20 years ago today. Truly sad, completely shocking. So much more was on the way from him. RIP Darryl Kile. My thoughts and prayers are with Flynn, Kannon, Sierra, and Ryker today and every day.😢🙏🏻#57Forever #ATrueCardinal #StLouisStrong
Sad day in MLB. Darryl Kile was found dead in his hotel room at "The Westin". He died of blood clots in his chest. Credit Joe Girardi for addressing the Wrigley crowd in a very tough spot. Although he didn't announce what caused the game to be postponed. Will never forget that day. RIP Darryl Kile
The Astros seriously missed out on a dynasty. They had ON THE SAME ROSTER AT ONE TIME Ken Caminiti, Jeff Bagwell, Luis Gonzalez, Kenny Lofton, Craig Biggio, Steve Finley, Darryl Kyle and Curt Schilling. They sat on a gold mine and they got rid of all but 2. RIP Darryl Kyle
They postponed the STL-CHI game in 06/22/2002 because of the Darryl Kile's death & my prayers are still with him & his entire loved ones, enjoy the [2018] W.S. match-up of BOS-LAD or the [1998] W.S. rematch of NYY-SD regional games from FOX areas.
Cardinals fan here. As long as we hate the reds I’m okay with you and even all these years later his death went across being a fan of any team. I’m 32 now and I worry about my heart and he had his fail him just a year older than me.
Thanks for this video of the coverage. I saw highlights/archives of Darryl Kile, and he was a damn good pitcher. My thoughts and condolences to his family and friends still to this day. Would you happen to have any more aftermath coverage of this, or at least local/national coverage of this? I felt like this was a turning point for baseball and sports in general. 😉

He was originally a Cub - they drafted him in the 5th round in the 1986 draft. He was with the Cubs from 1989-92, then taken by the Rockies in the '92-'93 expansion draft . He was traded to the Yankees before the '96 season, then left as a free agent and signed with the Cubs before the 2000 season and was with them until 2002. HIs final season was 2003 when he played 16 games for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Coronary artery disease its hard to believe he didn’t feel the symptoms due to him being an athlete
Amazing footage. Thank you for uploading. The news coverage afterwards is incredible
Girardi speech starts at 40:00
You are the realest
Pure class
As a diehard Cards fan , i will always be grateful for that minute or so of compassion and class shown by girardi
Joe Girardi truly had respect for his rivals, unlike most of the fans at the game that day who started booing.
What a tragic week for the cardinals Jack Buck and Daryl Kile
Post Date: June 22nd 2022 23:49.
20 year anniversary already, Cardinals beat Brewers 5-427th the last out recorded at 10:19 pm CT in Milwaukee.

Nobody was beating the yankees those years
If they knew Gonzalez n Finley we’re gonna get on roids they never would’ve traded them
Also could've drafted Jeter in 92, and their head scout at the time, Hal Newhouser begged them to take him, but they went with Phil Nevin instead....
RIP Darryl Kile and Don Baylor

Very strong people who tried to hold back tears i.e. Joe Buck and Joe Girardi as a St. Louisan it makes harder to watch
Imagine if this happened in 2023.
😑 definitely sad.

I didn't know that Joe Girardi was a Cub

I think the crew in LA knew that he was dead but were told not to say anything til Joe Giradi and Joe Buck made their announcements.
The studio crew or the broadcast crew at Dodger Stadium?
@@drewzuhosky6826 Broadcast crew. But the studio would have known as well.
When is the make-up date
You _do_ realize this was from 20 years ago, right?
should have played
Easy to say that now. I still back the decision to postpone the game. No way the Cardinal players would have been able to do their jobs.
That is _INSENSITIVE AND UNCALLED FOR._ It's emotionally impossible for a team to focus on a game when a teammate dies. Are you _THAT_ clueless?
