In the novel, Beta jumped in after him, saying something along the lines of "I'm not getting left behind this time". Because of being "possessed" and the circumstances around that, most of them have some pretty severe abandonment issues, as we saw with Alpha in the John Smith arc. Cid also intentionally jumped in, not because he knew what would happen, but because doing so would make a cool exit. No other thoughts. Classic Cid moment. You might enjoy the 10 minute chibi crossover on youtube of Kagejitsu x Overlord. And we got a trailer for the movie recently, so if you want, you could throw it all together for a "final" episode until the movie actually comes out.
18:01 so mordred explained that when the worlds colide things are exchanged between the worlds ... My guess is that when Cid was reincarnated, the worlds colided and the same way he went to the other world, or a copy of his memories to be more precise... magic was introduced to the world that he lived ... and the apocalyptic state is probably result of a lot of ppl getng super powers
The first episode of season 1 was actually taken from a short story that was halfway through LN volume 4 that was placed right between the wedding arc and the earth arc. It’s actually during the dream Akane was having before going out to look for other survivors of whatever has apparently caused the apocalypse on earth. Shadow ended up on earth because he figured that in his infinite knowledge of how to be the coolest person to ever exist is that jumping into a wormhole to an unknown location is the most badass way to leave after slaying what is essentially a god.
This is like a parody of Isekai but is also using all the tropes unapologetically. Embraces the chuuni and runs a hundred miles ahead with it. But then... This anime somehow drops one of the best cliff-hangers in Isekai. That ending got me like WTF.
Yeah this show was unlike others I've seen! They did a great job blending the parody funny bits while also being a genuinely interesting and complex story! It's really cool! They made me laugh while also keeping me on the edge of my seat! We had a great time with it!
You can actually read the manga from chapter 1 to until you catch up with animeʼs finale, manga, Light Novel, Webnovel and Anime all has different type of entertainment to it, youʼll also understand lots of staff you didnʼt by watching the anime alone, trust me, even if you start with chapter 1 of the manga, you wonʼt regret it reading and you can stop yourself when you caught up to anime if you wish or even if you read until the latest chapter of manga, your interest wonʼt fade away, because both manga and anime adapted Light Novels a little differently, thatʼs why you wonʼt get bored even if you start from the beginning
In EiS world magic needs some sort of physical anchor. Detached from one, it only goes a few feet at most. Epsilon did the impossible and is able to actually throw her magic great distances from herself, Mordred was almost completely caught off-guard. Beta totally went to Japan with Cid. I can't wait to see how the movie adapts the Reverse Isekai arc, it is a treat from beginning to end. Akane's second kidnapping was an anime-original scene to make neat bookend to the anime as it stands, now. Also, during the Cosmic Atomic, there was a shot of a person in front of the pile of stones. That was Zeta, and that shot gave a vague hint about her backstory.
Almost like it’s not magic at all, huh… I wonder when people will start to realize what magic means in the context of Japanese fantasy, videogames, and Isekai specifically.
@@thefrenzysfm7836 The original Japanese word for it is the native Japanese term for “mana,” which is “魔力・Ma'ryoku.” Aizawa-sensei is likely using this intentionally, as the fact that mana flew into the world of Midgar 10,000,000 ago is very important, because 10,000,000 years is enough for any organism to adapt to a foreign substance like mana. And they did. Most, if not all living things in the world of Midgar, have mana receptors that let them control mana to a limited extent. Why does this matter? Because if mana flowed into the world of Midgar during a netherworld collision, that means it’s likely that a netherworld with an actual magic system exists, and could become a huge plot-point if it were to intentionally invade the world of Midgar, as they have down-right broken tech that could basically defy the perceived notions about the laws of physics and E=MC². As of right now, no one in the world of Midgar or any other netherworld we’ve seen, has broken the law of E=MC². There are no Fireballs, no actual Spells, no curses, and no legitimate magic circles-because the ones we see in the sanctuary are actually mana circuits, just like we have electricity circuits in real life. We haven’t seen anyone randomly convert mana into something it physically shouldn’t be able to, since E=MC² exists, so this is practical proof that there’s no magic involved either. The choice to translate it as “magic” was really just the localizer of the original first volume of the light novel being lazy, like they always are in localization teams ’cause they value relatability and simplicity more than accuracy. “魔力・Ma'ryoku” never means “magic” in Japanese, and the only exception would be if it’s used for its meaning of “one’s capacity to control mana” or “one’s capacity for ‘魔・Ma’”. I’m saying this as someone who’s been learning Japanese for the past 5 years, and knows the clear difference between translation and localization. 本当に、この事実を否定する単一言語者が多すぎるんだよ。ありえないほど無意味な言い訳を作り上がりしまくって客観的事実として示そうとしてるんだ。 マジで鬱陶しい。
Glad you guys enjoyed it so much! Btw you both should definitely try reading BOTH the manga and LN's from the beginning, at least up through what the anime covered if you don't want to go ahead. This is a series where each medium is fun in it's own way and wouldn't be boring to reread like other shows. The manga leans into the comedy aspect way more than the anime and LN and is one of the most hilarious things you'll find. The LN tones down the comedy but goes way deeper into the plot, Cid's thought processes, etc.
