    Cosmo, I rarely comment on channels I subscribe to. But I felt like it was finally time to tell you how much I appreciate your content. Number one, you boondock on the east coast! You’re not in my part of the east coast but it is the east coast. You show it can be done. Number two, I like your personality and your presentation. Your knowledge is spot on and fun to listen to.
    Number three, I love your Vistabule. It is just a piece of art with such clean lines.
    Thank you for the work it takes to do this channel.

    Good Morning Cosmo! Ventilation is key for sure....even at home I keep a window open at night. Golf tees for the win lol...I'm not a golfer so never would have thought of them lol....now all you need is a leaf blower to keep the leaves off your panels hahaha....thanks for the honorable mention. I don't know if I posted this on another video or not but I will post here. I saw that you made your own gravlax - good for you! Making it yourself you know what is in it. If you like sausage, you can easily make your own Lorne Sausage (Scottish) in a loaf pan. I cook mine in the oven first and slice, package and freeze it when it has cooled. Makes for a faster breakfast for me. I make my own meusli too - I like it better toasted and then let it soak overnight. Informative video - thanks for making it.,

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Barbara. I do make gravlax. I took 1.5 pounds with me on this trip. It keeps very well in the fridge (still fresh after 20 days) and is a gourmet food when camping. Will check out the Lorne Sausage. I have made meusli too but have not toasted it. Will give that a try too. I eat almost zero processed or packaged foods. I love fresh and homemade. Thanks for the tips. =Cosmo 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos

    Tent stakes and cordage would work for holding the solar panels off the grass, too. Both can also be reused many times.
    BTW: You are spot on abut the importance of ventilation for reducing condensation, especially when it is cold and damp.. We camped the past two years in a car top tent -- a Roof Nest Sparrow -- and we soon learned to leave a screened window partially open for ventilation. Condensation problem solved.
    Thanks for the video.

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Always a fascinating video! The pattern from the sapsucker is interesting. Because of the creatures that show up in my back yard and local trails (PNW), I've been reading about the differences in sapsuckers and woodpeckers and had no idea there was some distinction based on their drilling marks. The info on the moisture from various types of heating is defintely good to file away for future information. Thanks for sharing!

    to support your 2 solar panels - 4 equal lengths of clothes dryer flexible vent hose in aluminum or vinyl - may use weed blocker cloth pins (sm 'stakes') to hold them in place, or even better, insert a small branch of wood into the end of each tube vent. that set up should hold them several inches over the ground and be easy to pack up by compressing each tube together on itself and securing w/ a twist tie! the 4 of them can fit into a small bag between use and can't weigh more than a few ounces! : )

    Heads Up, good map for iPad, Android, etc.... is Gaia GPS. Has terrific maps with most of the off road roads and trails, as well as hiking, etc.... can be downloaded, so no need for cell service. Can do routing as well. Useful on a device if you have CarPlay or Android Auto (CarPlay works better). I navigated all over the Greenville, Maine area this past October. Nothing beats paper, but if there isnt good or updated paper, Gaia works well.

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point Steve. Thanks for bringing it up. I mention this in my next video. I used google map and go and downloaded the maps in advance for continuous navigation. If you include the phone I had 4 GPS's with me plus 2 sets of maps. Only problem was none of them agreed! Lots-O-Fun. The Garmin InReach Satellite communicator/GPS had the best maps. Probably just as good on the other if I loaded better maps. Regardless I was a happy camper. Ha ha ha. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos

      @@CosmoWeems A fellow TH-camr - Venture4WD uses an iPad in his Jeep (no CarPlay), no wifi on that so he links it to his InReach (I think as a hotspot) to get GPS, then has Gaia on his iPad mounted on his car dash. Thats about all he uses. He also tracks every excursion he does, makes comments about everything and everywhere, uploads and allows access to all that data to his Patreon subscribers, I actually don't like this business model, but overlanding is his career so he needs the income.

    And I have another recipe for you to try - if you like waffles, you will love Belgian Waffles. They rise with yeast, not baking powder. In a 2 cup of flour mixture, you can use other flours but keep 1/2 cup of all purpose so the batter has something to cling to while rising. King Arthur Flour has a good recipe.

    Hey Cosmo can you advise if RV parks let you park in a tent site when they are full on sites that have full hookups ?

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi They closed for the season. The place is koa.com/campgrounds/houlton/ They have hookup and non hookup sites. I used it as a starting place for my trip. If I remember its about 40 miles from the entrance the the 6 Mile check in point. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos

    rebar spacers would probably work, but more than your allowable budget.

      @CosmoWeems  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks they probably would! I had not heard of them before you alerted me. Next time I am at home Depot I will have a look. I have to say the golf tees are pretty portable. 100 of them fit in a small bag. Thanks for the tip. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos

    I don't want/need batteries and all that, not so peaceful... batteries belong in trucks/cars. When tent camping I just used a wet towel for a fridge, wrapped around a sapling, worked great/butter hard! Fish for food, eat it on the spot/no need to bring meat.

      Thank you. I was out for 20 days. I like fresh food as much as possible so the fridge was a big help (for me), 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 and contributing to the conversation! =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅

    She looked pretty silly wearing the mask. (In the middle of nowhere) And to not let you take your bike in....even sillier! (In the middle of nowhere) I shake my head about Maine these days. Amazing beauty but..... That's enough...some people understand. Have fun.

      Main was hit hard with the virus. I wore a mask whenever I met people since I am traveling in from out of state. I dont want to carry anything in with me (or out). I understand the reasoning and I comply. I am a guest. The logging trucks are carrying over 100,000 pounds of trees and moving pretty fast. There have been many tragic incidents there. They had a sign up showing demolished vehicles when one of those rigs hit it. This is privately owned. Comply or leave. When you use the land you are a guest. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸

    I’ve got nothing against hunting. But driving around back roads hoping to come across something just seems lazy and unsportsmanlike to me. Unless maybe you’re physically handicapped. But if the state allows it who am I to judge I guess.
