As a Spaniard I realized something that most didn't. The ganados have a really bad Mexican accent despite being rural spaniards. It's as if you played a game where Californians had a very bad Scottish accent.
TyrStark theres a lot of these linguistic fuckups in games. Theres a cal of duty game where they have the wrong language in the wrong alphabet translated on all the posters and stuff so all the text is non language gibberish

What always made me laugh is the little animation they gave Leon when he has to catch Ashley when she jumps off ledges while she’s wearing the suit of armor, Leon will catch her but then he’ll grip his lower back and struggle to get up, as if he threw his back out catching her hahah
Yeah and knowing she can actually climb ladders herself makes fighting the urge to shoot the Ashley very hard.

If RE4 was to be released for the first time in this era, Ada's two side stories and the other outfits would've been on disc DLC for 9.99
outfits alone = $4.99 and side stories = $9.99, those reward weapon bundle $9.99.
The only way to stop that from continuing to happen is to stop buying DLC packs. Your dollar is your voice, and when you give them your dollar you give them your approval.

I wouldn’t say the tank controls aged bad, it’s more about just getting used to them. I always think the same thing when I boot up RE4 or 5 but by the time I beat the first level of both games I’m already back in the groove

The thing about RE4 is that it took you out of your comfort zone. You never knew what to expect next and it was usually something new. One second you are fighting a village hellbent on ending you and the next 2 giants ready to crush you into dust
RE4 was a freak of nature. it did so many things right, Pure quality from top to bottom.
I remember when I first got this game back in middle school as soon as it came out. "Was an amazing game" was how I felt when I completed it. I'm 25 now,and looking back at it....I'd say it's the best game of that decade.

TimtheEnchanter It's funny you say that. The island was one of the more interesting parts mainly cuz of the regenerators. When I saw that thing I freaked...when I started blasting it with bullets and it didnt take damage I went into full on panic mode.

What really pushes RE4 above most comparable games is the sheer variety in combinations of what are essentially the same basic set-ups using the same basic mechanics. I'd guess most people took ~20 hours on their first playthrough, and for like 80% of that (if not more) it's just Leon with his normal run, shoot, and contextual interaction abilities while the game bends its encounter design, enemy design, and rules around you over, and over, and over again. Considering you kill somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,000 enemies by the end of the game, that's pretty incredible. Then, not only is combat pacing and tension managed well, but the game knows exactly when to slow down outside of those sequences WITHOUT FORCIBLY SLOWING THE PLAYER to let you catch your breath and restock. It's crazy for a game that went through as many revisions as RE4 did over a development cycle as long as it had to still feel so meticulous. It's one thing for Nintendo to pull this off with their big Mario platformers where level design and gimmicks can go wild and still fit the game, but it's another thing to do this in a shooter that has some sort of logical consistency.
It's not perfect, no game is, but I still hold RE4 in a class of its own.

what's your favorite area of the game? Village, Castle, or Island? it's really hard to choose but i would probably go with with the castle. All of the areas are great in their own way.

Such a sad ending to a good movie. "I think we'll be alright, Léon." And then that specific song starts playing. I wanted to cry after that.
Fun fact: RE4 was part of the Capcom Five, a deal with Nintendo to produce 5 Gamecube exclusives, and which turned out to be a massive failure because 3 of those games (RE4, Viewtiful Joe and Killer7) ended up on PS2 anyway, one of them (Dead Phoenix) was never even finished, and the only one to actually stay a Gamecube exclusive (PN03) is considered to not be very good.
And this was an awful move on Mikami's part to say the least. The RE series went back to Sony and out of Nintendo's hands. Nintendo was not a platform to promote the RE series.

I thought RE4 was the perfect balance between horror and action. Sure, there was a *little* more action than previous games, but there were enough quiet moments, creepy areas and terrifying enemies to scare me many times when I first played it.
Garrador? Verdugo? Invisable Novistadors? Plagas infected dogs? And especially Regenerators?
5&6 just went way too far with the action though.
Yeah playing RE6 made me feel like a granny I was trying to catch my breath and a new explosion would happen lol, though I have to admit as a fan of The mercenaries mode, RE6 has the best mechanics.

Revelations 2 is quite good imo, I think the story is great and the raid mode is entertaining however I feel like some mechanics should have staid like in RE6.
Not sure about the story in Revelations 1 though, haven't played since I haven't heard too many good comments on it.
@@darksouls8667 Eh, Resident Evil Revelations was amazing for the good ole' 3DS because it was a horror game on a console that didn't have much of that genre. It's amazing for that reason, but then it was put on every freaking console and it was mediocre at best of a horror game compared to Dead Space, Silent Hill HD Collection, and even F.E.A.R 2 on Xbox 360. Revelations were amazing for being a niche market, but it had massive flaws I believe. Then Resident Evil Revelations 2 was god awful with its story, introduced characters (you only give a fuck about Claire and Barry essentially and Barry gets the shit end of the campaign), the co-op system is absolutely boring where I feel bad for having a friend play Barry's daughter because the A.I. just sucks and swapping in between the characters too. Revelation is A LOT better than the sequel considering its story was meant to be a Noire and stuff even with the cliches. But Raid Mode was dope, it was pretty fun in both games but a side project does not make a game good. XD
i actually really liked the first revelations but it did just kinda feel like it was a rip off of Cold Fear i mean the enemies looked different and it was easier but its a horror/action game on a ship for the most part, also i believe it was the first RE that you could aim and move in which Cold Fear did 7 years earlier, i dont know if it was the first to do so in the non 2d era but it was the first id seen (theres was another game with Fear in the title cant remember the first part of the name but it was a 2d game)

Fun Fact: The first time I played this I thought that the Yellow Herbs was for poison. I spent 99.9% of the game without upgrading my health. It was a hard, but a very satisfying journey.

