nah, the worst would be sellers selling them a little cheaper than the original (like $5) so more people would come and buy them instead of reputable sellers/stores that sell the real ones.
12:00 there is a software that allows you to change the color of the connected controllers, you can do it on original Pro Controllers too, I change the connected color because I have 2 standard edition, so its easier for me to tell which one is connected
3:31 I can confirm that Japanese ones do come with the sticker bar code on the protective wrap. I bought a splatoon 2 Nintendo switch pro controller from a legit seller.
I think I got a fake Xenoblade one. It was cheaper than a lot of places. It does feel quite cheap and plasticy and it has even started to crack beneath the A button. It’s buttons were teal and there was a sticker on the packaging so they have been improved since this video.
My younger brother bought 2 of the smash pro controllers for $70 from someone. Sounded too good to be true but he still bought. I bought 1 of them off of him. It looked legit. The paint is perfect, the logo is centered and even the analog sticks have the multiple rings like you showed on the real controller. But then I noticed amiibos didn't work. I took it apart and the rumble is cheap, no thank you message on the board and the battery doesn't have the nintendo logo. I'm convinced it might be a real shell but everything inside is cheap. I also noticed the rumble was super strong compared to my other pro controller. Seriously feels 3 times stronger than normal. That was another give away. Disappointed in people selling fakes as real controllers.
There seems to be more and more fakes coming out and getting better at looking real. I'm going to go into more detail in another video and will break down everything a bit better, this video was just a quick one to alert the community.
I just bought a fake one like yesterday , fr thought it was legit it feels good even rumbles is good feels like Xbox one rumble , ig I'll keep it it doesn't feel bad and I got it for cheap 😭
@@diegog4123 Haha i literally bought one that was claimed to be legit, but turned out to be fake. The rumble gave it away, i have a legit pro controller and the difference in vibration is huge lol. Managed to get a refund tho :)
People are reporting bad quality with the fake controllers like permanently bent analog sticks, less sensitive sticks which affects ppl who play fighting games like SSB, so I think getting original is still better
I got a controller (xenoblade edition) that was only $55 on ebay yet every single thing you covered about being fake seems to be real so I don't even know anymore. -Plastic on top had cutout -Joysticks have multiple rings -Screws in legs seem good quality -Green lights seem square -No bad paint job around d-pad Unfortunately I don't have a real pro controller to compare it against but I'm going to try to see if a friend has one I can borrow. The only test left is if the NFC works or not. The plastic bag did not have the barcode though, that's the only thing off. I can't tell if they just watched this and fixed everything or maybe this is a cheaper one straight from the factory or something.
Heres another solid way to find out if your controller is real. Go to system settings and then calibrate controller > Calibrate sticks. Try to make small circles. If the dot keeps latching on to the x/y axis and doesn’t allow you to make smooth uninterrupted circles, then its a fake. This was the defining moment I knew mine was fake. It passed all the other tests too
Wtf was that? Where is connection test? Battery life? NFC chip test? Gyroscope test? All I can hear is - fake feels cheap, real feels expensive. Fake, fake, fake, real, real, real People want real review to see real difference between "real" and "fake"
OMG, dudes, this was not a "review," but an attempt to demonstrate the physical differences. Maybe he could not do all those tests that numerous others have done, but still felt the desire to help his fellow human by describing his direct experience. This helped me identify my knockoff, because he provided details I have not found elsewhere. Furthermore, he concludes that one should not settle for the knockoff, but seek the original. This provided a nugget of subjectivity to tie it all up in a little bow. Good video.
andrew wolfe hold on, even though it is merely a physical review, it includes presence of nfc reader and others like gyroscope feature. He even did a test on working on Switch and he completely forget to do those
I will admit that i did buy it, but sadly there are stores that ONLY sell those for the sake of giving consumers a cheap alternative. I'm not kidding, i went to GameStop and they ONLY had either those or the PowerA wired ones, so i had no choice but to buy this fakeout since i needed a controller soon.
