    How does this dude only have 1.5K Subs? Your productions value is very high. I am considering the BMPCC 6K G2. Do you use the pocket for your TH-cam videos? How do you handle focus when shooting solo since it doesn't have live focus?

    • @topicruben
      @topicruben  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thank you very much for your kind words 🙏. Yes, I’ve been using this camera for my YT videos since I got it. Manual focus is very easy to handle. When you get the feel of it, you don’t want to go back to AF. At the beginning used to use photo lenses (Tamron 15-50mm f2.8 and Canon 50mm f1.8) and as they have electronics they are compatible with the “AF” the pocket 6K Pro has, and so I used the Blackmagic app. I sat down and with the phone I focus on my face (using focus assistant). Now I use cinema lenses (Samyang-I did a video about them) and I focus either on my chair etc; an amazing solution can be buying the nano follow focus from Tilta, as you can focus wirelessly! Thanks again for watching and leaving your comment 🙏

      @@topicruben that’s great! I just discovered the tilts fallow focus last night. Also discovered the CineEye last night which can be used to basically make a wireless follow focus with a monitor out of your phone or iPad so I will likely do that. I have a ton of photographic glass but I may end up getting a few primes. Thanks for the reply.

    Hey Ruben, for using the 6K Pro for TH-cam as you said you do, can I ask how you setup focus, what f stop (or t stop) are you using? Do you find you go out of focus easily in MF?

    • @topicruben
      @topicruben  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Kris, great question! Let me go step by step. I use cinema lenses (Samyang/Rokinon in America) and so, inside the house with my lights I normally shoot between T2 and T2.2, not less than that otherwise it becomes more difficult to focus and any little movement back and forth will take me out of focus. To setup focus I put something in the area I’m gonna be sitting on and use my focus assist and then reframe the composition, or tell my 7 yo daughter to put me green, lol. She has become my camera girl. It seems like a lot of work, but after awhile you get used to it and you nail it by yourself! It’s funny but AF bothers me. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your great comment 🙏🇨🇦❤️. Peace and love

    6K is better because in Sequence FHD I have three options for different shot sizes without losing quality: 31.2%, 50-70% and 100%.
    But, unfortunately, in Windows Resolve does not have 422 output for archiving material.
    You have to convert to DNxHR 444 and then, through Adobe Encoder, to ProRes422.

    Great video!
    How would you compare the 6K FF and Pro against the 6K G2? I'm considering the 6K G2 over the other two, because the difference of the 6K Pro pretty much only is the built-in ND filter. I have a matte box with ND filters already. The 6K FF is full-frame, which can be worth it, but not sure if that's a big leap worth the money (€1k).
    Currently have a rigged out BMPCC 4k (with ext battery, matte box and nd filters, ext monitor etc.) and I am also not sure if it is worth the upgrade to the 6k G2. The 6k G2 has a crazy deal of €1500 and if I sell the BMPCC 4k, it is only €400 extra for me to upgrade from the 4k.
    Thank you!

    • @topicruben
      @topicruben  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey buddy, thanks for watching and for your comment. The FF is a great camera because of the OLPF internal filter which makes the colors more accurate and also because of the cf express card possibility (it doesn’t have good frame rate choices). Of course you can also use an external SSD. It’s true, the price is higher than the G2. I don’t think the 6k G2 has that filter, but you can also correct any shifts in black (under the sunlight) in post, so G2 is newer and better than the 4K and has more choices for lenses. Hope this helps

    • @sonerarslan4686
      @sonerarslan4686 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@topicruben
      Thanks for your reply!
      So I already have a BMPCC 4k + speedbooster. And I already use EF lenses. I'm considering an upgrade to 6k G2, because of the 6k resolution and I'm looking for a leap in quality, sharpness, colors, overall "look" and perhaps a more future proof camera.
      But I am not sure if changing from BMPCC4k to 6K G2 will make that much of a difference and is worth the upgrade. As for other features: because I already have a BMPCC 4k rig with a speedbooster, and ext. monitor, and a v-mount, some of the improvements of the 6k G2 (like better battery life, flippable monitor, EF mount) aren't THAT important.
      The extra €€€ for built-in ND for the 6k Pro isn't worth it for me either.
      For me, I want to make short narrative films (relatively small crew), documentary stuff and make my clients happy with all kinds of videocontent.
      The 6k G2 has a crazy deal of €1500 and if I sell my BMPCC 4k (+cage + speedbooster), it is "only" €400 extra for me to upgrade. But then again: only if it makes a significant difference in colors/quality/sharpness/flexibility.

At some point I rigged it up, cause I didn't want to worry about battery (cause even the 6K pro doesn't have a great battery life), and yesterday I got the best solution I never thought about before. Good morning, I have just watched your video with much interest. As a new user I am still becoming conversant with the 6k Pro. Tomorrow, I am shooting a dance routine for a music video. Would you recommend using Pro res, so I can import straight away into FCPX? Can I please ask what settings you would advise me to use, if I shoot in 4k Pro res. Thank you. :)

    • @topicruben
      @topicruben  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey brother, first of all thank you for taking the time, watching and leaving a great comment! Your recording settings can vary depending on what final quality you want, or the client wants. Also it is important to keep in mind what kind of computer you have so your whole project runs smooth. However, if you want to shoot in ProRes to use it straight away with FCPX I would recommend 422. It'll give you an amazing quality. Look, BRAW 6K 12:1 will give you 1h and 47 minutes (aprox) and ProRes 4K 422 will give you 1h and 51 minutes, so it's pretty similar regarding file-size (not quality size of course) If you're planning to do several takes and let's say one of them will be a fixed footage (like on a tripod), I would shoot that one in 24 fps, and if you do other takes, let's say handheld I would use 60 fps so if you use slow motion or stabilize the footage it looks better. If you wanna go even smaller in file-size you can try ProRes 4K LT. It'll be the smallest and fastest, but the quality won't be as the other codecs. Feel free if you have any other questions. Thanks so much

      Hi again,
      So the shoot went really well, just one issue, if I can ask your advise?
      although I think I know the answer.
      A bright day, so shooting at iso 100. 24 fps, shutter angle 180.
      Exposure meter is telling me f8, but ideally I’m looking to shoot at 1.4 or 2.8; I’ve used the camera’s internal ND filters and still can’t get the desired f stop. As far as I know, my only other option to get the aperture I want, is to put another ND filter on the lens. Am I correct? No other options?
      Thank you.

    • @topicruben
      @topicruben  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Liam_Doherty_UK hey brother, thank you for the comment. The answer is noooo! 😄 you do not need another ND filter, you should shoot at 400 ISO. Remember that the 6k Pro has 2 native ISO 400 and 3200. You should always try to stay in that range to obtain better results. Now, the way I see is that you want to obtain some good blurry background. In that case you can use the internal ND at 6 stops with 400 ISO and that should give you a good range to open the aperture of the lens, but if you’re shooting at midday that could be an issue, you probably won’t be able to open your aperture at f2.8 cause it’s too bright. Why don’t you shoot early in the morning or at golden hour? That would be awesome! Shooting at golden hour with the sun behind the subject (reversed light) and a positive panel to give some light to the subject!!! If you want you can DM me on Twitter or IG (same name) or you can find my email in my about page in my channel. Hope this was helpful 🙏
