Matt proves yet again, that the heart and soul of the artist is pure, deep, and above all else meaningful. For this dude to find himself, through everything he has been through, and then to turn it around and send it out to the listener, and to help that listener deal with their own emotions, problems, etc...Well friends, that is what it's all about. This is why I love my Metal, Doom, whatever one wants to call it. It changes you, and for the better. Matt, thank you for being just one thing..YOU!!!

Matt Pike is an absolute behemoth in the metal community. The honest and genuine power that drives the doom/stoner/metal genre forward. I'm so thankful people like him are present and continuing to create music and move forward.

Saw Sleep play with Thou last night in New Orleans....AMAZING SHOW...Played SOME NEW SONGS The Clarity, Dragonaut, Holy Mountain, Dopesmoker, ended the show with an amazing From Beyond>Nains Baptism>Al Cisneros solo bass drone that went on until the techs were packing up the drums and guitar + more that I can't remember cause I was baked out of my mind...GO SEE SLEEP LIVE...AND GET READY FOR VOL. 4!!!!

I dig this group a lot, I just recently found out about them, they are very heavy on guitars and that's what I like, Matt Pike is a great guitar player period ;)

I really appreciate Matt’s comments in this video, and totally identify with what he says here about spending such a big chunk of his life “blacked out”. After years :of alcohol, cocaine and heroin addiction, I finally was able to get it under control at 31 years old. I’m 42 now, about to turn 43 in August, and the last 11 years of my life have been the most productive, happy years of my life. I’ve literally become a new person and afforded myself the opportunity to pursue what I really want in life, which has done wonders for my depression. Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way “cured”, it is definitely an ongoing process and I am constantly learning new lesson
9 and life itself. To be given a 2nd chance at life and remain grateful for it…that is a true blessing!
