As someone who glitch-hunted/ran this game right at launch its wild to see how much is the same and how much its changed. I remember when "kobe-ing" the ball in mermalair was just a pipe dream lol
Right! Like I wasn't super active (I found some mediocre and uncompetitive glitches) and stopped early but just having watched early runs and strategising in the first two months or so, then coming back and seeing this is wild

Crazy how the original Battle for Bikini Bottom speedrun relies heavily on the cruise bubble for cruise boosting while in Rehydrated, you only use it for the final boss.
To me, the cruise boost makes the game look more epic. But hey, this speedrun Eazy did was very impressive.

I just love how in the Battle for Bikini Bottom speedrun, you need the Robo Patrick fight to unlock cruise boosting, which is essential to the run, then in Rehydrated, you skip it entirely. Perish Robo Patrick.
god I hated that boss, he's a pain in the ass without the Cruise Bubble

I liked the Taxi Glitch before the game got updated where you could just warp straight to the final boss from the beginning of the game. This run feels more technical and involved, though.

Still works lmao.. they have not patched ANYTHING.. they made a direct statement saying they wouldnt.. even asked if they should make the next one with less collision.
The fact he explains how to do these exploits just makes it so much better!

I never played Battle for Bikini Bottom as a kid (Although I was a huge SpongeBob fan, we just never got the game), but playing Rehydrated as an adult I love it!

Extremely broken is a heavy understatement. This game in specific is very special for speedrunners
This looks like a really fun game. It has the feeling of these old school platformer collectathons with deepcut references, like the Simpsons games
That’s because it is lol! It’s a remake, even the audio is the exact same from the original.
Would love to see a speedrun of the movie game, was my favorite spongebob game as a kid. The speedrun for this game back on patch 1.01 was stupidly broken, you used to be able to skip all the way to the plankton and sponebob boss, game would give you all the abilities automatically when you did the skip.

There is SO much room for error. There is, I kid you not, and entire 4 bedroom home with a patio and a outdoor bar. That’s how much room there is for error.

I love how different both of these games speedruns are. Always fun when a remaster comes out and new things break lol. Can’t wait to see the new game next week.

You should speedrun "stray" ! It's a pretty short game and you also get a trophy for beating it under a certain amount of time I believe
the way tabbes straight up went on hiatus for about years and casually dropped two video within two weeks of each other is honestly something i admire and am amazed by

The only experience i have speedrunning rehydrated is day 1 when you could press a/x and space bar at the same time and just instant warp to the final boss

Thanks, I always couldn't win the kelp vines sliding part, but with your tips I got all of the kelp forest golden spatulas.
the "duplicate" sock in sand mountain is actually due to the cutscene sock being separate from the gameplay sock, and the devs kinda just... didn't expect you to stand on the spot where it drops down. so you're collecting a sock that was meant to only be a cutscene object, not a collectable sock.
also the glitch with the Downtown wheels in other levels isn't directly making the game thing the objective is complete. it makes the game think just for a moment that you have 11 of the level-specific collectable for whatever level you warp to, and that's more than enough to make the quest giver give you the golden spatula. technically this can be done between any two levels with such collectables, but downtown is the most useful since it has 11, the most out of all the levels.
Always loved this game!
This makes Bethesda games look incredibly polished and thought through.

I remember finding a glitch in this game where if you used patrick and used a watermelon to open the fence, right before the fence closes, you could stand on top if it and get launched in the air through the roof.

you should try to run you have 10 seconds, it's a free game on steam and has a nice and short speedrun (about 3 mins)
God, I remember playing this game when I was super young. I got stuck in the jellyfish fields at some point and moved on to a racing game lol.

Fun fact: when on the switch if you hold z or zr( I think one of those if not the other two buttons on the top) and then you can walk whole automatically sneaking.
I had no idea this game was actually this broken wow! Also no surprise that my least favorite level in the whole game is the most broken (Kelp Forest) I hated that place when playing the original as a kid on the Gamecube

Oh dear god I ran this shit when it came out on Xbox one... Kinda been thinking about going back lately and this video I think convinced me to do it lol
on controller there is a dedicated sneak button the game tells you about it its one of the triggers
Kelp forest being overly decimated with one glitch feels so right - least favourite level for me and I always tried to do all other places first and got all spatulas so that I could spend the least amount time in Kelp forest
Zebra Gamer played this game for 7 hours and 57 minutes in one series of 13 episodes meanwhile there is you completing it in an hour and 5 minutes