@Sagistar It won't; the switch doesn't use an infrared pointer and is physically not able to have pointer controls of any kind. Gyro controls would probably be the closest it could get.
Thats the one I played! The 360 version felt like such a downgrade when I got it years after to replay it.

The best part about the Wii version is you don't have to button mash in the running sections. I could never do Professional Mode reliably in the GameCube version just because of those sections due to me being super slow at mashing.

The first one I was introduced to was actually the original RE2 in 1998 when I was 8 years old. But me and my cousin couldn’t make it passed the very first section to get to the police station because we were too scared and kept dying. I finally had the courage to play a Resident Evil game in 2005 when RE4 came out and it was creepy but not too scary. RE4 is what got me into the franchise and now Resident Evil is my favourite series of games hands down; 6 is still the worst lol.

I just finished RE4 for the very 1st time EVER! Now I can't wait for the remake.
I love how much content there is to unlock in this game while playing over and over doesn't get boring. There are definitely parts that feel dragged out longer than it should have, and maybe a section or two that feel a bit harder than it should be, it's still a fantastic game.
Your show made me a completionist too, and I love making the most of seemingly short games with this new mentality.
After 6 years of this, I really wish most games had completion bonuses now.

My dad and I have played this game for hundreds of hours over a few years of my childhood. It’s very special to me. It was a multi year long adventure me and my father went on together, we experienced all the laughter horror and puzzle solving as father and son. He taught me so much over the course of this game as I of course had many questions about logic and the emotions of the characters. My dad still plays the Mercenary mode to this day. This game did more than its job in marking my life and my relationship with my father permanently.
I've haven't seen your show in a while but coming back to you playing RE4 and that amazing donut skit feels great

"Serenity" is still in my opinion, the best track in any RE games for just being REALLY unique and REALLY good as a mood setter.

For people just wanting to get INTO Re4 there is a full on fan remaster of 4 being made, the man behind it has gone so far as to visit different places in the WORLD where the original artists got their inspirations for the textures to make full 4K textures out of them that are even better than the original.
It's got several editions out now, but the whole game isn't finished and probably won't be till early-mid 2020, but it's shaping up to be a MUCH better graphical upgrade than the HD version. Still requires the OG HD version though, so don't think about pirating it through that.

Chiaki was never seen playing more than a handheld game and 1 game on a tv I seriously question her title of ultimate gamer. They pushed her more as a love interest when they should have focused more on the characters special trait....like you know...every other character.

As for the anime DR3.... that was just one flaw in a very flawed entry.

My first time playing through this game was about a month and a half ago and... Jesus. This game is a masterpiece. It blew me away. I played through it over the course of four days and I was consistently engaged and dumbfounded over how much fun it was. It was so amazing. Already one of my favorite games of all time, HANDS DOWN.

I adored this game when it came out on GameCube, and I played through it a couple of times, including doing Mercenaries and Assignment Ada. That was a huge deal to me, because while I liked the previous games and probably did see the endings of all of them, it was only ever through a bit of controller-passing, or straight-up watching my particularly fearless friend play. This one though? This one I devoured completely thanks to all the changes mentioned in this video, and I love it for that.
And the reason I said all that is the fact that I totally don't recognize some of the stuff featured in the video, because it's been a solid 10 or 12 years since I've played it. Damn! I may need to download it on PS4.

I played this game for the first time last year. I know, I'm late, but it totally deserves all the praise and love that it gets. It was an amazing experience. The soundtrack, the atmosphere, the action, and the comedy (even when it's unintentional). It all blended so perfectly. I loved it.

Gotta say RE4 is one of my all time favorite games. The gameplay is fun, the quick time events are alright and watching Leon go as far as to SUPLEX enemies to save ammo is just satisfying. Hell I even enjoy sorting my inventory in this game.
Not to mention the Merchant that makes you feel like you mede the worst deal ever whenever he laughs at you.
I am a little bit disappointed that he didn't mention the fancy trick Leon makes when using the mafia suit and reloding with the Typewriter.

I came back to watch this since I just had the craziest dream it was like a prequel to RE4 where they villagers were first getting infected and the "Big Cheese" was protecting a group of survivors and he eventually got shot in the head (in the eye) infected with Las Plagas and had the glass eye put in and then was tasked with hunting down the survivors he was trying to save earlier and they had to try and escape the village.. I love my imagination I always have crazy dreams like this and I love it
