- Popular talk show host Wendy Williams went from discussing hot topics to becoming one herself. This past weekend, Lifetime premiered a docuseries on Williams’ life, painting a not-so-flattering picture of the TV icon. Many close to Williams have spoken out against the series. TV host Steve Wilkos joins PIX11 to discuss the docseries and Williams’ health status after being diagnosed with dementia.

If I understood correctly, Wendy's son, Kevin Jr, did have POA over her finances, until the courts took that away from him. Wendy had said that Kevin Jr would get everything she has, after her death, and whatever he wanted while she was living. How do the courts have the right to remove him as her POA?

The documentary explained the situation. Basically they required her to move back to NY because that’s where her residence is. When she got back she started back drinking and decided that she didn’t want her family making decisions for her because they wouldn’t allow her to drink. That’s what triggered the guardianship

This whole situation with Wendy is very sad, ofcourse, and VERY, VERY suspicious ! What the h*ll is going on, that is the question. It's sinister, how Wendy is being treated, no human being deserves to be treated like this, she's being robbed blind and she's being taken advantage of at a time when she's extremely ill, at her lowest, most vulnerable, and at her very worst. It's sinister, sick, twisted, and cruel how Wendy is being treated. Hopefully the world, her fans, and the authorities will get to the bottom of it !

One of the scenes that bothered me, was at the restaurant scene in the 2nd part. The family wanted to talk to her about her drinking. With that said, Wendy's son and nephew ordered alcoholic drinks! What were they thinking!! Of course Wendy is going to ask for what they were drinking. Ordering the alcoholic drinks, when Wendy is struggling with her drinking is so beyond irresponsible!
Her son and nephew were drinking? I didn’t notice that part. I noticed that they were 45 minutes late meeting her when she flew down to Miami.
@HH-gv8mx Yes, it was towards the end of part 2. When the son and nephew sat down, they got alcoholic drinks. Wendy then asked for what they're having. They shut down the camera shortly after.
They arrived late didn't even hug her.I sensed they only showed up for the camera No one from her family came to stay with her for any significant time in NY when she started showing signs of emotional distress As long as they had access to her money it was all good Once a Guardianship was in place every one came running.I think they wanted her to come to Florida to get a new judge to over through the Guardianship.All the rumors about the guardian robbing her are probably false accusations.The family seemed a little "SUS"to me What was the purpose of the documentary.Notice all the private conversations during the filming.They only let us see their side of the story.When ever a bank notices excessive spending or irregular spending on anyone's account they do investigate.Whatever the bank disclosed deemed it necessary to appoint guardianship to a non family member.They mentioned in the documentary that there were conflicts within the family concerning Wendy's well being.Thats the reason a Guardianship was appointed.

Do you remember when Wendy gave her son two T-shirts at the restaurant? I didn’t catch what his gripe was about one of the shirts. And Wendy said well you can give it back and then he decided he wanted to keep it. She has always had to buy his attention and affection. I remember her talking about her son and her nephew living with her in New York and taking them shopping and buying them lots of swag from supreme and I can imagine when Kevin had that $80,000 a month apartment in Miami the key in the nephew and all of the rappers and celebrities that live in that luxury building, we’re living on the hog on Wendy dime. And let’s not forget, Kelvin , Wendy’s ex-husband lived around the corner in Miami.

The scene so much reminded me of an alcoholic coworker I had. She was not supposed to drink, and somehow she would get drunk from the table to the bathroom. People were always intercepting alcoholic drinks that will come in her way, but somehow she end up drunk anyway. She would also buy gifts for peoples approval and acceptance kind of like Wendy

You need to watch Melissa Rivers podcast. She breaks it down very well so you can understand the whole situation if you are not gonna watch the lifetime documentary. You will get a good glimpse of what’s really going on.
Her son siphoned a lot of money out of her account. Such an alarming amount that the banks were alerted, and the Supreme Court ruled to have a guardian over Wendy, and none of the family seemed trustworthy enough to be deemed Guardian over her finances. There is a reason why the Supreme Court stepped in.
Could we please STOP using the word “disturbing” nothing about this is disturbing. I am happy they have aired this so that people who are young and drinking heavily know alcohol induced dementia is real! Mental health is real and it doesn’t discriminate. My heart, prayers and positive thoughts are with Wendy and her family

