You should try experimenting on mood rings, the ones that change colour "depending on your mood". I would reccomend putting them in a vacuum, smashing or opening them, and then put whatever's inside them in the vacuum chamber too.

Well you still haven't because it came from harbor freight.
It's a vibratory tumbler. What do you want, stainless steel outer tub, or a union label? Sure. you can pay $400 for a "professional" tumbler and it will perform exactly like the (admittedly cheap) harbor freight unit. And the HF unit won't last as long, but for the difference in price you could buy ten new HF tumblers. I'm all for well built tools, but I believe the term that applies is "gild the lilly."

I'm not sure if someone stated this already but tumblers like that require some detergent and water to work best. I use to work at the local machine shop in that department.

Can you polish some things using the tumbler? And you should show microscope view before & after
I use corncob media and liquid metal polish together in my tumbler (I use my tumbler for polishing brass for reloading ammo), I think the media y'all used wasn't appropriate for the stuff you were polishing.
I totally agree. Also it's from harbor freight so maybe a better tumbler.
@@a2112drummer, Yeah, I have a Frankford Arsenal tumbler that works great (and I've had it for like 5 years now) and isn't anywhere near as loud as they were making that Harbor Freight one out to be.
Yes agree had too much stuff in it . Any one tried baking soda for media?
You have a fine polishing compound for polishing cases for reloading ammunition
Liquid polish and pecan hulls or corncobs.
Use cobmeal (wear a particle mask when using and opening the tumbler container), also try sand ( I have some white sand from Florida if you would like me to send it to you)
I’ve been to Florida and I miss it so much
Looks like you forgot water and a drop of soap
these tumblers are built to be ran dry, especially with the resin medium :)

I've always thought that glass shards would get dull after awhile kinda like a knife.......
You could totally fix that, you just need a new threaded rod for the middle (and some blue threadlocker for the wingnut on top.)
Well i guess you can say we're all pretty "SHOOK" ;)
I have several vibratory tumblers I use for cleaning ammunition brass. I used to have issues with the tumblers "walking" across the garage floor while they were running. I tried putting the tumblers on different things to fix the issue with no luck until I tried some pieces of used linoleum flooring. I cut them down so the tumblers would fit on them and put the "slick" side down and the rough side up, which is opposite of what you do when you install the flooring... Worked like a charm! I can leave my tumblers running for hours and they don't budge at all. I got the idea from the flooring guys who installed my laminate flooring. They put linoleum down on the concrete floor first to act as a slip pad and they laid it down on the slick side with the rough side facing up. That way the laminate flooring would "float" over the rough side, so to speak.
I would like to see you guys redo everything you already put in the tumbler. Don't put candy or soda cans inside.
next time try using ceramic stones to tumble it in. Usually those polish better.
A normal rubix cube would probably be too big but what about a keychain sized one?

It's got a motor...insulating any motor while running without some cooling medium will cause catastrophic failure. It's an open air cooled motor. I kinda thought that would have been common sense. It produces heat, therefore insulating it might not be too smart? Just sayin.
While you're correct, it's a low voltage electric motor. This isn't really a whole lot different than a hard drive motor, or fan motor. Many fan motors are completely enclosed, and your hard drive motor sits inside a metal chassis that's beside other heat producing components. You could stick this tumbling machine next to a pool of gasoline for a week and you wouldn't have any problems (barring potential ESD), the enclosure it's self would act as a heat sink. Honestly, the worst thing that could have happened is the motor burning out.
@@Mouthwashh I'm a mechanical engineer. Its literally part of my job to know everything there is to know about every kind of motor. Low voltage or not, that is an air cooled motor...we call that a air over cooled motor. It NEEEDS open air to cool itself. That particular motor will not have air high temp air bleeders, and I doubt it had any internal overload, or it would have been short cycling. Heat goes up, which makes resistance go up, which makes more heat, which in turn makes more resistance, until catastrophic failure occurs.
@@paramountcyclops Regardless of your paper certificate, the actual risks involved were comically minimal. I've over volted circular sanders that were clogged with dust and debris to an extreme degree. They worked for a couple of hours to get the job done, got quite warm, and then proceded to die.
