@@JPositive116 btw how do you play through slifer? just curious for science. Apart from the obvious ways of drawing non-engines like imperm/book/whatever, or hard drawing konkon + a way to tribute. Cuz all main deck monsters die to slifer, nobody has >2000 atk. I guess you can set a monster and then tribute for mudan? Mudan dies but still searches konkon, and if you have glamour or something you can tribute the slifer. But that's still 2.5 cards combo to out slifer. Less realistic than just drawing imperm at that point.
Also, if you summon Nibiru, don't put the token in the center main monster zone. If they can extend into jasmine, they will use the token as a tribute.
Unironically can you do this for every top deck? One of my friends is a plant player so I knew a decent amount about the matchup but I actually learned a lot about the intricacies of the deck from this video
Most of meta decks are either solved or the counter is generally known, so what matter is could you actually pull it in the game. Meanwhile rikka deck at that tournament is either unexpected so people doesnt really have the counter, and as josh said, not all player knows the details of the deck
C'mon Josh, Aromaseraphy Jasmine should not be banned. It has nothing to do with the playability of the deck, or how good it is for the format. The reason it shouldn't be banned is because it would be so much funnier to have a lvl 1 0/600 vanilla to be the first banned card that people see when the look up the yugioh banlist.
i'd actually give up on Sunavalon just for this to happen. Murder my deck if you need to, but at least do it in the funniest and most memey way possible
Fun fact: If you see the Aromage Jasmine (the level 2, not the link monster) on the field, you are almost certainly facing someone who added the Cactus Bouncer package in the deck (as that is the only reason a Rikka Sunavalon player will use that card), which locks BOTH player out of special summoning if the controling player has at least 1 other plant monster. So in a sense you using Imperm on the card will stop them dropping the Cactus. However funny enough, that is still not the correct play because - Regulus can just negate the imperm and still get Cactus on the board, and regulus will still have negate on your turn - You can simply just imperm the cactus during YOUR turn, forcing out regulus negate to go into your boardbreaker (e.g. evenly, both TTT) - If they have strenna on the field, you can be safe from them tagging out for Teardrop/Hyperiton because cactus also lock them out of SS. Though you obviously need a way to play through konkon and SS lock
The new main deck Aroma, Rosalina can SS a Jasmine from deck. So you will be able to finish your board and then use your new, extra normal summon Bouncer lol
Josh if you ever read this, today there was a ruling reversal about CL1 TTT (take) vs CL2 IP into SP. The current controller (ttt user) gets the on summon trigger effect and not the summoning player. Couple of Aces VS Remove Brainwashing was also reversed to follow this change. This can have a great impact on the current metagame depending on how this will be ruled on each event, due to SP potential meta relevance

something I haven't been seeing is people using rescue hedgehog which I think is pretty crazy because you can special summon a lv.3 or lower effect monster plus sunseed from your deck but then again wasn't it also a promo
It's really bad, there's nothing good that you can summon, you should re-read rescue hedgehog. The 2 monsters you summon need to be same type, level, and attribute. Rikka Petal is water so you can't get her. If you want to summon loci, you need to also play a lv 1 earth plant effect monster. And there's literally no lv 1 earth plant effect monster that isn't a brick when you open them in hand (you'd need to play rose lover or something stupid like that). So playing rescue hedgehog doesn't do anything. It's not really an extender, cuz you need to use your normal summon for it. It is also a sub-optimal starter, worse than directly normal summon loci. This deck is not lacking in consistency to be desperately looking for sub optimal starters to play. What it wants is more extenders to play through handtraps, and hedgehog doesn't offer that (+ requires you to play a brick to resolve it). If only rescue hedgehog can grab both petal + loci tho, that'd increase the ceiling for the combo and don't require you to play any brick, then rescue hedgehog might fit right in. But as it is, it's just extremely awkward and unnecessary.
To be fair, there are enough starter to get to Sunseed loci that you don't really get the additional benefit of getting a level 1 earth effect plant monster (I think most target for that sucks anyway) The usual 3x Unexpected Dai (doesn't use your SS) 1-3x Lonefire Blossom (uses NS, but is part of the Rikka combo and good bridge) 3x Sunseed Loci 3x Small world (Technically not 1 card combo, but is easy to bridge into seed with any monster in hand) The less popular but still useful ones 3x Painful Decision (Get a plant to GY, allow you to get Lily Borea on field early but doesn't really allow you to get Regulus before Sowing) 1x One-for-One (Doesn't use SS, but require a monster discard, can also get you petal when interrupted) 3x Sowing (Any level 4 or lower plant get summon dryas then you can use Sowing, leaving a less than perfect end board) 3x Draconnect (Summon any level 2 or lower normal monster from deck on NS) So you can easily fit 12-15 card starter into the deck if you want. Plant player deck space is tight so which is why they don't need to load out the whole deck for the all the option. A more fragile way of reaching the loci isn't really all that useful
Btw, while it wasn't the case at the Dortmund's finals, leaving your monsters in defense is not always the answer. It's useless if you have sowing in gy or the therion coliseum on the field, in fact: sowing, summon the seed, crash into something, summon healer, go dancepione (or jasmine if you have something to summon) is a legitimate play if you're really bricked. It's not actually good since it's very likely your opponent already has a way to negate or destroy the dryass (could be useful as to bait a negate I guess). If you have sowing and the coliseum in hand: activate coliseum (to bait the ash), grab lily (or regulus), sowing the seed, crash and protect with coliseum, foolish regulus (or lily) and now you have two bodies on the field, and easy access to an omni negate, if you don't get disrupted of course, this is a last ditch effort if you're in a really bad position and only works if your opponent isn't much better. Honestly, I find unsettling Joshua's hatred for the deck, keeps repeating it's good, but also says it dies very easily to handtraps, only sees it brick, and keeps saying the only reason for it's success is due to luck and people not knowing the deck, like, if all of that's true, then isn't that the definition of a bad deck? there's a lot of decks that can make crazy, "unbeatable" boards if everything goes right, and most of them don't see ANY competitive game, why is a deck that REQUIRES mastery over it just to be able to catch up with the meta a good deck then? and if it's so mediocre, why the fervent desire to kill it? the disdain is so palpable, I could bet, this video would have never been made had vs won the event, in fact, had any other deck won the event, a video on said deck wouldn't exist.
Almost every decks use link monsters though nowadays, aside from the ones with hard type locks like Branded or something. And even then, they sometimes play 1-2 link monsters for special cases. If you summon in defense, dryas can crash to your monster, which makes them take battle damage and triggers dryas to special summon a free link body. If you summon in attack, the dryas will die by battle if it crashes to your monster (unless there's sunvine sowing in GY I guess). If there's no sowing in GY, this is important in a simplified game state. They can't play with just dryas, but if you let them get a 2nd body, they can link climb and play.