This makes me nervous as hell to buy one online lol. They're hard to find now, and basically impossible to find in person so you're forced to buy online and could possibly pay like $90 for a fake. I'm probably just gonna get a regular pro controller instead sometime
My local game shop got by some miracle one in stock. I saw it today and bought it without thinking twice about it. I had been looking for it for so long and I wouldn’t dare to order it.
I got a fake one recently and I couldn’t tell. It felt just like the real one except the rumble was different and when I shook it I could hear rattling. The buttons, dpad, and sticks felt the same. Even had the same dpad issues you get with the real one. I’m not very familiar with the switch pro controller so I didn’t notice it until I tried to update the firmware and it wouldn’t update.
Did you end up weighing these controllers? I have a suspicion that my Xenoblade Chronicles 2 controller is fake. It's crazy how well it works with everything on the Switch: -Amiibo's register and work with it -The buttons and controls don't feel that different from the original (really hard to tell and in my case could be placebo) -Can wake up switch from sleep -It does not go to sleep if left on with the console -All button markings and dpad markings are in turquoise The three things that stood out were: 1) Battery. For a controller imported from Japan, the battery only has English on it, no Nintendo branding, and also matches pictures people have posted about batteries used in fake controllers 2) This controller weighs 26 grams less than the original pro controller. This one weighs 224gms, the original weighs 250gms. 3) the box has a more muted color than the original pro controller box. There is a slight gloss sheen on the original box and more pop and contrast in the image. The fake controller box is more matte finish.
Seeing that you said "imported from Japan" makes me quite nervous now, I was considering using Yahoo Auctions to get a Xenoblade one, but with how good they are getting, I'm not sure if I should pass too
I was just looking at the smash bros pro controller on ebay and i was even thinking theres no way the seller just has a bunch of these and is selling them for only $45
i bought the regular black pro controller on christmas and it just arrived today. i didnt really care for the themed ones and i could always put a cute skin on it. it was $10 off its original price from brandsmart usa so i think i could trust them. im just glad i got it for cheaper at a lower price too!
Just bought a fake Sony ps4 controller for 30 from a girl on offer up. It was my fault I should have inspected the controller before handing over the money but I truly believed people wouldn't be that evil. After I got in the car I took a better look at it and something felt off right off the bat. It felt WAY too light. I thought they could have took out the rumble for parts but it became more and more apparent that it was a fake. The analogs weren't the right height and the color was a tad bit off. I would know because it's my favorite ps4 controller of all time. Alpine green. But it was similar enough to where I didnt notice it in the pictures or without closer inspection. What made me know for sure it was a fake was how off the printing was for the "EXT" port and headphone Jack printing. It was too high and off center. I know this has nothing to do with a fake switch pro controller but just be careful who you buy stuff from and if it's fake or real. I suggest looking up these type of videos before you impulse buy like me. It would have saved me 30 bucks. Also it's against offer up regulations to sell fake products. I tried to sell if back on offer up openly stating that I got scammed and was just trying to get some money back by selling this knock off ps4 controller. A couple minutes later I got a notification from offer up and they told me my post was removed because they dont allow selling of fake products. I even messaged the person back and asked if they were aware they sold me a fake ps4 controller and I want my money back. She tried to tell me she bought it from gamestop for 60 and that I got a good deal on it. The fact that she thought I got a good deal on it was what made me suspicious she knew what she was doing. She was probably thinking she got a good deal in it too when she bought it off of ebay for 30 bucks. It was clearly fake and she knew it. I told her she could keep 10 I just want 20 back and I would even put in a good review for her since we already took each others time to come out and meet up. She stopped messaging me after that. She had 0 reviews on her profile. I assume she scammed a lot of people too on other things.
