Hey,@bskin22. A couple notes: when the bike was running, you tested your battery voltage with your stator unplugged. That will show a no-charge situation even with everything working 100%. Secondly, your stator output was only up to about 30 volts. To truly test your stator output you need to rev to 5000 rpm after the bike is warmed up; your voltage should reach about 60-80 volts. Looks like your stator could be the issue. You should be careful when showing other people how to test the bike but not really showing all the details completely.
This helped a lot. I took my battery to Advance Auto to have it checked and charged and it was fine. I then tested the voltage with the bike running and the voltage went down ... obvious bad charging system. I disconnected the stator, checked the voltage at the plug with the bike running and got about 30V at idle and around 60V with a twist of the wrist. Only thing left is the regulator which I ordered from Ebay for $20. This video was the key to troubleshoot this. Much ThX!!
I hve a 04 gsxr 600..my, charging problem.. @ idle my stator put out 20v and @ 5krpm 60-65 v ac when, i connect stator volts drop to 11v ac!!! Stator, is new and new r/r need help!!!!
Ok man you really helped me locate the stator wire, the voltage fluctuates on both sides, I also unplugged my rectifier these are the numbers I got from the male part of the rectifier, if they sound wrong pleSe let me know I already bought a battery I didn't need lol dam I wish I knew wht I was doing. Anyway here are the numbers for the rectifier 475,455,530,520,507,529, so do u think it's my rectifier? The stator fluctuated wonderful pretty much I each side. If u could hit me back ASAP that would be great, I wanna ride this weekend it's the 4th on Friday thanks again
It is actually an Fi light. it means Fault Indicator. Its like the "check engine" light on a car.The Fi (F1) light should only come on for a few seconds when you start the bike. If the light stays on, you've got a problem.
Hey Bskin, Great video, but you only did "half a test" on both the battery and stator...why? You never did a "load test" on the battery and did not check the stator; only the stator connect from the wiring harness to the stator plug. There was no resistance test on the stator itself. Without doing that you can't determine that the stator is bad.
I dont think ive EVER replied to a youtube video.... this just saved me so much frustration and time, other people saying they had the Stator, and stator WIRE changed but no one said where it went.
Hey man how much did that rectifier end up costing you? im having the same problem as we speak, my battery died and im charging it right now before i test to see what the problem is. the battery is new so thats not the problem.
Hey brownpastry, there's a video on that's called something like "putting bike into dealer mode" and he explains how to check what the Fi indicator means. Great video btw! RR went bad and I think stator did too. Now just time to check
Ive got a 2008 k8.Got to work on hottest day of the year in London. Then battery was flat. Think rectifier has overheated. This video had helped a lot. Thanks buddy.
Best video I've seen on how to check stator! Helped me a lot and saved me money I was about to pay $85 to get mines checked thanks to this video I was able to do it myself..... Thanks for sharring
yeah for me it was my rectifier..for my year and model the charging system that comprises of the battery rectifier and stator is known to go out commonly. Look up a video on how to check your chraging system to determine weather its any one of those problems! i got a ricks rectifier and its lasted me a whole year up until summer came again -.-.. the rectifier is good problem is gsxr tend to reach high temperatures before the fan turns on so they end up overheating a bit. I live in florida everytime i stop at a light the bitch over heats. Also one thing dont rush to change the battery until you are sure..ive killed two batteries doing so.
Put the multi-meter on Ac and put the positive and negative sticks into the stator. Crack the bike and you should get 65V or higher..anything less your stator is bad if its more, your rectifier is bad...
bskin22 i plan on replacing both so i didn’t even buy a meter i was pissed i was stuck on the road last week so I’m changing everything to ricks stator and regulator

Super helpfull I went to my local dealer and they told me I couldn't test the stator and I was like ohh really!! Scumbags
I did a huge fart the other day...ended up with a rectumfire

How long did that 20$ rectifier last haha
Do anyone knows what a F1 light means on 06 Gsxr 600 .???
Dude I've been looking all over TH-cam and your the only video that explains it. Thanks man
Piz halp me farm mitar cahc lit way
the stator was unpluged when he check the battery...lol dont listen to this guy
exactly what I was thinking

Mine wont even start I got a brand new battery still no start

Brilliant video thanks. Got the same bike and the same problem. Youll have saved me loads on rip off mechanics. Thanks a lot for your vid.

bad connection?... check the connectors for corrosion. also check any spliced wires that lead to ur spedo.

checked the battery its good, did the stator test and on the lower left had nothing, on the lower right 20. something is my stator bad
My dash works when it wants to it goes on and off at times the digital speedometer doesn't come on at all what could the problem be?

Ive got an Fi light which stays, the bike wont start, and i recently replaced my battery, anyone know what the problem could be?

your volts are gonna drop a little bit its because of cranking the bike over
How do you check if the bike wont start?
great vid!! really well explained, i've been struggling to diagnose my k6 600, hopefully this will sort it tomorrow! many thanks :)
Thanks for the video. Made it easy to diagnose the issue
Excellent video! Was wondering how to go about this, you explained it all! Thanks again man, keep it up!
awesome vid man! very helpful for testing the stator.
damn you mad it look really easy.. thank you so much
My bike is an 2007 gsxr 600 and it won't start up it just clicks near the battery. Lights turn on, but dim! Any clue?
My gsxr is doing that right now, did you find out the problem?

Good video man. All others were complex.
thank you very much. it was a big help.
Great video! Straight and to the point!
Great vid on how to check this
Great video man make some more
Thank you very much helped me
Thank you
How you test the stator if u pulled the plug??
Put the multi-meter on Ac and put the positive and negative sticks into the stator. Crack the bike and you should get 65V or higher..anything less your stator is bad if its more, your rectifier is bad...

sorry I was distracted... you cant test the stator if the plugs are removed...they provide the sparks so you can measure the...
