anybody can still drive it using the pedals just like normal.
awesome vid!! im a t9 complete. i had my driving license when i was walking but i totally stop driving after my injury.. so my license is expired now, so im sure i have to take a written and driving test again..im starting over tryin to live life to the fullest again and move on to positive things in my life and want to start driving again.. i was wonderin, what was the process u went through to start driving again??..it would be a great help, thank u.
hi brian its good to see u driving wid menox can dis system be installed in a right hand drive car
keep up the good work!
Cool....love that trick.....
Hi, thanks for a great video, i have the same hand control in my car,but as what i see u push gas to the back side! but my hand control push the gas by right side twist.it's the best hand control than others.can i ask u is it possible to install it in any car by myself ??
i really respect you dudee
So I just got my license with hand controls last week. I like the autocontrol it looks smoother to drive. And yes its tiring after awhile having your hand on it all the time. I am looking into buying a car. But if you use the autocontol do you need to be re-tested from DMV to use them? And how much is the cost of change from hand control to autocontrol. Am car shopping an stumbled on your video. And if your licence has a restriction with hand controls does it prevent you to use the Autocontrol?
I love that method
I love your car! When you're in the market for a new one, what are you thinking of getting?
@Usapatriette Yes, if you look under the video description, I added a link to the web site and the dealer locator link should be working. Thanks!
hi Brian! lve had permenant mount hand controls many years ago and since had a small car dealership for 10 years so l used portable hand controls designed for using in rental cars and l got so used to them l still use them in all my personal cars, pull them out and take them with me when l travel! Never seen the ones you are using there but looks like they work great! l think you need a nice vacation to Yellowstone! Ever thought about going? ha ha! l have some old videos l took there of some cool accessible cabins and trails on my channel if you want to see! l might talk you into checking my channel out yet! You see, if l can make friends with you l might score a few minutes on your bike! Hope you have a sense of humor! Thanks, Randy
Hey! Can u please tell me what parts are needed to install the manual shift buttons on the hand control? I also want to buy a g35 or g37 and I too come from driving a stickshift
hey man! i recommend a steering ball? for the steering wheel. When driving thats what i use and its alot easier then useing the thumb and hand. check it out!
You're amazing I mean you impressed me very much .
Hey! Just wondering... my hand controls are on the left side of the steering wheel.. do you know if it's possible to have the same hand controls as you but on the left side? I'm kind off used to it already..
Good video, do u know we're I can get these hand controls from?
This is very cool how it is easy and simple to use. how is the g35 on gas? I am looking to get one but cant find one ;/
Cool dude
Your hand controls are a bit different than mine. Mine are to the left and moves just like yours, but its a bar type. Pull for gas, push for brake. I like yours, but since mine is to the left it's easier for me to do my auto/manuel shifting without modifications. I took the spinner knob off too, it drove me insane. LoL! Love the car.
You rock man!
This one is quiet easier than mine. Thanx 4 the video
that car sound gives me goosebumps, my skin hair rises.
Is that possible to install the control for left hand to push the gas and break?
Hey bro thanks for posting this. I have used Sure-Grip since my injury 10 years ago and I just went with what the shop recommended. I've got a 2011 Escalade and the Sure-Grips look like shit and have thought about changing to something more aesthetic. Obviously you're in a car, but do you see any reason why I wouldn't be able to have the handle in almost the exact position in my Escalade? Do you think they have enough adjustability built into them?
I have one question considering driving the automatic: how do you manage starting the car up hill, but with little bit more steep hill? Can you make video about it? Thanks.
Was it hard to take the letters of the shift knob off?? Looks way better!! And was it hard to install the momo shift knob!?
When you get on it does it feel as if you had your foot down all on the gas? An how do you shift gears what extra adapter did you need? Im getting a is300 and getting the same hand control.
@sharpshooter374 There are kits available for manual cars but I don't think they are approved for street use. I've seen them on race cars and they are complex. I feel the same, I would rather drive a manual.
Great video both this one and the motorcycle video. I just have a quick question. How much did your Menox Hand Controls cost. I have used the ones where you push for gas and pull down for break and I hated them had a problem with gunning it as well.
These controls were around $2000 I think. Not cheap but they are definitely more user-friendly than the controls you describe.
@@ParalyzedLiving Hi Brain, how are you doing? Thank you for posting this great video with your Menox Hand Control car and also your motorcycle. How much did it cost? Kind regards, from, PaulLaw.
How difficult was it to build in the paddleshift kit to the handle? Im assuming the switch came stock on the side? I have the switch in the front of mine to hold in the braking position, but not the side.
wow. im so greatful. driving is a privilege.
Hi Brian I have ordered this Menox I just want to know after installing this hand controls can the pedals work as before bcoz there are also other family members who will drive the car .thanks in advance pls ans.
Please how can I get this fixed in my car? I live in Nigeria. This is quite easy to use. Very user-friendly.
Hey mate, just wondering why you don't use a spinner knob on the steering wheel? (My best friend is paraplegic and has a spinner knob on his 2000 Celica) I imagine that without a spinner knob it must be really difficult driving around tight spaces like carparks etc.... what do you think?
Do you still enjoy the car's setup? Any problems in winter?
@Therightone4u1 The hand controls + install were around two thousand dollars....I know, sucks
Dream car...
Where did you by the menox Hand controls
nice bro i cant find a price for the menox, how many SF is your hm and what level are you if you dont mind..
can you help me get one of these or tell were I get one.
Hi Dude, I have a problem in left leg. In India its right hand drive. I don't like to drive automatic version which i can, I need clutch control is to be brought near the steering wheel. I need your suggestion. because most of the mechanics doesn't understand whats the real problem faced by the paraplegic persons.
I can't help but think the dog is the one holding the camera. haha :D
I hope you don't mind my asking, but how do you reverse? Is it extra push on the brake?
should have a knob on the wheel so you can turn the wheel better. Its really fun doing emergency maneuvers with those :)
Where did you purchase your hand controls
Dealer locater page gives me a '404 Error Page Not Found'. Is there another way to find a dealer? I'm in Southern, Ca. Thanks for a very informative video!