Sunseed Dryas has the following effect Once per turn (Soft): When you take damage (battle or effect), you can heal the same amount and special summon a sunvine link-1 monster (e.g. healer, thrasher) from your extra deck. So a plant player can summon Dryas, attack your defense position monster, take the damage and get a +1 to continue extending their play in MP2. Once per turn (Soft): When you take damage (battle or effect), you can heal the same amount and special summon a sunvine link-1 monster (e.g. healer, thrasher) from your extra deck. So a plant player can summon Dryas, attack your defense position monster, take the damage and get a +1 to continue extending their play in MP2. In previous YCS that was what allowed the Sunavalon Rikka player to win by time as they summoned thrasher and stopped further damage
@@ultradolp1335 ahaha I see how many will miss that
@@ziggystardust1973Leaving them in atk isn't always the best answer tho, you're vulnerable to ls, and if you have coliseum or sowing in gy, you can crash into it and survive anyways.
Well now you need to play a set against Jess
repeat after me, WE 👏 HOLD 👏 HAND-TRAPS 👏 FOR 👏 DRYAS 👏
I DONT WANT TO READ THE PLAAAANT CARDS
Rikka Sunavalon is just Dragon Link, except replace the dragons, some of which with guns, with pretty sparkly flower princesses and the likes. We should just start calling it P-Link. Change my mind.
Yeah, trade guns for parasol's.
well there is combine harvester in our fields :D (Regulus) :D
you can limit Dryas or Healer and make the deck a litlle bit worse without having to ban Jasmine
same effect, basically kills the deck tbh. And nukes pure Sunavalon to orbit as a side effect.
Limit Jasmine is already more than enough, if people were to learn what the cards do finally
we need doctor crowler
Still don't know why you should summon in attack
the thing about plants decks nowadays seems comboing from aromaseraphy jasmine, if she gets banned they dont have anything really
I am late, but this act will kill Aroma part of the deck for sure :D
Petal eff
Summon from grave
Eff to search Mudan
Mudan eff tribute petal
Mudan eff search konkon

Make strenna
Eff to add back any plant
Tribute strenna somehow
I wish I had Golden Kappa here right now
Maybe because it's a good deck
Sheesh, NA doesn't respect ANYTHING and they still managed to stop Rikka from stealing tourneys(including WORLDS). EU might have the MD World Champions, but the rest of the continent needs to step up their game, especially on paper.
Step up their game when NA was hard carried by Canada for 20 years while the EU had World's wins since 2005?
Different regions just like different decks. Even during TOSS, NA (particularly the US part) had Thunder combo overrepresented while EU/LATAM preferred the control oriented Salad/Striker (even geist) until Orcust threw the balance of the window.
NA is crowded with full gas decks and cancer decks. So only the leeches are squeezing in with Rikka.
Jasmine sould not get banned. Its only good in plants. Rikkas dont even top that offen.
The community as a whole has a "how dare you play me with this inferior deck" mentality.... so when it wins, even if barely, we gotta cry for bans.....
How ppl say fenrir is fine but cry about Jasmine is CRAZY

Someone link the quiz
But wait why zues in attack again????
or just be me and instead of sending Tragedy off Brafu to make Lubelion we just send Necroworld Banshee instead ._.
What does loci do again
It can only be harvested from the sacred tree once every thousand years, and will become the guardian spirit of its land after a thousand more
It's a SOFT once every thousand years
wait why do you summon zeus in attack?
Can you still do the test?
I don't understand the plant hate lol
