    Certified Mobile RV Technician, Darren Koepp discusses the Lippert In-Wall (Schwintek) slide room H-Column components. Darren goes in-depth including repair tips and tricks, best practices, and a complete overview of how it works.
    This video followed a service call where he made a repair to a Schwintek system.
    Here is a link to that video: • Troubleshooting a Lipp...
    Note: In this video, Darren keeps calling the Schwintek 'H-Column' an 'H-Harness' - Every time he says that just nod your head and remember he is a Marine and the H-Harness is a part of the Marine combat uniform to carry extra magazine clips, etc. Darren is very familiar with both the H-Column and the H-Harness LOL.

      Exactly! I have this system and am really hoping I don’t need to pull everything off to lubricate it. I have seen a couple videos where they show to bend the tube to get the lube where you need it, but I just can’t see what I’m trying to hit while my slide system is attacked to the RV!

    "The Plastic Piece" that you refer to that breaks off the Bearing Block. Where can you buy that piece? What's it called?

    On my Lippert system, the LR Slide on my fifth wheel makes a popping noise and shows some wear on the track. Sounds like the gear is not in full contact with the track. Also, one side of the slide is about 12" from the entry door, so the wall is very small, and moves and vibrates when the slide goes in and out. If the plastic part you spoke of is broken, how do I get access to it to replace ? You supply a valuable service to us all, a huge THANK YOU !

    These were very informative and helpful videos on the Schwintech slide system. It also really helped seeing the inside of the slide components and now I have a much better understanding of what they do and how they work together. You really know your stuff and, at the same time, you were able to keep the information at a level most anyone could understand. You already figured out that you need at least a 6 foot table (LifeTime tables are great for your line of work) to make it easier to lay things on for the videos. Also, between you and the videographer need to get a little better at keeping what your showing in the shot and not off to the side out of the frame. A wireless Lavalier Microphone would also make your jobs easier by eliminating the cable that probably gets in the way more than you'd like. Looking forward to more videos and stay safe out there.

    Good luck y'all when it starts going off...won't open...just gets stuck..wherever, for whatever reason, and no wind in manual option... This type of video really shows up the product, but the price to fix them, if you can, and the knowledge to see how they work is valuable..when they do work. Ours, it got stuck half out, half in...The company no longer had the parts, they had to be made. ...38 days in the shop. Thanks to Dan at Mohave RV in Bullhead City, they got it repaired and working...It was sold shortly after, for obvious reasons.... never to go Schwintek ever again...good instructive content.

    My last travel trailer Schwintek system committed suicide. I pushed the button for it to go out and it kept going and going. I finally stopped after it broke through the outside wall and ran out of track. This was my third system on this trailer. It went back to Thor Industries and that is where it sat for over a year waiting to be fixed. While in their hands, the propane tank, tank cover and battery was stolen. You could not pay me a million dollars to purchase another travel trailer with a Schwintek system. As the head technical engineer at Thor Industries said, "This is not the trailer's fault. It is due to the design of the Schwintek System."

    hello the screw holding the motor in place ,does the motor have threads or just the aluminum bracket, or the screw end just rest in the motor window thanks

    • @happyseany
      @happyseany 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The screw just threads into a hole in the H-Column, doesn't technically screw into the motor.. rather- the end of the screw sits into a cavity on top of motor to prevent motor falling out with vibration, shock, etc.

    This video is awesome. I had an issue where the adjustable floor roller came loose from the floor, because it was only attached with 4 of the self-tapping trim screws they use. It damaged the subfloor and bent the bracket, so I straightened the bracket and I put a 1/4" metal plate between the roller assembly and the floor that was larger, to distribute the load and attached it with 8 real screws. The problem is, it occasionally hangs on that side and I saw that I the plastic piece was separated and sliding in the track. I have been looking for a video that showed how the assembly comes out, because I figured the whole assembly would have to be replaced. The fact that the plastic parts are replaceable is a huge bonus. Do you have the part number of the kit you referenced, or do I have to call LCI and give number off of the tag? Also, Mine has the double tracks on the top. I assume that they are built the same but basically with one upper design, and two of the lower ones. Is that correct?

  • @michaeldavis9287

    Wow! Great video! The bottom of my Entegra 24B wall slide is out just a bit when slide is closed. As you showed, the S on gears are probably 90 degrees out of alignment.

    • @2hotscottpro
      @2hotscottpro 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Was the gears out of sink? Mines tight at top and can stick my finger in bottom of slide on both sides.And slide watts so I bump in and out 2 inch at a time.Till I remove it to see what’s what now that I know what to look for.

    • @michaeldavis9287
      @michaeldavis9287 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @2hotscottpro mine had 2 issues. The guide rollers under the dinette were not engaged. I think this was my key issue. Also, the box was not aligned properly to the opening. I shimmed the main rollers on one side to square the box to the opening. Both problems cause binding in the drive. The inverted design is more susceptible to binding. I installed a new drive system, Lippert sent the original design drive...

    • @michaeldavis9287
      @michaeldavis9287 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh yeah, gears were out of sync. Binding is the root cause of the sync issue.

    • @2hotscottpro
      @2hotscottpro 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just bumped it out and back in and all is tight now.But one side just stops intermittently and goes out of sink.Possible motor harness pin connection,bad contact.