just got a xc2 controller from a reputable seller on mercari for an absolute steal and everything checks out compared to my regular black pro controller from target 🔥 was worried after seeing ur video but it arrived and is beautiful
Omg I just ordered a Xenoblade Chronicles2 controller off eBay. You just saved me! I was already stressed out worrying if it was a fake or not. I have free returns so if this baby isn't real it's going back!! It was $55 for it free shipping. My switch will be here today I've waited since 2017 to be able to afford one I am not going to be scammed into a knock-off!! I even bought the Animal Crossing bundle with that Game and Watch and a Nintendo card. I've been waiting to play Skyward Sword and I'm not going to play it on a knock-off!! Bless you sir!! And I am most certainly going to pass off your video and information to everyone. I might even put this on my Facebook game group pages. This video must be passed on into the Nintendo community. I only found this by accident.. or was it... By googling, are all authentic Nintendo controllers the same? Because I wondered if those made in China or any different from those made in Japan. I just couldn't see Nintendo having their logo on a controller that wasn't theirs. I have never even seen any of those Smash Brothers boxes that look like the real one on anything sale site I've been on looking for controllers this past month. I bought two for my grandson, the black ones. But this lady wanted to go styling because I've waited so long to get one. So, it's probably a fake coming. You just saved me $60. I think I'm just going to stick to the black controller and decorate it ☺️ 🎮 ♥️ 👏 applause
Funny thing that you describe useless aspects like "cheap plastic" instead of pointing out inmediatly that fake one doesn't have the official Nintendo seal.
Y'know? The quality of these fakes has improved to sucj a degree that I don't mind getting a fake one for cheaper if the colors are nice. I got a fake Splatoon 2 one recently for about $35 and it works quite nicely despite not being the real deal. I just really like that color scheme. Got the same colored joy cons too, only those are actually legit lol.
I accidentally bought one of these off eBay 😅 going to be careful next time 😂🎮 their listing looked very convincing! Don’t be like me, read everything and check for actual pictures!
Not gonna lie, I'd love to get one on amazon, but they're $95 and could possibly be trying to sell a fake one. Plus the sellers dont really show any pics of the box of the controller
You can tell it's Nintendo licensed by the label that says "Nintendo Switch" under it. All of the fake controllers do not have that label. You can also check the title. If it's complex, then it's most likely fake.
I'm not sure if I got scammed, I found one that was for 74$ but it was in sale for 65$ hopefully i didnt get scammed, the thing is I didnt order it from ebay or Amazon, so I have no idea if they just stole my money and aren't gonna give me anything
I just bought a smash pro controller (yes, 3 years after the special editon) from japan. Everything seems legit, even so after checking all of the factors that you mentioned in your video. Something is off though: The rumble is absolutely broken. It is WAY TOO intense (on Switch AND pc) and its not HD rumble (I can tell with games like mario kart or the vibration pattern when you connect a controller) Now I am not sure if I got a REALLY well-made fake or if something broke inside the controller during shipping...
these are probably scraped controllers that didnt fit the product standards that were taken and sold for extra cash. thats why their connection is great because its actual nintendo hardware. theres so many nintendo factories that are sourced in different places, its bound to happen
Damn I just bought one for 90 on eBay. The seller had very good reviews but I didn't see any reviews that mentioned if it was official or not. It does say it's by Nintendo but other than that I won't really know till I get it in 5 days. Just ordered it last night. Do y'all think I'll be good or?
Personally, I wouldn't have even went to Ebay and you paid that price. Just go to Amazon and you'd be paying around the same price, with more legitimacy.
I think you missed the point of the video. It is about how to tell the difference between a real and fake pro controller. This is exactly the video I was looking for because I wanted to know if the pro controller I got was real or not. You need to search videos about reviewing fake pro controllers.
I bought one, and its very strange, the box is fake ( I think the cable too) but the controller is real, Its the classic battery used by nintendo, the hidden message its the original, it works good, nice feel, It is just the original. Is there another method to prove its fake?
