8:05 I was thinking all day about TCG exclusives I strongly believe that they are all beautifully designed but tend to fail not due to a lack of care but because they have to compete with the "Fuck it we ball" type of shit they make in the OCG (Tistina doesn't exist). I'd love to see someone hold a "Exclusively TCG exclusive" tournament to see how they do in a different environment
🐸 Maybe as A Feedback to make the Data Compilation easier. You could use a Google Forms Document. It allows for anonymous participants and can make some graphs for different questions. I feel like Protos unban was completely fine for a meta that mainly has decks running one card combos and a ton of board breakers and hand traps, especially when the combo to get to it is really easy to beat with any standard hand trap 🐸
2024 is a weird one for me. I look back on the year as probably one of the worst, simply because of the 1 card combo problem and the existence of a deck like Tenpai. On the other hand, I topped and won more events in 2024 than every other year I've played the game combined. I felt most rewarded from good testing, deck theory, and just enjoying events overall with great people. Thanks for all of the great content this year. The problem with this argument is that the fiendsmith line at least let's you know what it's gonna make and how it gets there is the same every time. Little Timmy shitting out links and oops, all appolousa and baronne out of nowhere because he opened fenrir and happen to not normal summon yet so fuck it normal ash and make baronne. And Jim Bob here actually does an entirely different combo just to end up on appo on top of 3 flood gates staring into your soul. And the best part? Most if not all these fucks can do it in under 5 summons. Fiendsmith? 5 MINIMUM to make the caesar - so nib is a legit answer. And you can see the fiendsmith line. Every. Time. And not learn how every top meta deck makes appo/baronne/savage but different
@@leekyonionthat fair argument against barone but savage is telegraphed specially if you want to make him in 4 summons also i understand why josh love the pure fiendsmith deck but overral is not great, a small one card combo engine build in negation without restrictions with good recursion on top of that is not really good desing
So happy to see S:P shouted out for positive card design. When S:P released in the TCG I had some reluctance towards its power level. However, I think players have a tendency to feel a card is overpowered when their opponent can afford it and they cannot. S:P is so interactive in so many ways and if anything negative can be said about it it would be, I:P Masquerena should be banned 🐸
Just something interesting, Lacrima may be the fastest ban in YuGiOh history, but Evighiski Gustkraken and Mind Auger are the fastest banlist hits. They were both limited to 1 before they ever released in the tcg, I think just weeks before their release.

Pot of prosperity banned is one of the better decisions imo, unless you're like Mathmech you can afford losing 3-6 extra deck cards to add a card of your choice basically 🐸
Tbf, Lightsworn is not that disapointing, it's just like they do not have good extra steps. Because you can absolutely play it the cool way (cf Jesse Kotton's video on Lightsworn Fiendsmith) but they need some extra steps to create more interruptions or card advantage with cards like Curious or Chaos Ruler. Because realistically resolving athenian is just making a rank 4 when it could be a Curious or Chaos Ruler into zombie vampire. It feels underwhelming because it lacks something we can't get back or it needs a secondary engine like fiendsmith with which you have a smooth connection between the 2 engines
🐸 2024 being so dominated by fire was interesting for a short time but was way overdone. Needed to have a legit water threat to offset it and that would have made the idea much more fun. White Forrest was by far the most fun. Can’t wait for 2025. 🐸
I think the Atlantean/mermail support was really solid for what the deck was doing already. It didn't really change how the deck played, or what it could do, but just streamlined it really well while keeping some of it's weaknesses still apparent. One of the best designed legacy support in my opinion. 🐸
Loved your content this year, your one of the main reasons I am back into YGO. Thank you for the hard work and good new Year! 🐸 More information in the video description.
