I Finally Got My Hands on an XBox One!

  • It's a new year and I am, once again, levelling up my video game lineup. This year, the channel will be improved by the showcasing of XBox One games.
    Before I get into XBox One games, I decided to showcase the hardware as well as a number of different games I was able to pick up along the way. I also decided to talk about my first you playing the Playstation 4 and what it was like as well.
    So, what can you expect to see in the up and coming future for this channel. Assuming nothing unexpected happens and I don't run into any technical issues, you'll start seeing XBox One videos starting in February.
    As I mention in the video, I now technically have too many consoles for the current schedule. To resolve this, I have decided to temporarily retire the XBox 360 this year. Games for that console will come back to the channel in a future date, but not for the next while at least.
    So, what's the schedule going to look like with this new console? It should look something like this:
    Week 1: Steam game
    Week 2: Playstation 3 game
    Week 3: Playstation 4 game
    Week 4: XBox One game
    It's really exciting to finally get into a new console and I hope you enjoy this development too. Here's to another fun and interesting year!

    I won one of these from a Goodwill auction for $20. It’s super dusty, but I was surprised when it worked perfectly. It even read discs perfectly too.

      It's surprising what you can get out of the used market. You're going to run into some duds here and there (I've already run into 3 bad discs and a dud controller already in my adventures so far), but there's some great stuff out there as well. Sometimes, all a console needs is a general dusting and it is good to go.
      When I bought this console, the store hadn't even had a chance to blow the dust off of it, so while I was chatting with another clerk, the clerk took the console out back and gave it a good dusting before bringing it to me after. At the time, such consoles were hard to come by and they typically sold out quickly. It's not so bad now around here, but it was a rather interesting moment for me at least. Plus, the prices for XBox One games are quite reasonable (assuming you're not looking for mint condition or super rare games.) You can get some pretty good games for great prices - at least better than buying fresh brand new games at least these days. If my experience with the PS4, PS3, and XBox 360 is anything to go by, it's definitely worth it.

    Congratulations on getting an XBOX ONE. The console deserved to be better managed. I remember working at Target during the PS4 and XBOX ONE Launches in 2013.
    The Target got around 30 PS4s for the launch. We ended up selling all of them before the lunch break. As for the XBOX ONE, we only got six consoles in for the launch. These were the early editions that included the Kinect. We only sold five that day.
    Personally, I think you'll enjoy Far Cry 6. Giancarlo Esposito gives a great performance as Anton Castillo. Sunset Overdrive was supposed to be an XBOX exclusive developed by Insomniac. Insomniac now develops the Spider-Man games for PlayStation.
    Seriously, GET MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN!
    Finally, I downloaded an old PlayStation One game onto my PS5. The game uses the touch pad to act as the traditional Start and Select buttons.

      Thanks! I'm quite excited to see what this console can do. Sucks that it didn't get the management it needed on the sales front, though. I do wonder, though, if that played a role in its popularity in some regions. Like, if someone walked into the store and there was no XBox One on sale, but a PS4, maybe there's a chance that some customers ended up buying the PS4 because of it being available. Hard to say if something like that would play a role, though, but it is an interesting thought at least.
      I'm already getting excited for Far Cry 6 then. Gonna get to two others first before I get there, but I am excited for it.
      I really am trying to get Spider-Man. I've been looking for about two years now to no avail, but I keep trying. If I can't find it used, I may have to wait until I get the PS5 before picking it up. I'm assuming it's a bit more available when it's new at least. It'll take me a bit to get there, though, but the effort is being put in for that game at least.

    Hey so about your controller you probably already know about this but you can hold the Xbox button and you can turn your Xbox of or you can do that when it’s off and it will turn on

    • @YourEraGamer
      @YourEraGamer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This was actually something I only discovered last week with the XBox 360. I wasn't really thinking and turned on the controller before I turned on the console. When I saw the console turn on on its own, it took me a second to realize what had happened. I thought, "Huh, I didn't know I could do that. That's pretty cool to know."
      I found this to be a really neat feature and it isn't surprising that it continues to be a thing with the XBox One. Hadn't tested that yet, but it would probably be something I would've tested once I got more into the gaming side of things.

      You can also go into options and make it to where the button does not light up in case you find that distracting?
      Holding it for a certain amount of time will make the controller turn off without having to go to the options, and choose to turn the controller off!!

    Xbox 360 notorious for not getting game updates in fact games shipped broken and devs couldn’t fix them. Also the networking was very limited only a 100mb connection.

    • @YourEraGamer
      @YourEraGamer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had no idea. I actually thought the updates happened to be smaller if at all. Didn't think it was because the games weren't getting updated at all.
      Well, networking for that console is a bit more limited now as the online multiplayer servers for the console are no longer officially supported as far as I could tell. I only use the internet on the console for updates and achievements which is fairly minimal I think. Didn't test web browsing on the XBox 360 mostly because I use other devices for that.

      Oh right... because a HDD wasn't enforced. And those memory units hardly held anything.
      So many games must have been broken.
      And yes the PS3 with its "installing... downloading updates.. installing updates" can be irritating too.

      Interesting. I wasn't entirely sure what the plugin at the top was for. I looked at what I ended up getting with the XBox One and all I got was a power cable for the console and two HDMI cables (I bought this used). I'll have to look in to getting a power cable for the controller. Thanks for the idea!