Really glad you guys decided to watch this show. I can't recall if I started watching your reactions on episode 1 or 2, but thank you for that and for the wonderful reactions and unique (and hilarious) editing!
Really really enjoyed your reactions to Eminence in Shadow and kageijtsu (Say, did you do the first season of kageitsu? I can't remember). I gather that if the movie follows the novels, it should be Cid + Beta, as they hinted. One amusing fact is that Beta is actually a bit more important in the novels than she is in the TV series, because every novel ends with a hilarious summary of the arc written "in character" by Beta as the Chronicles of Master Shadow.... Best part should be Beta's reaction to visiting another world.
Mordred got roasted, beaten off screen, tricked by reverse psychology and after that he literally explained the Conjunction of the Spheres.... So far he was the most disrespected Knight of round against Shadow Garden. Lol Meanwhile Shadow sees a portal appear and goes through it without knowing the destination and if there is a way to return because it seemed like a new event to him. In Minoru's previous world, 3 years passed after his death and due to the collision of worlds, magic and monsters ended up happening in that world.
If you still want to react more to TEIS, you can always react to Kage-Jitsu Season 1 (Unless you already did and I somehow missed it) and or you can react to the story of the mobile game "The Eminence in Shadow: Master Garden" because, as far as I know, the story is cannon and it takes place during the two years Alpha and the others left Cid before reuniting back in EP3 S1.
Now you suffer with us waiting for the movie. The very first episode is not how the novel or the manga start. They actually start from the second episode. The first episode is shown in the novel and the manga right after the Oriana kingdom arc (aka what should be the beginning of the movie) as a flashback. The anime cast planned to make that flashback as the start of the anime and circle back to it at the very end.
This episode blew Cashew and Nivi's minds. Your reaction What!? It reminded me of the movie Grown Up 2. 😂 You will know in the movie Akane's backstory as the "Savior" and the reason why a certain character has a vendetta against her.
After Cid and truck-kun met his original world had a collision with a magic beast world which brought beasts and magic to Earth. This caused civilization to collapse fairly quickly since you need magic to kill the beasts. Also season one is covered in the first two LNs, season two is made up of LN 3 and the first half of LN 4. The Earth arc will be the movie.
No date for the movie yet. Will try and reply to this comment when we get a confirmed date :3 I'm glad you were as baffled at the last episode as I was 😂

@@LostTurtle-sds7_4kna It's a movie, not a TV season. It will take longer than making a 12 episode season. The schedules are nonnegotiable so the movie has to be 100% finished for release. This means the production staff will want ample time to finish it. Expecting it by October this year just because both season one and two aired in October a year apart, is very improbable. The poor staff would be working so much overtime, burn out and maybe not even finish. Also, @deenszxking6818 stated it as fact, when it is not, it is very much speculation with no real sources to back it up. Hence why I wanted them to tell me where this information was coming from. I'm assuming after this they heard about the movie that takes place right after this arc. Also nivi cid was reincarnated aka reborn he wasn't just isekai'd aka summoned. The black hole sent him back like in regular Isekai fashion. Also yes cid got put back and ran back episode 1 again
Well, a rewatch would definitely be much better than no rewatch. There’s a lot of things that you wouldn’t notice the first time; not to mention, a lot of things are foreshadowed earlier in the story. Also, the source material of this story is the Light Novel, not the manga, so be careful about the “go read the manga” bros, ’cause the Anime is not adapting the manga, which is actually the most comedic iteration of the story-to the point that it makes it less serious and misses the point a lot of the times.

Perv Asshat isn’t actually dumb. He was actually planning to apply improvements to the cult’s stiff situation and how the members would be too hostile and negligent on things, including when it came to Shadow Garden. The impression you got is probably because of “asshat” which isn’t what you think it is. In fact, majority of things aren’t what you think it is, ’cause Anime is primarily made for the Japanese, so the “asshat” part is actually a pun on “assbat” which is a BDSM play type. That’s why he’s called “Hardcore M Asshat” in Japanese.
Either way Perv Asshat couldn't have lasted long as the 12th member. If you consider the conspiracies and lack of cooperation in the cult, Loki, Petos or any of the higher ups would have eliminated him at the slightest failure, punishment or due to any reason.