In that case I would assume that its a real controller that got sold as complete just by adding a fake cable and box. Sometimes its harder to sell the controller on its own so people get a fake box and cable to make it look complete. And since it has the hidden message I’d say it’s probably real. If it has the feel and everything then yeah
i bought mine here in Spain, Nintendo switch on every place, plastic with serial number sticker, hidden message and bought for 35€...in don't think this one shown here is fake....@@Bernkastel-S117
Thank you, i watch your video yesterday and when i went to buy my zelda pro controller japanese version today i almost get a fake at the same.price than the original, if it wasnt for the closest look at the sticks, and the rings, i wouldnt realized it. In this situationThe fake one has the nintendo word and the switch logo behind, but the box and the wrapping of the fake doesnt have the barcode and the qr. Thanks to you and the other guy from other video i bought the original. In the switch mine apears black and white in the right grip (proof of fire) ❤. Sorry for my bad english.
Actually now the fake is more realistic So this Is not how to know fake controllers This Is How To Make A Real fake controller. This always happened in TH-cam Like TH-camrs always make this vid to help us but the fake makers watch this vid too.
Okay I opened up my box afraid, on my Xenoblade Chronicle 2 controller. Same box you have on your video. Lots of Ring around The thumbsticks. I did notice though on the left handle on the inside.. N9SP1AC . At first I thought it was a imperfection or a scratch. Do any of the other Nintendo Pro controllers have a number on the left hand grip? My keypads are turquoise not white. The bag was thick like you described but it did have the sticker on the plastic bag. There is no Nintendo seal on the back of the box. No the top was not sealed with sticker. It feels heavy. I'm not so sure about the plastic because I've been on a GameCube controller for most of my life. I am just now upgrading to a Nintendo Switch. I'm 60 , but not dumb as a rock. The plastic on the front, that little circle you were talking about there is a cut out over it looks like a U cut. I have not got a flashlight to look up in the hole. But I'm really confused as to the one you had in that box and to the one I'm got in my hand now out of the box just exactly like that. So I just wanted you to know. Does anybody know about numbers on the controller handle?
This fake one looks nice to me, where can I buy it? It just works perfectly I was looking for a 3th party controller cause the original one is very expensive here in Brazil our currency is like a crap
Thanks! Yeah some info on Amazon was slightly confusing so I went to TH-cam for a review of the controller and sure enough haha yup I was right - fakes. What about the battery compartment? Does official Nintendo take AA batteries?
I just bought the xc2, and it looks amazingly similar to the original, the only thing i could notice is the obviously faked “thmx 2 all game fans” inside, and the facts that i can’t wake the switch with it or update the firmware. I guess is a good generic controller, since the original is just too expensive for a controller, and much better to use than the flimsy original joycons. I’ve been waiting a lot to get my switch and now that i have it i’m kind of disappointed of the quality in general.
I wouldn’t rely on it having the durability and responsiveness of the real one. Neither the battery. But if its for simple gaming it’ll probably get the job done
Buy a Power A wireless controller, they are officially approved by Nintendo and are very good. There is no NFC reader in them but if you have no Amiibos, then you wouldn't need that function. The white Running Mario controller is super cool looking too.
It’s so hard to buy one of these that’s real I returned 5 fakes trying to get the special editions on eBay and Amazon. They got the Easter egg right now on the fakes. Best way to tell for real is completely take it apart and look at the vibrators and the board. Compare it to real board. Also the battery a lot of times fake ones come with a generic 800 mah instead Nintendo branded 1300 mah.
@@dionelzapata3659 I thought the same thing, but I went into it with a screwdriver when I received it today. The characters on the circuit board were the brown like on the official smash pro in this video, 6 prongs, silver inside screws, Easter egg message under right stick was correct size/font, and it had the small hd rumble component visible after pulling off the handles and the Nintendo battery exactly like the one in the video as well. So it turned out to be legitimate. I've just got a tears of the kingdom controller... compared to your box it doesn't even say Nintendo on the box just a switch logo in the top left... is there a serious issue with this or should I get this returned?