    I had a Schwintek slide failure on a full wall (Itasca Solei). It failed in the out position and we needed to get it back in to continue our trip. We thought we had pulled the screw and popped the motors up, but it still took 10 strong men to push the wall in. The shaft on one side was destroyed in the process. Does that mean that we failed to pop the motor up enough to disengage it? Excellent video!

    You would THINK the dumb-ass engineers at Lippert would come up with a POSITIVE LOCKING method (other than a single screw) to hold the motor in place! That's absolutely the stupidest after-thought setup I have seen in quite a while. There should be a block attached to the motor to screw at LEAST two screws into. You could probably clamp a piece of flat 1/8" aluminum to the motor with two stainless band clamps. Then drill a hole (or two) for the screws to thread into.

    Many thanks, Darren, for teaching me about my Schwintek slide. I learned a lot. I was wondering about your opinion regarding putting weight on a Schwintek slide (sofa, bed) when it is retracted. After watching your videos I do not see why it would make much difference being in or out. Actually, it even appears to me that it is easier on the slide to put weight on it when retracted. Thanks!

    Ahhhh crap. New to me 5th wheel. Came here specifically to see why my slide appears to not close on the bottom when it touches on the top. Can I check the "S" on the gears without a full tear down? If I have to re-align, is it easier to pull the top or the bottom wheel? I'm also trying to figure out how to square up the slide so that reassembly alignment stays square and i don't skip a tooth on the S-rail. Grrrrrr. what a mess.

    I have a pendulum type clunking noise behind the drivers seat of my 2019 Jayco Mercedes Melbourne 24L. Some of the forums state its the slide out system. I can't see anything it this video that would be the culprit. It sounds like a heavy weight on a pendulum swinging back and forth upon taking off and stopping.

    Definately worth the time to sit and watch. As a marine electronics repair guy, I know how hard it is to explain something without getting to technical. Thanks for the help. If you get Victoria, Bc, the first rounds on me.

    Also why do they make the gear holder out of plastic instead of metal.

    Absolutely sensational video. I do have a question. I think my wiper seals are 90% of the noise I hear when I move the slide in and out. Is there a particular rubber seal lubricant that you would recommend?

      @TheBandit7613 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't lube the rubber but a good rubber lubricant is silicone spray. Spray the silicone on a rag and apply to the rubber wipe surface.

    It's not clear what a "gibb" is, or does. You never explained it well enough to grasp the function of a gibb. But thanks anyway, I did learn a few things.

      @jeremys3987 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The drive gear and motor brackets ride on the gibs and it allows the brackets to slide in and out a small amount to allow for variations between the camper wall and slide out not being perfectly "true" to each other. Also for expansion and contraction which will happen do to moisture and temperature changes.

    Excellent- Great Job! Only wished this was available when my slider got stuck out. My wire harness pins on 1 side had somehow retracted (really small) and only made partial contact. Finally figured it out and glued pin in place so when connected to other harness it didn't retract. It only took 2 days for me to figure it out.

      Did your slide walk on one side when the other side wasn’t getting contact? Intermittent or all the time? I’ve seen one side just stop on mine.Then I have to bump it in or out 2 inch at a time because between 2 -4 inch is when it quits.I’ll look at my pins.Thanks for comment.

      @jc525exc 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No- 1 side just didn't work at all. Once I figured out pin contact issue, it was an easy fix. After removing the motor & running it on other side harness, I troubleshot working backwards.👍🏻

      @jc525exc 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It stopped or didn't work at all. Wasn't intermittent, it didn't work. I swapped motors to see if it was the motor and issue only occurred in same location. So I backtracked it to the harness connection & found issue.@@2hotscottpro

    FYI...I have a Lippert In wall slide out and the owner's manual specifically states not to lubricate:
    System Maintenance
    It is recommended that when operating In-Wall® Slide-out system in harsh environments (road salt, ice
    buildup, etc.) that the gear racks and seals be kept clean and free of debris. They can be washed with mild
    soap and water.
    Note: No grease or lubrication is necessary, and in some situations may be detrimental to the long-term
    dependability of the system.

      Ive noticed Lippert doesnt always know whats best for their own products. I can atest the specific lube in this video is what i have been using. We camp over 15 trips a year and it has saved wear and tear.

    Gezz this is the most disjointed instructional video I have ever tried to watch ! I have no idea what it was you were trying to teach, demonstrate, or was it a advertisement for your service ! I don't know how anyone that didn't already have a basic understanding of how the Swintec slide works understood anything you were showing.
    Mount that slide system on a mockup of a slide, set it up in a quite space, with sufficient lighting, and for God's sake at least use a basic outline so you don't jump back and forth, making it totally confusing.
    Hope the check in the mail to all those that left positive comments ! Guess it's a Emperor's New Cloths kinda thing, but I'm telling you this was bad !

So I will continue to focus on my target audience and give them exactly what they have grown to expect from me. I would kindly ask you to bless other channels with your presence, our audience will happily continue without you. But if you choose to continue on this channel you going in Eyes Wide Open knowing exactly what you're getting. And I think everybody on our Channel realizes it doesn't suit you so you can save yourself the time and trouble and not make comments like this. It doesn't look well for you and we'll just ignore you anyway.