Great video, I have not been consistently playing through this year but it was nice to watch this award, reminding me of all the Yu-Gi-Oh related things I did this year 🐸
I only recently got back into YGO, after stopping way back in the day. Competitive play online has been really exhausting with how oppressive some of the meta decks are, but here's hoping 2025 keeps moving in the right direction with some of the recent banlist changes for some of the top decks 🐸🐸
Thank you for your work and dedication towards the Yugi comunity! Good to see you grow as a creator with all the variety of things you startet last year. Looking forward towards 2025! 🐸
Just got back into YU-GI-OH! this year through Maste Duel and have been enjoying it alot. Your Content has really helped finding my way back and to begin improving. Hoping to get back into Paper play this Year and to start going to some inperson events. Thanks alot for reigniting my love for the Game.🐸
Thanks for all of the videos in 2024. They've really helped me improve my game and have made me more confident in going to events. I topped my first regional this year so hopefully 2025 can bring bigger and better things 🐸
You were my top watched content creator of the year, and I can't wait to see where you go next year! Thank you for making all of the educational/update content that you do, it makes it so much easier to stay current with the game while working a full-time job. Good luck in the new year! 🐸
I just started playing again from april this year after taking a break when the master rule 4 was introduced, watching your videos and stream really helped me getting better at the game, thank you Josh, i hope you can keep this up 🐸
I honestly thought this was an insanely good year for yugioh, competitive play was lovely to watch and i think i had the most fun this year while playing yugioh. Happy New Year Josh and viewers! 🐸
Long time viewer of your channel despite having stepped away from Standard for a couple years now, thank you for another year's worth of content and here's to the next one! 🐸
🐸 this year really felt like the one where you took off as a content creator. Super stoked for how sick the content has been and will continue to be, happy new year!
Happy New Year Josh! Definitely watch your videos and streams resparked my interest and playing paper yu-gi-oh with none other than our trusted Paleos. Keep up the good content! 🐸
I actually really liked this servey because I wasn’t playing at the beginning of the year and its nice knowing what people thaught of the early ban lists🐸
Great video as always 🐸 As a new player, could I perhaps give an idea for a video? Video regarding when to use handtraps against meta decks. Being new I often struggle figuring out a deck's chokepoint, so having a guide of when to use Ash vs yubel, when to use infinite impermanence vs tenpai, etc. would be great.
It was one hell of a year, didn't get to tune into as many streams as I'd have liked but whenever I did, it was an absolute blast, here's to another great year! 🐸
I got into Yu-Gi-Oh towards the end of the year and you were a big part of that, I look forward to keeping up with both the game and your content in 2025 🐸🐸🐸
33:16 fair to mention it, even with the support, what actually makes the deck sky rocket from playable to competitive is just the existence of ulcanix for FK, I played both versions before rota and I felt like dropping it in the tcg cuz I was always stuck in the combos, when ulcanix came out it felt pretty late, even if the card makes so much of a difference even if you only have one copy
For the tcg I think that is worth mentioning the slowness to bringing back kirin, it was unbanned like 6 months(or something like that) after the legacy support in phantom knightmare🐸
Didn't get to participate in the survey, but this was great fun to watch! I started playing competitively this year, so it's been interesting watching the meta evolve and seeing how others view the current state of the game! Hope to see another one of these for 2025! 🐸
This was such an interesting idea. Of course the surveys reflected a lot the fact that this is from your community but it's still a very nice study case, I'd love to see it next year too 🐸🐸🐸

The mere existence of Beatrice meant that you could functionally activate any trap in deck over the course of two turns alone, one if there was another way to get one in grave
Yeah. And it was bad 🤷♂️
or you could use arias and a normal trap in hand to activate it turn 0
It wasnt, resolved snake board was already an ftk so nobody bothered.

White forest azamina boutta go hard in 2025
He doesn’t know chat 💀
Ryzeal and Malice have another opinion on that
Sadly they killed it by hitting OSS, there are some versions that don't play the snake eyes engine but yeah, the usual white forest treatment, Rogue 🥲
@@davisgo9795 bro what
The deck is fine on its own, it doesn't need Snakes
i like the duality of people voting, you can clearly see the tier of play your subscribers prefer, its amazing work 🐸
in the worst banlist decision, i was thinking of zoodiac barriage because realistically, that unban does like nothing 😭🐸
Killing snake eyes right after reprinting everything while it already naturally lost its place in the top meta is probably the worst one

You were my top watched content creator of the year, and I can't wait to see where you go next year! Thank you for making all of the educational/update content that you do, it makes it so much easier to stay current with the game while working a full-time job. Good luck in the new year! 🐸
I just started playing again from april this year after taking a break when the master rule 4 was introduced, watching your videos and stream really helped me getting better at the game, thank you Josh, i hope you can keep this up 🐸
a lot of the bad/good card designs didn't get mentionned much just because the decks were not played much, but it was a cool video idea nonetheless! 🐸
Just recently discovered your videos, but i love your card game discussions and thoughts. Happy new year! 🐸
I honestly thought this was an insanely good year for yugioh, competitive play was lovely to watch and i think i had the most fun this year while playing yugioh.