Absolutely . I agree. Wendy deserves better care and the guardianship is a joke. The courts do not care . They are after the person's money and assets. While the disabled is put away and forgotten about. The family is block and the court justice system has full control. But that will change for Wendy has big fan base and Hollywood friends who want to see her win.
So deep, dark and disturbing. Guardianships should be outlawed unless there is no family or friends and I mean real friends.
The court system is doing underhanded work and need to be address on how this case is being handled. The judge needs to be held accountable and investigated because it looks suspicious how she and the guardian are connected outside of the court room by compaign donations.

The family FOUGHT for this docuseries to be released because they felt that Wendy and her family's voice was not being heard
Her court appointed guardian, tried to sue LIFETIME to stop the release of the docuseries but failed.
Wendy's family felt that what her management at the time, Wells Fargo, and the NY court did to Wendy was unjust and needed people to realize that it is happening to everyone; the system is broken and it needs to be fixed with the health of the person being top priority.
I don’t think he knows the larger strategy behind it. In fact, when I first heard about it, I didn’t know who or what was motivating the release of such negative footage. Had to watch a couple of videos to piece things together and finally understand the bigger picture.

The family probably had thoughts of financial gain. There is no documentary in history that has aired the downfall of a celebrity with dementia. I don't remember seeing a documentary of Bruce Willis' decent into his Alzheimer's.
Wendy needs to be around family... dementia help is familiar faces sounds people. Personally work with similar and they need a certain person to help.

Wendy will go down as a legend especially for producing this documentary and exposing the snakes around her, her illness and guardianship! I also have to give credit to Lifetime. I believe the producers as hard as it may have been shade light on what was happening behind closed doors. No one would not have known. Now the world knows of dementia and what caregivers goes through and how broken is guardianship. Its hard. Now she can get the help she really need. Its all out in the open...no more hiding and in some ways this was Wendy cry for help. You all will understand what i mean if you put the emotion to the side and focus on the big picture - Wendy got one of the worse illnesses in the world and its not going to get better BUT GOD🙏

Check and see if she has close ties to former manager BERNIE. He is the devil behind Wendy's downfall. Not sure if her refusal to take the jab causing her to be disallowed to return to her show broke a contract. but we know breaking contracts in Hollywood does not go well. Then her money is locked up, show closed down.... I suspect BERNIE knows Samantha. EVIL. They should be investigated with regard to Wendy.

Her husband broke her, she worked so hard to be successful, and she trusted him so much, made her feel beautiful and wanted, made her feel safe and important. When she found out Kevin had another life for 16 years, and kids..with basically her money, her money..that totally broke her. She broke crying when was talking about him, and has rage…it doesn’t take much to brake a person..

The fam knew something was going on at least 10 years ago and just put a bandaid on it.

The reason Wendy made the documentary, executive produced the documentary, released the documentary, is to show the situation surrounding all of those in her life! Just like people feel that her brother means her no good, does not know that Wendy and Tommy, have been best friends, their entire lives! Both of Wendy's siblings are well off, and not after her money either! Some of yall be reaching! If you walked away, after watching the documentary, with the thoughts that her family does not care for her, or have her best interests at heart, maybe you should watch it again!

This makes me really sad, but it also hurts deep into my soul. I have had my life and soul ripped open for everyone to see and then to stomp on me when they thought that I was down and ou. I truly had nobody. Those who ere suppose to be a part of my “village”, ran a way and faster than my enemie. I have also had my life devalued and my humanity disrespected.
So all I will say is there will be a day of reckoning for all. Life can be beautiful, but it can be very cruel. If you are fortunate to live a long life, eventually you will need a village of supporters, mentally, emotionally and physically. Be kind, considerate, thought and emphatic to others because when it’s time for you to go through your trials and tribulations, you may find yourself alone and without a village too, Gail McBride.

