I stopped watching anime years ago but my friend really urged me to watch this one and I was not disappointed, so excited for this series.

I agree, this show is very Ghibli-esque in the way it lets the scenes breathe and includes those little mundane moments.

Growing up Ronald McDonald was the only clown I liked. He and his friends were a pretty big part of my childhood and even had a video series you could purchase a McDonald’s back in the day!👍👍

my own reaction to this episode was pretty much the same

When I think of this series, I think of a nice fall night, wrapped in a warm blanket and a cold glass of water. It's fall incarnate, and while I'll admit parts of it are a bit weaker than others, overall, it encapsulates fall itself.

Good turning point.

"I thought that'd be the reveal at the end" ah but then what of The Beast? and yeah its kinda wild that like over halfway through the show's like main goal is jsut dealt with already and completely changes the the set up with wirt and greg splitting from beatrice seemingly.

Endicott didn't hurt anyone, he and Margueritte are just so rich and their houses are just so big they unwittingly started building into each other's mansions so they ended up connecting

Frieren was coldly savage that it shocked everyone when it first aired but lets be honest, all she did was what Aura (probably) did to everyone that fell under her control. Not one of those knights under her control had a head after all.

I assume the Demons wanted all the Elves dead because of their "Potential" to become powerful. In general terms, one increases their mana simply by training, and the longer you train the greater mana you can have - so a long-lived race like the Elves, if they were dedicated entirely to increasing their mana, could become a serious threat to the Demon King in the long term, even if they weren't at the time of Flamme (Which, incidentally, was exactly what happened with Frieren).

About the reason the Demon King wanted to kill all the Elves. While there isn't a specific reason stated in the source material yet, we can speculate about it. Demons are immortal creatures, or at least extremely long lived and are exceptionally talented in magic. In a prolonged war against humans and dwarves, the Demons would win in the end. Why? Because of their natural longevity, their magic prowess and their art of deception. Let me clarify using what has been presented until now. Humans are versatile and can use magic very well, but, mana is proportional to the age of the user, their natural talent and can grow even more through training. While a human mage might be magically gifted and well versed in combat, his mana and control will always be lesser than a Demon's that has lived for centuries and has continuously trained and refined his art. meaning that except a few rare cases such as Flamme, no human mage will ever be anywhere near the level of the generals of the Demon Army and certainly nowhere near the level of the Demon Lord/King. The same is true for the Dwarves as well. The Dwarves live for about 3 centuries give or take. While they are exceptionally tough and capable warriors, they are not capable of reaching the Demon King alone. Now for the most important part of the equation. Humans and Dwarves forget. Let me make this clear. If during the war, the humanoid races managed to push back the Demons, the Demons are practically immortal, and that means they can retreat and hide in the north wastelands were the human and dwarven armies would not venture. There they can wait for 50 years to recuperate, while also refining their magics even further, and then they can reemerge and start the war anew. While the humans would not have sat idly and would certainly progress in their magical and scientific studies, the problem is that those new inventions would not be in the hands of capable warriors and mages and would not be geared towards war alone. Because the humans would have forgotten the threat of the Demons and would have used their time and energy for other pursuits. Consider this. How many people understand the dangers of a world war? How many remember the horrors of the World Wars? The answer is almost no one. Those two wars shaped the world as we know it today and most of the youngsters don't even know about them nor do they understand what war really is, they know it only through movies and games, a romanticized version of the fact. That is the ultimate weapon the Demons have against the "lesser races" such as humans and dwarves. The fact that they forget and would not be prepared. You saw it even in the anime already. The humans 80 years ago learned that the Demons are liars and are incapable of living alongside the rest of the races as they lack empathy and see everyone else as food. But, fast forward 80 years and a Northern human citadel that had been in the front lines during the war, is allowing "peace envoys" to enter the city! Do you see the problem here? The humans, despite having seen the true nature of their foe before, have forgotten it after a period of time. Add to that that their warriors are not battle hardened veterans and will have to relearn how to fight and restructure their whole military and economy to be a war economy again and you have a recipe for disaster. In every scenario I can think of the Demons would win in a prolonged battle of attrition. The only exception to the above are the Elves. The Elves are practically immortal like the Demons, they are extremely magically gifted perhaps even more so than Demons (minor spoiler, the elves are the ones that taught magic to the Humans), and most importantly they have perfect memories. Meaning that they would never forget what they learned about the Demons and would always be prepared to face them in battle and would not be deceived by their promises of truce. That is what the Demon King feared, the fact that the Elves would always be prepared and would warn those around them about the Demon threat. And lastly he was concerned about the possibility of an Elven mage that could become as strong as he was. Because an Elven mage is immortal and would continue to grow as a mage forever and since he or she would not forget the threat of the Demons, that mage would train and become even more of a threat. The only logical solution to the problem for the Demon King would be a genocide. To erase the Elven race completely so that they can never be a threat to him again.