The shoulder buttons are connected via a small ribbon cable. It's probably just not seated properly, that's how I fixed my fake pro controller which didn't function properly on arrival.
You'd be surprised to know that it says in the manual: "This product is not designed, manufactured, approved, sponsored, or endorsed by Nintendo".

Its pretty crazy how legit these look and its hard to trust amazon or ebay when buying these.
I got mine for 30 dollars, best thing is that it is the real thing
Never give up even if you got the fake one, don’t be let down.
Wish I would've looked closer at the buttons on the review picture smh I'm getting shipped a fake xenoblade controller for christmas smh
best way to find out is the Vibration motors on it they are loud like a sqeek noise when they rumble.
the real or fake?
So many fakes on eBay and Amazon. I always buy from a reputable store if I want something genuine.
its exactly the same controller without the brand name. have both and its pratically the same
Funfact: fake one use the original board too.their quality thats makes the different
I accidentally bought one of these off eBay 😅 going to be careful next time 😂🎮 their listing looked very convincing! Don’t be like me, read everything and check for actual pictures!
If you get what you expected your accomplishment is finished- Martin Luther King
Not gonna lie, I'd love to get one on amazon, but they're $95 and could possibly be trying to sell a fake one. Plus the sellers dont really show any pics of the box of the controller
I got my 60$ and its was real
The $95 dollar one is real tho very expensive
@@ninjax2746 how do you know
@@Vahig7 Cause I bought it
You can tell it's Nintendo licensed by the label that says "Nintendo Switch" under it.
It is WAY TOO intense (on Switch AND pc) and its not HD rumble (I can tell with games like mario kart or the vibration pattern when you connect a controller)
Now I am not sure if I got a REALLY well-made fake or if something broke inside the controller during shipping...
I heard the fakes improved even more after this video was created. Very terrifying lol
these are probably scraped controllers that didnt fit the product standards that were taken and sold for extra cash. thats why their connection is great because its actual nintendo hardware. theres so many nintendo factories that are sourced in different places, its bound to happen
Another way to find out : from the Home page, go to Settings then try to update the controller's firmware. If you're stuck at 0%, it's fake.
why you didn't tried to update the controllers software?
Thank you very much your video helped me to return my fake new pro controller and buy new real one
Think I may of brought a fake one :(
:( See if you can get a refund!
How much did you pay for it?
Yeet
@@rareviceversa4305 Yeet indeedo.
Me too, I pay $70 :(
7:25 oddly enough, the led shape on the fake one reminds me of the New 3DS notification light
What is the weight of the original and fake controller?
Thanks for this video, I got mine today (also Japanese) and thought now it's fake but this video showed me that it is the real deal✌️👽
Maybe but the fakes gotten really better since this video
There is also no Nintendo gold seal on the box. I personally called customer service and they told me no seal means fakey fakey
Damn I just bought one for 90 on eBay. The seller had very good reviews but I didn't see any reviews that mentioned if it was official or not. It does say it's by Nintendo but other than that I won't really know till I get it in 5 days. Just ordered it last night. Do y'all think I'll be good or?
what happened?
Personally, I wouldn't have even went to Ebay and you paid that price. Just go to Amazon and you'd be paying around the same price, with more legitimacy.
If the fugaze is cheap and reliable I can't be mad at it, Nintendos prices are out of line.
The most clearest sign of it being fake is the Nintendo Switch written on the center of console is embossed wrong.
thank you. you saved me a lot of time and frustration
You missed the important part, how do they work compared to the original ones, cause that's what's important not of you think its crap made.
I think you missed the point of the video. It is about how to tell the difference between a real and fake pro controller.
This is exactly the video I was looking for because I wanted to know if the pro controller I got was real or not.
You need to search videos about reviewing fake pro controllers.
Are these the ones that have a wake up function and NFC for Amiibo?
