this is so much better to watch than modern racing. you can really sense the importance of driver skill and bravery, because you can see both car and driver moving around with every bump and imput.

Can Am was always my favourite form of racing and I watched this Chinook at Mosport running against the Lolas and McLarens of that era. I will never forget seeing Denny Hulme, on the first lap, bursting out of corner 4, down into the chute, around Moss corner and up the Andretti straight at such an incredible speed that left the crowd in stunned silence. He was 2 sec. ahead of Bruce within the first 1/2 lap. Denny built up a huge lead but, on the penultimate lap, he ran up the embankment at Moss corner and demolished the front half of the car: suspension broken, a tire flat and bodywork in shards. The crowd was groaning in disappointment, thinking his race was run, but without missing a beat, Denny backed out onto the track and headed up the straight, wheels wobbling, bodywork flapping and tires smoking. I wondered why he'd bother trying to get back to the pits in a destroyed car. A couple of minutes later, he appeared out of corner 4, wheels skittering around, the car shaking and shuddering and tires smoking. He hauled it around Moss corner and up the straight at over 100Mph. He'd built up such a lead that he finished and won in a wreck. When asked what it was like driving the car in that condition, he said, "Made the steering a bit heavy".

Kudos to Jay Esterer. I suspect he gave the Chinook (pronounced shin-ook as in book) a better outing than it ever had during its era.

Someone should write a book about the Fejer brothers, it would be an interesting read! The Indianapolis story would be a fun chapter.

32:11 If you take out the word "yeah" he doesn't actually say all that much!

If I counted correctly, he said 'yeah' 16 times in less than 1 minute of conversation.

Each driver is a member of a house (bit like boarding school) and they win points toward a house competition. The letters represent the house.

Great to see the early Can Ams running in GB! What do the abbreviations - AUB, MET, TOR represent?

Aubigny, Torbolton, Methuen and Darnley. These are the names of "houses" for which the entries participate. Sort of like teams in a school, à la Gryffindor etc in Harry Potter.
