    You say you're missing out on a lot of details, as this is just for the tutorial. I'd love to see (at least in a time-lapse) how you make the same model but with all the details that you would add in real life. Because I understand the basics, but I wonder what I'm missing to get this to a good result.
    Thank you for the lesson!

    Add cube for reference, then delete it and add new one for model! Love it! :D

  • @ExacoMvm
    @ExacoMvm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    0:52 You actually don't need to model it in right scale, simply later you can scale final model till it's height matches, less initial work. Since while modeling over reference photo the end result might not perfectly match anyway due to camera perspective + matching to a photo ruler isn't ideal too.

      I think this is a lesson for begginers on how to think ahead on these projects, visualizing the final product.

    • @ExacoMvm
      @ExacoMvm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@locophat Probably, but beginners should start doing it the "right way" since habbits can build easily and it's hard to change them later on.

    When you're insetting with a mirror modifier you can press B to do it across the entire face so you dont have to do the merging at around 2:55. Great Video though!

    • @DamianMathew

      Inventor Studio you probably have to apply scale in object mode with ctrl A.

    • @Awertnex
      @Awertnex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Or if you bevel and keep hitting "M" while still in bevel mode, you switch between bevel types, try that, it might help

      @faziolifairmont8125 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      this kinda sucks, he is doing it wrong. blender is much better than this.. i MAINLY suggest to keep it low poly, and use subsurface modifier, and vertex groups to put proportion while keeping it low poly. Low poly makes it easy to adjust without having to start from scratch all the time, and it makes computing it a lot faster.

    • @Awertnex
      @Awertnex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    With a 3D CAD you will be most faster. I can build this in Catia or Solidworks in 5 mins. Including 3D pritable and manufactur.
    If course i can not shader or render. But maybe its possible to combine both styles?

    • @DamianMathew
      @DamianMathew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes yes totally!! And yes you can combine both. What you are mentioning is the normal workflow.
      Usually me as a render artist would get CAD data from a guy like you to render. Normally a product like this will not get modeled just for a render. Usually you would use the real manufacturing data.

    hello does client provide a sketch or specifications of their product before you create it? just curious

    • @DamianMathew
      @DamianMathew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are only rare cases where you have to make the model. Any hard surface products should be delivered as CAD. Soft body usually will be modeled/simulated.
      I also felt bad making this tutorial and only made it because so many people asked. But in the real world you probably will not encounter a modeling job like this for a client like Logitech.
      The reason is, for years all factories use 3D files to produce the product. That’s the file you will be using to render.
