My favorite part about this game is that it came out before the movie did, and it just spoiled the entire plot. What a wild time that was. Great game though. I honestly preferred this to Battle for Bikini Bottom growing up.
This game really feels like they just took Battle for Bikini Bottom and reskined it for the movie. And considering that this came out roughly a year after Battle for Bikini Bottom, that's probably what happened

It was the norm back in the day to have a sequel come out 1-2 years later, and this age we have the modern Spiderman games doing something similar, and people hated Miles Morales at launch because of how it was "just Spiderman PS4 again", which reinforces the reason we see sequel games every 5-8 years now

I was actually hoping you’d play this one while rewatching your battle for bikini bottom speedruns. I’ve played rehydrated and cosmic shake and I haven’t been able to get my hands on this game but seeing you play through it is thoroughly entertaining. Also I love the hour long videos. They are super engaging to watch and great for rewatching in the background while I’m doing other things. I hope these are as enjoyable to make as they are to watch. Keep it up man!

SEeing Dumb Jump is so vindicating to kid me. I KNEW you could be able to make that, but I never could. I was super disappointed as a kid and just gave up thinking it was impossible. Seeing that it is indeed possible genuinely made my day better.
33:20 This trick didn't actually work for me. I tried it and the game just made it so I would lose it if I tried to get ahead of him. And keep in mind I use the NTSC-U GameCube version.

Oh man alive... I loved playing this game on my PlayStation 2 as a kid! I would always restart the first driving section and the bathtub section after finishing them just because they're so fun to play through and not too hard. These days, I could probably fully explore the area and see if there are any hidden easter eggs or things like that in between just having nostalgic fun beating up Plankton's mind-controlled minions, driving the Pattywagon (think that's what it was called, don't really remember its name), and using a bathtub (full of water... underwater... somehow...) to go through and over a dangerous canyon.
As a kid, i was disapointed at the shell city part because we only get a sliding stage and no adventuring of retrieveng the crown. Heck even the bar that had minimum screen time got more advenguring than shell city

I love this game, I used to play it when I was 5, I couldn't finish it because back then I didn't know english and had no idea how to save my progress (my first and only language was spanish), the music feels so nostalgic
MAN I LOVE THIS GAME. Drive of the knucklehead-Mcspazatron was the BANE of my existence when I was a kid. How did you NEVER get that jump into the tunnel wrong? I failed like 5 times the same way because i didn't know you needed to keep the nitro in the air to make it. Also, for King Neptune, double jumping makes it so the next "wave" of energy is close to hitting you. Just single jump for those.

Funny how out of all the glitches used in this run, the one I did as a child that skipped the first spongebash platform wasn't one. I was really bad at this game as a kid.
This was one of my favourite games as a child. Not sure if I liked this or Battle for Bikini Bottom more but definitely up there. Even now I think the game is good. I'm sure nostalgia is clouding my judgement to soke degree. Like if you think about it more objectively one could argue that the ring challenges are not a greatly designed game element. That the Car levels don't feel great to play and that you have to replaybthe car and slide levels 3 times each after the innital one which is repetitive. But honestly, I don't care (besides the car levels ig, I don't like them too much). I think the timer challenges on the slides were a lot of fun to do and if I remember correctly I also found the second timer challenges pretty challenging as a child. The ring levels offer a more unique way of playing the level imo and I also like them. One other thing about this game I love is that it's direction feels more mature with darker level themes. Everything after the first slide is a lot darker than you'd expect. The one with the monsters always made me feel like you were actually far away from the rest of the world. The one with Plankton's TVs you have to destroy is filthy and full of junk while keeping thr darker art style. And of course there is the dystopian Bikini Bottom as your final normal level. My personal favourite, despite the fact that the final room gave me PTSD as a child because those stupid rocket shooting bastards kept killing me while I was incapable of "getting good", wasting hours on my life until I asked my dad to do it. In conclusion I think the game is great, it has a unique direction for a Sponglbor game and my only real complaint it the car levels. I wish there were only 3. I also wish the game had more normal levels I suppose. But I think that's a pretty normal thing to want out of any game if you like it (under the assumption the additional levels are actually good of course) and the game isn't super story focused to a point were more levels would make it feel like the pacing is awful. But that's not really applicable to this game I don't think
I'll admit i don't like the movie game as much as bfbb, but i do enjoy the slide levels. Ive never actually beaten this game, but maybe i should some day

I never realized how all the assets for these SpongeBob games are reused over and over. I played the battle of bikini bottom as a kid and wow watching this.. all the same attacks and props and everything basically. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it 😂

The floating block challenges felt like a fever dream when I was like 5, hell i remember somehow managing to clip into one of the boxes.
