Let me tell you as a Critter named Denise I haven't felt this much whiplash since the early days of Talks. I wish I was as cool as Deni$e Murkenshmurken
Aimee tells her story. Me: Ooh, nice, a story about a background/nonexistant character that's not linked to anything, I love thaaat! Aimee: Now, listen, Dariax [...] Me: Oh God. I don't regret anything.
The moment Aimee showed up in episode 59 and pulled out her Brooklyn accent, I immediately knew it was Deni$e with the money sign and I couldn't stop giggling 😂
I think Aimee's story is the first time I straight up laughed at the original story before I hit any of the retellings. The details and how fluidly she says them is evil, the absurd throwaway lines like the "stubby" thing is hilarious, and the whole thing being an unexpected former lover of Dariax who he just forgot about and left hanging feels like it could be 100 % canon and I wouldn't be surprised.
aabria remains a one-liner machine and i remain HERE FOR IT. personal faves from this episode were “liam’s denise was a classically-trained break-up artist” and “robbie, did you ever stop and think YOU were the ‘fuck’ multiplier?”
That was always my headcanon. In the Exandria-based games I've run, Marion's core character (good mom, superb entertainer, best lay ever) is still intact, but I added one additional element: someone with such interactions with the Menagerie Coast's upper crust (and those vacationing from the Empire or the Clovis Concord) would be a hell of a sharp cookie and a conversationalist, and by extension, she would be the most well-connected woman on the Coast. Well-connected enough that even if it weren't for the Gentleman or her daughter and her friends, anyone who'd threaten her would have to think twice before trying to mistreat or demean her.
@@BoojumFed I imagine this: Fearne: "You have a lot of anger in you." Deni$e: "Yeah? No shit I got a lot of anger in me, girlie! This is like a whole story itself. Aimee’s was Denise’s plan what she wanted to say, like when you rehearse it in your head. Anjali her actual first attempt that obviously was still fine, but she was like, ‘shit, this was terrible, I screwed it all up, I need a drink’. Matt to Ashley her subsequent more and more drunk attempts to actually record it because she didn’t nail it at the first time and lost confidence. Liam her first try the next morning with a splitting hangover. Robbie her next attempt when the hangover subsided. And Aabria when Denise was like, ‘ok fuck it, this is it, it’s fine, gonna leave it at that and get this behind me’.
Usually I understand why the third person is where the story goes off the rails. Usually the second person gets a lot right but misses details, and there are little flubs that get magnified. But Anjali absolutely _killed_ it, so what's up Matt?
The second person also slows the performance down a lot I think, which doesn’t hurt the performance but makes it harder for person 3 to remember. I think that was the case here too. Definitely was a wonderful 2nd performance though! And Matt is usually the most reliable one lol I was surprised too!
Matt actually sucks at this game, that's what xD Matt is just as bad as Ashley at this game, but his panic manifests differently. Where Ashley can't bury her panic and doesn't even try, she just drops the shovel and runs, Matt tries to bury the panic *and* pretend nothing is trying to climb out of the hole.
@@aromaladyellie Kinda true, yeah. Matt uses his impressive vocabulary and writing accolades to hide the fact that he doesn't actually remember the real story. You can tell he's searching for stuff when he gets more and more verbose.
i loved her very confident “and you know who was there?!” followed by her in fact not knowing who was there and biding time by going “you know who was there it wasn’t you do you know who was there it was um uhhh…”
Being the second person is such a clutch position. The team gets one and only one chance to see the original, and that is only the person who comes up second. I hope there's a single "house husband" (Veths husband, eza?
STILL waiting for Real Housewives of Exandria
this group's chaotic energy is what i needed this monday
This particular episode especially. You got to love this.
my message won't be seen probably but i would love to see more episodes of this show, guys. Loving this so much
A legend returns to critical role
Deni$e breakup letter is officially my favorite story! Up there with Jester's Christmas story and Beau's drinking adventure
Happy C3 week critters! Can’t wait to see the next party!
🥳
Oh shit is c3e1 this Thursday?
@@aliciacordero8399 yep
@@ellierelyea8388 man, 2½ days to finish catching up on C2 lol. Well that's not gonna happen (Wednesdays I DM)
@@aliciacordero8399 Then again, who needs sleep right? Lol, kidding.
honestly a mafia-themed CR oneshot would be amazing, I could totally see it with Fiasco as the game system

suddenly I wanna see Narrative Telephone Calamity edition
I can't believe that this was so powerful that Deni$e ended up being cannon. Amazing
You don’t know the half of it
@@lostdmg7511 right?
Heartbroken that no one mentioned how funny it is that Light Eyes was sitting on Deni$e’s good chair, I was crying when she first said that
Coming back now Deni$e is canon
I am so IN LOVE with Aimee to have reprise his role of Deni$e in campaign 3, she had a lot of options decide to do the follow up of this awesome choice of story, it's AMAZING!
"You know how I feel about stubby things." Did Aimee just confirm that Dariax is hung? Canon.
so so glad Deni$e is back, hai to the C3 ep59 watchers!
Absolutely amazing. With the exception of pauses for the names I would have genuinely thought that Anjali's was the original practiced version. By the end just a jumbled mess of non-story, but seeing everyone's interpretation of that character is... *chef's kiss*
Watching this after the most recent Campaign 3 episodes is GOLDEN.
I need Liam’s C3 character to be Deni$e’s relative so he can bring the Jersey accent all campaign long and so that Deni$e can guest star
Headcanon that Dariax didnt intentionally steel/leave with the furs, but rather lost them, cause, well, he is Dariax
How many C3 Ep 59 peeps are watching this? The chaos this group has.
Perfect excuse for Liam to bring out his Jersey roots in full force! His hand-rolling 'and fuck off' bow had me rolling XD
Even though Aimee and Robbie are new at this, they're easily the best performers
Aimee brought the Joisey and Robbie brought the Camp to Eleven.
This is Anjali "Icon" Bhimani erasure!!
Bless Aimee for bringing her back. Here again to reminisce
I know these weren't the most viewed videos on the channel, but can we bring them back?! I seriously belly-laugh every time!
Deni$e is one of the most unique D&D characters i have EVER had the pleasure of listening/watching to. Aimee, you are a BEAST of a Creative.
Critical role is evidence that even in the world of voice acting being gorgeous is is a plus. My god these people are beautiful!
that's because voice acting is still acting, they're all living in LA, and the only way to be taken seriously in Hollywood (even when nobody will see your face) is to look good. People who don't look good aren't given any chances, regardless of their talent. It's a superficial world.
@@kerstinsweeney373 well, there was Mel Blanc, lol. I hear ya though.
I love that Deni$e is canon and has met Orym and Fearne now.
So Travis has really started a trend, huh. Not mad about it.
Theorizing that Prism's book used to be the archivist Matt played in NT2.1 that was trying to gather first-hand accounts of Vox Machina.
Deni$e spent 2000 gold on that one-way box? She had to know that she was going be making a net loss spending that money to get back some furs.
Here waiting for people to discover Denise
Only seen the clips at the beginning and I am already sure this is going to be INCREDIBLE
Love Aimee's story, absolutely gold lmao and always Ashley with the downhill fall man lmaoooo
As much as I adore Opal, I feel robbed that we did not get Deni$e. I hope we get a chance to see Aimee playing her.
Your wish came true 😄
