- Since the outbreak of COVID-19, there's been a global race to find a vaccine.
But scientists are worried some countries may be rushing the process and compromising safety.
Earlier this week, Russian president Vladimir Putin said his country has approved the world's first coronavirus vaccine.
But Scientists in Russia and abroad are sceptical about its effectiveness.
They say offering it to the public before the important final stage of testing, could pose serious problems.
So, were Russian scientists pressured to cut corners?
And is there significance to the timing of the announcement?

I trust peer reviewed phase 1, 2 and 3 clinical trial papers over any politician. Registering a vaccine without that data being published is unethical and irresponsible of the Russian regulatory body.

As one of the people in this video says, giving the vaccine to teachers and healthcare workers now is unethical because many are government employed and won't be given a choice and more worryingly because they have not completed phase 3 trials to find out if the neutralising antibodies purportedly generated actually protect against Covid-19.
Vaccines are tested more rigourously than other medications because they are given to the whole population and in the worst case could both not work and have serious side effects. Or they could make the infection worse (antibody dependant enhancement).
Think of hydroxychloroquine which did more harm than good, only with a vaccine those side effects would hit everyone.