      I still use my Xbox one X to this day also and it is my console with the most amount of games on it at over 500 all owned!!
      With game pass, it makes it astronomical and you sit there, looking at games, trying to decide what to play..
      Sadly, they made updates that broke a lot of games on Xbox one X !
      This happened when the series S and series X came out and a lot of developers never went back and fixed the Xbox one X version and so I feel screwed..
      It took CDPR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF TO FIX BOTH VERSIONS OF THE WITCHER THREE BUT THEY FINALLY FREAKING DID IT?!?!!
      Games are still broken :
      Snow runner
      Devil May Cry 5
      Wasteland three
      RDR2 (WAS the best place 2play)
      Assassins Creed Origins
      And many more …

      @YourEraGamer  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's the controller I happen to get when I bought the XBox One used. I didn't actually have a choice on what controller I got, but I had assumed that this simply naturally came with the console since it came together as a package. I can see it being possible that the controller was bought by the previous owner separately for whatever reason, then when it came time to sell it, just sold this particular controller with the console. If it's not the controller that typically comes with this console, well, I didn't know it at the time of the recording.

    • @YourEraGamer
      @YourEraGamer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Modern stuff doesn't come cheap by any means. It's the primary reason why it took me as long as it has to get to this point. The pace I set for each console is a game every month. That is much easier on a console where you can pick up games for $5-$25 each. It's substantially harder on a console where games cost $60-$80 each.
      I'm currently attempting to work on a library where the console/games are newer behind the scenes, but the going is much slower because of the cost. I had hoped for a better financial situation by now, but COVID, global economic slowdown, inflation, stagflation, and other factors had, well, other plans for me. I hear the criticisms and efforts are being made to address such criticisms as we speak. Just need a little more time is all (hopefully, by around this time next year).

    So you got the Xbox one S in this video but not the Xbox one S controller which was the best Xbox controller they ever made!?!?
    In my opinion, the Xbox one S controller is my favorite controller. It is the same controller that came with the Xbox one. X!!
    It has a perfect shaped Dpad, clicky shoulder buttons and the best force feedback triggers, as well as the best joysticks with the concave design with a pinpointed center and a lip going around the outer edge whereas on the Series controller, it’s just a concave design with no pinpointed center..
    Having the controllers used AAA batteries was also smarter and more efficient than using a built-in battery that when it dies you have to do surgery on the controller to fix it whereas on the Xbox side of things, all you Gotta do is pop, open the case and replace the batteries inside?! Absolutely works great if you have a rechargeable battery kit and just have you some batteries ready to go?
    I always disliked the “flush design” on the start, and options button on the PS4 controller as well… I also dislike the fact that they got rid of the shoulders where the shoulder buttons are located, because this makes it to where, if you have big hands like the average gamer, who is older than 33 years, makes it to where you have to cramp your hands, holding those buttons while trying to run with the analog stick at the same time, etc…

    • @YourEraGamer
      @YourEraGamer  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When I bought this console, this was the controller that came with it. The console, cables, and controller was all used and it was just how this was bundled. Since the controller worked when I was testing the console to ensure that it functioned reasonably well, I had assumed, by the time I had recorded the video, that it was just the controller that came with it. Judging by this and other comments, that appears to not be the case from the sounds of things. Unless something goes wrong with this controller and I have to buy another one, I'm not sure it's a viable thing for me to buy the original XBox One S controller unfortunately, but it'll be something I'll keep in mind.
      You raise an interesting point about the batteries in controllers, though. Indeed, if it's a built in battery and something happens to said battery, then you either have to have it repaired in a painful process or buy a new controller. I didn't think of that, though I guess I should have as I had a PS4 controller fail on my pretty early on when I started playing the PS4. I guess that after I had bought the replacement controller, I had pretty much forgotten about it since the problem was solved about a year ago. It might have been a battery issue for all I know, but with AA batteries, those can be swapped out without a second thought. So, I'd say that's a really good counterpoint.

    • @turismofoegaming8806
      @turismofoegaming8806 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@YourEraGamer yeah it’s not viable to try to find a good Xbox one S or an Xbox one X or for that matter and original Xbox one controller, which is also slightly different, at this point…
      Unfortunately, ever since Covid hit, it drove up the cost of all video game peripherals that came out before Covid hit!! I’ve been trying to find me a brand new Xbox one X controller for a while now without having to spend nearly $100?!?!
      It’s why I also have a series controller that I use with my Xbox one X now, but I still have my original Xbox one controller and I had three others, as well as a white one that came with my Xbox one S that I gave to my friends that needed controllers, and I wish I still had them but.. at the time I was trying to do something nice for one of my friends that needed a controller you know?
      Either way, it is because of the controller that made me want an Xbox one to begin with over the PS4 even though I got the PS4 first.. I like the PS4 controller, but it has more points about its design that I would consider negatives than it does positives? They gave it bigger handles but but because of the way the controller is shaped it works against the natural leverage of your hand as your hand grips something and this is something that the design people over it Microsoft thought a lot about when they were designing the Xbox one and the Xbox series controller because if you look at how the controller is shaped, and when you press one of the triggers all the way down, your hand is not cramped in anyway, and it creates a right angle in your hand. It works with the natural leverage of you gripping something!! it’s harder to explain than I would like, but that was my best attempt..
      Great video man!

      Microsoft made updates that made the disc drives stop working!!!
      My Blu-ray Drive on my Xbox one X no longer works and it worked all the way up until 2020 when I re-purchased Forza horizon three and play the game no problem and then they made a console update that broke the drive and made it to where it does not even recognize anything anymore !!!!!
      I don’t know if yours is suffering from the same problem? But I know this is what happened to mine because I only ever used it a couple times… 95% of my games are all digital and downloaded and because Microsoft wants to go this “all digital route” with game pass, and what not, I believe this is why they threw a wrench into the code to break everybody’s desk drive on their last GEN console? This would also allow them to drive up their numbers of people streaming games via X cloud??
      It makes sense -
      At this point Microsoft and Xbox are Scumbags…
