This is a speedrun of Sonic Mania as Sonic and Tails in 48:57.52 to all emeralds. All emeralds is Good Ending/Best Ending.

Sonic Mania is a platform game published by Sega for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows in August 2017. Produced in commemoration of the Sonic the Hedgehog series' 25th anniversary, Sonic Mania pays homage to the original Sega Genesis Sonic games, featuring speedy side-scrolling gameplay. It takes place over 12 levels, including several redesigned from past games. The story follows Sonic, Tails and Knuckles as they venture to defeat their nemesis Doctor Eggman and his robotic henchmen, the Hard-Boiled Heavies.
✩ Plot ✩
After the events of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic and Tails detect a powerful energy reading on Angel Island and board their biplane, the Tornado, to investigate. However, Dr. Eggman sends an elite group of EggRobos to reach the signal before Sonic and Tails. The EggRobos excavate the source of the signal, a magical gemstone called the Phantom Ruby, just as Sonic and Tails arrive. The EggRobos gain new powers from the ruby, becoming the Hard Boiled Heavies, and send Sonic, Tails, and the island's guardian, Knuckles, through zones the trio have previously visited where they pursue Eggman to prevent him from using the ruby's power for evil, clashing with him and the Heavies along the way.
Sonic and his allies discover that Eggman has used the Phantom Ruby's power to retake control of Little Planet from Sonic CD. They board Eggman's robotic fortress, defeat him and the Heavies, and escape just as it explodes. If all 7 Chaos Emeralds are collected while playing as Sonic, the Phantom Ruby transports him and Eggman to another dimension. There, the Heavy King (the Hard Boiled Heavies' leader) betrays Eggman and takes the ruby, imbuing himself with power; Eggman attacks the Heavy to try to reclaim it. Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic and fights Eggman and the Heavy King separately to keep the ruby out of their possession. After the battle, the Phantom Ruby reacts with the Emeralds, negating Sonic's super state and creating a wormhole that engulfs itself and Sonic as Little Planet vanishes.

And this is why its so important to have good physics in sonic games, or else he literally loses the magic he had that separated him from just being a mario clone. This looks so fun and frantic.
And intricate level design with unique set pieces too that play together with his physics.

Amazing! Slope jumps and loop de loop jumps done so precisely for optimal speed are always a wonder to behold.
And thank you _very much_ for a "no major glitches" run. Don't get me wrong, I love glitchy runs too.
But sometimes I just want to see inhumanly precise platforming and gameplay.

Hey, im confused. Whenever I spin dash or drop dash sonics circle isn’t fully blue, you can still see his eyes, and he moves a lot slower, do u maybe know why?

I am SO FUCKING HAPPY this finally exists! Ever since I played mania for the first time I wondered what a tas of the game would look like and I finally get to see it!!! One particular detail I liked was that even though there was a bug in titanic monarch act 2 to clip into the wall and go straight to the boss YOU DIDN'T DO THAT AND YOU ACTUALLY LET US SEE THE LEVEL IN IT'S ENTIRETY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT!!!
My only real gripe with this run is that the super sonic music cuts out the rest of the music but that's not necessarily on you, that's just the cards you were dealt when trying to craft the ideal run. I'd love to see a sonic alone no emeralds run, but given how long this must have taken to make asking that might be a bit rich of me.
In any case, thank you so much for making this.
18:06 I noticed that sonic turns into tails for a split second during the transition from Press Garden act 1 to act 2. Anyway great speedrun!
The fact that this run is only about a minute slower than the world record RTA speedrun is saying something, considering this run is glitchless; skips such as SSZ 2 boss phase 1 skip, TMZ 2 skip, or FBZ 2 boss skip to name a few go unused.
Actually no. There is a glitch being used.
If you run to a certain direction, and then quickly go the opposite way, and then going to to the opposite, you will gain speed and be faster than you should be. They probably patched it by now. I think that this is the RSDK V5 Decompile of Sonic Mania.

This is a pretty easy game to Speedrun, tbt, but nonetheless, the way this guy does it is simply insane... such fast and precise jumps everywhere, it's insane; Even more how fast he can do the special stages with that jump trick.

In Mirage Saloon act 2, isn't there a trick you can do with partner tails, where he goes down without sonic, does a spindash jump, and hits the capsule?
I believe theres also a trick during the transition of Oil Ocean act 1 to act 2, where positioning your character in just the right spot, has them go down, without triggering the switch and ring drain mechanic.