Look...she has dementia and it's not going to get better. Why are they saying she has not been diagnosed?! Her son seems to be the only one confirming this and talking about it. The courts would definately need a confirmed diagnosis to make decisions on Wendy's behalf. Where the hell were her family all this time. Miles away with their heads up their asses that's where. The alcohol is another issue altogether. Who is buying her alcohol? Shame on them who showed this and shame on them who cant say no to her. Not once did anyone tell her that going back to work was not going to happen.They are obviously scared of her. With dementia comes personality and mood changes. Anger to crying a lot. She isn't aware of her cognitive decline. She can't make good decisions and take care of herself. Her exopthalmus is worse. Her eyes are just bulging out and she's staring. Stress and poor management of her Graves disease are likely the cause. And why has it been a whole year before her niece came to visit her in New York. It seems the family left everything to Will... her Manager for too long. Now they're complaining because the courts had to finally step in. That's the only reason the courts are involved.
I really feel so sad for Wendy Williams. I mean I knew she has some health issues and some things going on in her life like 30 years ago that she did overcome. But it seems as though she went down like really fast.. My heart goes out to her and her son.. and I do pray for her peace of mind.. physically and emotionally, I don't know if there's anything else that can be done. ☹️🙏❤️🙏

I'm glad i got a chance to honestly see her hair, because it doesn't look bad at all to me..but i didn't see her entire head/scalp but i was certainly surprised at how well it still looks after wearing wigs for many years. I wish her the best healing for her health.
Her son was wasting $100,000 for Uber eats on his retired mom finances. At the end of the day, I think he was being an average, irresponsible kid and he did not need to be in charge of so much money.. the court system protected Wendy’s asset.

I have had a father die after a frontotemporal dementia diagnosis and a mom who’s 88 currently suffering with her own form of dementia. We lost my ex-husband at 59, who was an alcoholic, a year and a half ago. I believe there was possibly some alcohol related dementia with him. As hard as it is to see Wendy in this exposé, I’m just hoping that people are educated.

I remember, once upon a time, Wendy saying on her show -- in regards to a celebrity being caught on camera with matted hair and looking extremely disheveled -- that no one would EVER see her without a wig on and looking all disheveled, so it was sad to see her look the way she did in the docu-series. That was a pretty good indicator, for me, that a major part of her was missing.

Exactly.. everyone is in denial about dementia, it was only brought up A SINGLE time by her family on the show, dementia is permenant. She has an alcohol problem but this has spiraled out of control. she can't just "get better" and "back to who she was before"..

I watched her show periodically but truly it's evident she has some mental concerns after watching the documentary. From what we've learned, Wendy lost the life she was accustomed to and that alone can make a person feel some type of way in addition to hard work for the show. It was awful seeing her or anyone in her current state. Let's continue to pray for Wendy as well as everyone who is struggling with mental illness. Hopefully, people admit and understand they need to seek help because families have a habit of either ignoring the signs or being embarrassed to admit there is an issue. Stay safe

I didn’t know that they filmed her without her wig. And filmed her feet and expose her medical records. It sounds like to me, they’re trying to embarrass black woman! And that’s not right! I don’t wish that on anybody. 😢
Wendy sadly abused drugs and alcohol her entire adult life knowing she had a really difficult auto immune disease and ignored Dr. appointments and ignored most of the people in her life. Her parents screwed her up bad with the whole eating thing in her childhood. We all make choices and she does need the conservatorship. Her family was trying to rob her blind.

When you criticize Whitney for her drug use for ratings, all while knowing that you're a closet alcoholic, that's "nasty," this dementia was self inflicted, Wendy fell victim to the very vice that she used to VICTIMIZE! I love Wendy anyway. She is a person with a soul. That talk show was her life. Yes, she made a name for herself on the radio with the celebrity gossip.
