@@NOAH-fi3pw Well, the manga does its own thing so there’s no guarantee that the name is canon.
As far as I know, in monarchy, the title follows the bloodline. So, if the king was the one with the bloodline (ie, his parents where the monarchs before him) the queen would not inherit the throne, since she is marrying into the bloodline, and therefore, not actually the bloodline (barring certain areas of Alabama... Or how some royal families work, but beside the point). The crown would go to the children of the king, and any uncles or cousins who are of the bloodline before the queen. And Perv Asshat, if he married Rose would technically become a prince consort, and not the king, with the power still laying with Rose.

Cid is not completely a normal dude. He is the son of a baron and in the aristocracy that title is one of the minor ranks, so an engagement or marriage to a princess would be almost impossible due to the difference in social classes since it would not be very different from being a commoner.
Natsume Kafka's books may have influenced Rose.

@@williamg5495 He is the eldest son of the Kagenou Barony. In the novel, he mentions that Claire is likely to inherit the family name, since it’s common for women to inherit the family in this world thanks to mana making things equal in terms of physical prowess.

If anything, they’re the kingdom of spellblades, as Cid mentions both in the game and in the light novel that people across the world gather around the Midgar Spellblade Academy since it’s the most prestigious one on the continent. By all means, combat prowess is important in the national policies of The Kingdom of Midgar.

@@williamg5495 The anime made some changes during the adaptation by adding original scenes or making references.
Rose with short hair was not supposed to be seen until season 3 which would be the time of her starting point as queen.
@@LostTurtle-sds7_4kna Well, we can’t really know if they’re original or if Aizawa-sensei himself wanted these changes to happen. In the Light Novel, Elizabeth’s heart is described as organic, but in the Anime, it seems like an artifact which is stronger than the Eye of Avarice and is possibly what caused the Eclipse to begin with.

You're right, we can't know for sure. I heard that the author was giving suggestions to the anime staff and that he is involved in the development of the 7S chronicles in the game but that's all.

Cid isn’t using Rose. Cid considers her an equal, just like the Seven Shades. That is why he held her hands intently this episode, despite avoiding physical contact with her in the beginning of season 1, suspecting her to be a religious fanatic. Now, he’s so close to her, he intentionally grabs her hands and shares his personal beliefs with her that not even the 7 shades know. The only times he shared a personal belief with someone was during boss fights-when he knows they won’t survive to understand him-and on some rare occasions, with normal characters who are too distracted and underestimate his significance too much to connect the dots-like with Alexia during the hot-spring episode where he mentioned Alpha. He said it so naturally that there would be no way Alexia would understand what he was saying ’cause she was also distracted by her thoughts and prideful position in the power dynamics of their encounter-’cause, you know, she’s the princess of Midgar. I think you guys missed it as well. Any other time, him mentioning that name to her would be a dead giveaway that he’s not mediocre. Iris told her about Alpha before the episode so she would know who Alpha is when Cid casually mentioned her name. This just goes to show how good Cid is at keeping the façade, and how significant it is that he shared his personal beliefs with Rose when she was more or less conscious of him, in a way(even though she thought his dream was getting with her, lol). He wasn’t this direct with any non-hostile or non-antagonistic character before.
I think you guys are pretty smart when you come around and actually manage to pay attention, and therein, absorb the context properly, but the same comedic distraction you noticed the anime using during serious scenes, keeps distracting you into not seeing what matters. You need to pay less attention to the Static, guys. Accept Moonlight.
