AutoVlog, during the break in period, you are supposed to vary the cars speed and rpm, like with stop and go traffic, as long as you are under the break-in limits. Constant highway driving during the break-in period isn't recommended. Have a great day!

Great video Mike...love the car! Also black is brutal... I have it on my C300, advice would be to get some kind of protectant over the front bumper for rock chips! You need to do it ASAP before rock chips appear... it gets really bad on black Mercedes.

Thats what we like about you Mike, you don't hide your mistakes and take responsibility for your actions. That piece if road where you almost crashed has quite a bit if camber falli ng away to the left. This may have accentuated your drift to the left and loss of control. Have you priced a pair of rear tyres for your C 63 s? love to know what the retail is on them per tire in Pa. What ever it is it will be x3 where I live. looking fwd to your full review.

Great footage and vlog! That car is a beast! We learn to respect a powerful car when things get outta hand. I learned the hard way as well when I had my maiden voyage in my 08 Corvette after getting boost. 10 lbs. of boost, big cam, and a stall;; 650hp at the rear wheels. I went sideways at 70 mph... luckily no one was in the other lane and I was able to recover and continue on my way. After that I learned to respect the power, admire the car's abilities, and savor the sweet sound of an American small block LS motor.
The AMG bi-Turbo V8 is a nasty, yet sophisticated animal. Wrangle her power effectively, and she's damn near perfect anyway you cut it. The color, and "red cut" package interior is classy as all get out! Fantastic spec, and I wish you thousands of happy miles!

FYI, because you have the electric "easy access trunk lid opening & closing", you do NOT need to get out of your car to close the trunk (and go through the embarrassment)!!
You can simply HOLD the "open trunk lid" button (on the driver side door **NOT ON THE KEY**) and it should close itself

When you replace the rears. Get the trofeo R. My friend did it on his and you get more grip on these then the other ones. It's around 1k for rears but the difference is night and day. I drove it today and there's literately no wheel spin from the start. I launched it on race and it felt so grippy. No wheel spin

When you first left the house you got out to close the trunk. You do not have to get out of the car to close the trunk. Simply toggle the opposite direction on the trunk release toggle switch in the door. You may have discovered this by now but just wanted to mention just in case you didn't.

  • @rubjim2

In some ways this AMG looks like Mercedes' version of a rounded off BMW. I remember back in the day, AMG's were all wide and tough looking with the fender flares and squared angles. Much prefer that old school look but these modern cars are obviously still great.

When you turn on the car press the start engine button twice until the electronics turn on but without your foot on the brake so the car doesn't start. Then hit the sport exhaust button so that the car starts with the valves open. Then foot on the brake and start it up - it will startup with the valves fully open and be much louder

I had a scary moment in my RX8 once, it had snowed and I had an 80 mile commute at the time. it was one of those late october snow storms a few years back and i hadnt yet swapped my tires or put weights in the rear. luckily, I made it home after crawling and sliding for 2 hours, but once I saw my apartment building a quarter mile away I got a little impatient. Turning into my street I did a slide that, instantly, goes a little bit sideways. As I slide toward the cars parked on the opposite side of the st, all I can think of is how stupid of me to crash so close to home after a grueling and slow drive. God is great, cus I managed to correct the slide just enough to miss the minivan and drive up the sidewalk. no damage. I was shaking like a frozen puppy all the way home. those near misses will haunt you, but then you'll appreciate the learning curve and really enjoy getting the most out of your car.

thing with the break-in period, it doesn't really matter how far through it is, its still going to damage the car until its had its break-in service, still have all the tiny bits of metal in the oil and things like that which can damage your car before the break-in service has been done

They say you can experience all 4 seasons here in Port Elizabeth South Africa! It's most definitely true. I was going to fly my friends Dji Phantom 3 advance, it was all sunny and hot no wind at all. When I arrived at his house, it was blowing check, the clouds were rolling in and cold. PE is also known as "The Windy city" because it's NORMAL for the wind to blow at about 55-60 km/h (37 miles per hour). It usually blows like that in the late afternoon.

don't worry about the break in period, that won't kill you, but your shit driving will

I was not aware that new cars still need the breaking period.
I know it's not even close to be the same but my 2017 Peugeot 208 didn't need one (according to the service book).

Glad it was an "almost crash". I remember when Matt's car from SubaruWRXFan got hit just after he got the mustang GT and that repair process took way too long.

Engine break in period and doing burn-outs? Almost losing control and nearly crashing is equally stupid. Not interested in subbin, I've got a real V8 M156

The point is that you are losing warranty for your engine when ignoring brake period.

  • @CarGuy11

On my C7 you can just turn off trac control and leave stability control on. See if that is an option as it will only step in at times like that getting sideways.

Even with the title my heart jumped when you did that burnout. I respect the control you had recovering from it. Time to learn those new settings before you do that again. I love that it's murdered out. That exhaust note is sweet. Me and my Sonic are jealous😕. Great with the tints now it's much better looking.

  • @antisnafu

lol, i know where this is at. Pretty impressive since that is a downhill burnout and there is a massive dip on the uphill side of the road pretty close to where you lost it. Also, pretty ballzy to be doing burnouts in the middle of Robinson during the day. Luckily every business on that hill is out of business besides the hotel. I don't know if you have it but you should get that Benz a 3M wrap on all forward surfaces. Protect that paint.

Yeah hitting the brakes, while the back is lose is bad, best option is to get off the throttle while correcting the steering wheel in the direction you are going, not too much. You may get some old, cheap tires, go burnout and drift and get to know your car, in a safe place of course.

I'm highly surprised you didn't mention the dip in the road. I recon that the rear wheels went a little lighter when the front went into the dip, as for all the weight is transferring. Kinda hard to tell though.

The brakes didn't cause the slide. It was the curvature of the road. The car was already pointed toward the trees before you touched the brakes.
