Not too much in labels. I tend to be something of a minimalist, I think the reason I started becoming more minimal fits with the reasons of an essentialist. I do not minimize for the purpose of having a simple life, but to be as efficient and nimble in life. It is the idea that it is easier for a jetski to change directions than an oil tanker. I like to be able to very quickly change directions. I do not change directions in life that often, but I like to know that I can.
Essential/Essentialism as a word itself is a term I can better relate to than "minimalism" (I'm in neither movement nor camp). It is more realistic, pragmatic, practical, intentional and purposeful, and that also doesn't evoke a bare to the bones room, with just 3 items in it.
Thanks for the explanation. I’m not either. I thought essentialism was actually less rigorous than minimalism. Turns out it’s the opposite. I like the idea of living with less in order to maintain less and spend less time managing stuff.
We're glad to hear you like the idea of living with less in order to maintain less :) I think that's the wonderful thing about Minimalism - you can pick up helpful ideas to apply to your own life to make the everyday easier/more enjoyable :)
Do you think you're a Minimalist or Essentialist?

Minimizing to be efficient and nimble in life is a wonderful pursuit