Something I always feel people miss is the connection between frienen the slayer and her current time. She was called frieren the slayer the Individual who has killed more demons than anyone else in history, yet she made her first appearance 80 with himself. She killed more demons in 80 years than anyone else ever did.

"Why was blitz so upset about that" There have been a few hints in previous episodes the blitz wants to sleep with both moxxie and millie. I mean, we see him using moxxie and millie dolls saying "let's threeway" in season 1 episode 2 i think

This episode ending had the most Wtf hype moment in the first season for me.

You know, it’s funny that Heiter said that frieren is one fifth of his mana. Assuming that she wasn’t limiting it to less than 10%, Heiter had the mana of a serval century old frieren.

As we've seen, Frieren's hatred of demons comes from a place of revenge for their near extinction of her kind, and for a millennia she let it fester and build just as much as her mana. She could have released herself as soon as her mana hit the scales, but she didn't. She deliberately led Aura on, then took the time to let the demon realize the depths of her mistake before finally uttering one of the coldest lines in anime ever and walking away. She toyed with her like a cat with a mouse, and when she was done, forgot about her like every other demon she's killed. And given that Aura did the same thing to all of those knights behind her, all I can say is... ...payback's a _bitch._ PS While Frieren's last line is the coldest, the funniest line in the series is how, as soon as Aura's head hit the ground, what's the next thing we hear? ~/Are you alright?/~ NOPE! 🤣

After Frieren meets with the hero's party there is a brief montage of a couple frames. Apperently this montage was timed to be 1/100 of the length of the montage between the death of Flamme and the meeting of Himmel.

One thing that people don't think about enough imo is that Heiter said that Frieren's apparent mana was "not bad" for their group, but also that he himself was FIVE TIMES stronger than that. We've only ever seen him drunk or playing around, but it seems like he is a monster! (well, he wasn't a bishop of the holy city for nothing I guess). Also, one of my favorite moments in this series is Frieren remembering the 10 years she spent with her friends as flashes of still images because of how short it was compared to her life. And yet it impacted her tremendously.

When Himmel and the Hero Party meet Frieren, she isn't wearing the earrings. She is, however, wearing the earrings in flashbacks after joining the party. I believe that she had kept Flamme's earrings after her passing and decided to wear them when she finally went out to kill the DK. It's how she brought Flamme along with her to show Flamme her dream. Freiren continues to wear the earrings to show Flamme the 'peaceful' world she wanted. Yes, they look a bit different, but that's what happens to things over 1k years.

That was one of the most baller victories I've ever seen in an anime

Yep! Super chill. Frieren turning her back on Aura and not even watching the win, has to be the coldest moment in anime. In the manga it is even more clear, that we watch Frieren walk away with Aura's eyes at the ground level because that is where her head is.

One of the hardest "F U, loser" flexes in all anime/manga ever created. I still get chills and smile until my cheeks hurt after this finale scene. I NEED a Flammé spin-off manga. Now.