Make a teardown please
To know which one is real is the the weight and paint on the controller
Thank you, i watch your video yesterday and when i went to buy my zelda pro controller japanese version today i almost get a fake at the same.price than the original, if it wasnt for the closest look at the sticks, and the rings, i wouldnt realized it. In this situationThe fake one has the nintendo word and the switch logo behind, but the box and the wrapping of the fake doesnt have the barcode and the qr. Thanks to you and the other guy from other video i bought the original. In the switch mine apears black and white in the right grip (proof of fire) ❤. Sorry for my bad english.
Lmao I almost bought a fake Smash Bros pro controller. It didn't even have the Switch logo. And it was only like $35.99 💀
Actually now the fake is more realistic
So this Is not how to know fake controllers
This Is How To Make A Real fake controller.
This always happened in TH-cam
Like TH-camrs always make this vid to help us but the fake makers watch this vid too.
Yes the real one feels different, the smell too
bru, i dont know if its late but this fake one can wake the switch no? Thanks for this video btw!
dude i got one from ebay last night saw this in the morning FFFFF, hope the cancelation goes through
thank god at least he canceled it, bro i almost got scammed thanks
It does not have the Nintendo golden seal that the official one have, soo always check out the box for the golden seal
This fake one looks nice to me, where can I buy it? It just works perfectly I was looking for a 3th party controller cause the original one is very expensive here in Brazil our currency is like a crap
You can bought it in Wish.
You can bought it in Tokopedia (for Indonesian)
Thanks! Yeah some info on Amazon was slightly confusing so I went to TH-cam for a review of the controller and sure enough haha yup I was right - fakes. What about the battery compartment? Does official Nintendo take AA batteries?
It does not...
Chris barrientos Thanks! Amazon says it does lol. Fishy fishy.
I have a bunch of eBay Chinese knock off special edition pros. they r pretty good in quality not just cosmetics
i just bought one i’m not sure if it’s fake but it probably is because it’s only 30$
Bought mine from GameStop and me and the employee examined it before I purchased since it was pricey. I got lucky
I am getting a 3rd party controller from amazon for 25.99 it doesnt have a logo because its 3rd party obviously but do u think it will work fine?
Also the battery a lot of times fake ones come with a generic 800 mah instead Nintendo branded 1300 mah.
but there actually cheap so u dont have to waste money for just a controller
Nfc?
I’ve tried everything yet still feel like it’s fake even though it passes every video I’ve watched
Ну тут подделку можно сразу определить по кривой надписи NS! 🙈 Good video! 👍😏
The clone is pretty good for 24$!!
Mike C umm, no you’d prefer buying a wired controller for 30$
No i would raher buy a fake for $30
@@mauvuong9974 wired one dies in about 2 months after some hardcore smash ultimate.
Dilutilizer I had mine for over 4 months and it still works
I just ordered one off ebay for $70, wish me luck LOL. The logo looked properly aligned in the picture...i think i'm ok
No way you got a legit Smash Brothers Limited Edition Pro controller for 70..
The video I'm referring to goes way more in-depth on fakes, you should check it out if you haven't: th-cam.com/video/izvoG1a5JJQ/w-d-xo.html

Will the controller work if i plugged the controller to a pc?
You saved my money, thanks a lot!
ive tried them, other stuff feels great but the analog stick is very...rough? dont play fps games with it.
I've just got a tears of the kingdom controller... compared to your box it doesn't even say Nintendo on the box just a switch logo in the top left... is there a serious issue with this or should I get this returned?
The real Procon SSBU can wake up sleep?
Arif Aulia yeah
With the home button
Does it play great?
Bought a fake one on purpose and the l button isn't working
FUC-
The shoulder buttons are connected via a small ribbon cable. It's probably just not seated properly, that's how I fixed my fake pro controller which didn't function properly on arrival.
I bought the fake one and litterally have all the button and it totally work