Happy New Year Josh and viewers! 🐸
I just got back into yugioh and i've been having a blast. Looking forward to a new year 🐸
Long time viewer of your channel despite having stepped away from Standard for a couple years now, thank you for another year's worth of content and here's to the next one! 🐸
🐸 this year really felt like the one where you took off as a content creator. Super stoked for how sick the content has been and will continue to be, happy new year!
The card grading looks cool 🐸 What a rollercoaster yugioh has been, but I feel like things are heading in the right direction. 2025 should be fun
Thank you for a whole year of great entertainment and teaching me Yugioh, hope 2025 will be just as good! 🐸
Loved your content this year man, appreciate how you always try to vary from the meta 🐸
Happy New Year Josh! Definitely watch your videos and streams resparked my interest and playing paper yu-gi-oh with none other than our trusted Paleos. Keep up the good content! 🐸
Great video and Happy newyear! Heres to another year of great content in '25! 🐸🐸🐸
This was a great "year-in-review" for Yugioh, I hope you do it again next year too 🐸
I appreciate the vid being split in two categories for us MD gamers! happy new year 🐸
I appreciate the unique content that you create as well as the interesting insight you provide into a pro Yugioh players mind. Happy New Years! 🐸
Super interesting to see how opinions differ between the MD and TCG formats🐸
Incredible video Josh! Thank you for all of your content in 2024 and i look forward to 2025 🐸
Had a fun time answering these questions , thanks for the opportunity, Josh! 🐸
Looking forward to this year, i'm gonna give it my all this year to enjoy playing no matter where the format goes! 🐸🐸🐸
Great video idea! I hope you'll keep doing this going on. Happy new year Josh! 🐸
I was so hyped for the Lightsworn support, too. Hopefully next time it'll be playable and still feel like old lightsworn 🐸
Getting into yugioh this year was a blast as a casual. so many good staple reprints with rarity collections and budget decks worth playing. 🐸
Well, for me the best thing in 2024 was the attention UTWs got. Hopefully we get an european 3v3 UTW this year🐸
Happy new year Mr. Fiendschmidt himself! I hope this year is filled with many a toad and 3+ spells in grave for your fountain and engages. 🐸
Happy New Year Josh, looking forward to your amazing contents this year! 🐸
Praying that moon is hit next year so pure fiendsmith can still run about🐸
I actually really liked this servey because I wasn’t playing at the beginning of the year and its nice knowing what people thaught of the early ban lists🐸
Love how different the tcg/MD metas are for these stats, it's cool having psudeo formats 🐸
Great video as always 🐸
As a new player, could I perhaps give an idea for a video? Video regarding when to use handtraps against meta decks. Being new I often struggle figuring out a deck's chokepoint, so having a guide of when to use Ash vs yubel, when to use infinite impermanence vs tenpai, etc. would be great.
Great video! My favorite part of 2024 was the Schmidtlings coming together to revamp paleo for the modern era. Goated community right here 🐸
It was one hell of a year, didn't get to tune into as many streams as I'd have liked but whenever I did, it was an absolute blast, here's to another great year! 🐸
🐸
Happy New Year, Josh.
Wish you good luck for Pulls and Starthands in 2025.
Nice concept for a video, I like the idea of an award for the best/worst decisions in regards to Yu-gi-oh this year. 🐸
Happy New Year! Thank you for the wonderful videos you have produced this year.🐸
Excellent video as always and look forward to this hopefully being a yearly thing moving forward 🐸
started playing again this year and this serves as a nice recap (kind of) cool vid!
This needs to be a yearly tradition 🐸
This was such an interesting idea. Of course the surveys reflected a lot the fact that this is from your community but it's still a very nice study case, I'd love to see it next year too
