Another fun fact... if you look really closely at them to see what they are afraid of.... they are looking at and are afraid of.... you. Because you have in fact died and are now one of the spirits.
Me too! I had a nightmare about my friends turning into ghosts the night that I went on it and I was too scared to go on it the next time I went. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ve been on it more than once after that, but now that I’m older I realize how great of a ride it was
Same here!! I'm sure the reason I was afraid of it because it had "haunted" in the name. But when I got older I realized... It's Disney. What was I so afraid of? Haha. This is my second favorite ride. Next to Small World, of course.
I just realized that you can hear the bride’s heart thumping in the attic scene. Nice callback to the original bride! I’ve never noticed that until now
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh yeah but that part is just a piano and all the new bride clips. If they wanted the heartbeat gone they would have just had a pianist come in and re record the song.
Did you guys know that a majority of the music from the iconic ride, The Haunted Mansion, was played backwards?! The foyer was played backwards by an expert organist, Gaylord Carter, to make it sound otherworldly to match the discord that Buddy Baker wanted in the foyer music! Also, part of the background music of grim grinning ghosts including the trumpet, jazz organ and flute part were played backwards to make it sound otherworldly to match the discord that Norman (Buddy) Baker wanted in the foyer music! They also used an out-of-tune oboe for the part in the background music for grim grinning ghosts and Buddy Baker told all the voice actors to act like they were mentally insane when speaking and singing! :D
@@ashlynrobinson4388 In the 70s, someone brought a gun into the park and fired off rounds in different attractions. One of those was the Haunted Mansion in the ballroom section of the ride, leaving a hole in the glass. If Disney were to have fixed it they would have had to remove the entire roof, so to cut costs and time, they just masked the hole and surrounding cracks with a spider on a web.
Stayed at a Victorian style bed and breakfast with the wife, when she went to the restroom at night I turned out the lights and turned on the gas fireplace and had this track playing on high volume and hid the phone under the bed, the best!!!
John Galvano I didn’t ride the Haunted Mansion until it was almost 13 years old (rode it in June 1982 with my family😈), but yeah, the HM attic bride (LONG LONG before the *scary awesome* current attic bride Constance) with the bright red glowing BEATING heart ALWAYS frightened me during my late childhood to early-mid teens🙀. In fact, one of my good friends has NEVER EVER liked the attic bride with the grim face, glowing eyes and beating heart, simply because the mere image of her would give her nightmares as a young child 😩. Even to this very day, she’s TERRIFIED of Constance Hatchaway, since she CANNOT stand the image of her chasing after her (and her longtime boyfriend) with a hatchet!! 😫👰👻 As for this LONGTIME fanatic of the *original* HM, I think Constance is FANTASTIC!!!!❤️😍👍
I’ve always loved her for some reason. I’ve had this twisted attraction to her. Like not romantic, but in interest and I just loved the vide she gave like that twisted dark vibe idk I’m weird
I’m an aspiring voice actor. I’ve been trying to imitate the Ghost Host’s voice for quite some time now, and I don’t think I’m any closer to getting it. Paul Frees, your voice was one in a million.
My voice falls perfectly in the natural voice range needed for that voice, so I can perfectly do it. And yet I'd still never want to take Frees' place if given the chance, because this audio is too legendary. ♥

The whole thing is so well-designed. 1:07 This line plays as the (specifically hired and trained) tall and spooky Disney employees guide the group down the hall from the rear into the doorless elevator room. "There's no turning back now" has such a powerful emotional effect because you're being pushed in by the crowd of people, actually making it physically difficult to turn back. 3:00 at this part after you exit the elevator and make your way down a spooky hallway before you get to the room where you get on the actual ride, there are some busts at the end of the hall that use the hollow-face illusion, which makes it look like they're watching you as you walk past. The audio it timed such that most of the crowd passes by them when and after the host says "any volunteers?"

I love this ride, it has just the right amount of creepiness... Like the first time I went on it (during the 50th actually) I did get a little freaked out. And its also a wonderful example of 60s spooky, it makes me think of Scooby Doo or the Addams Family

The original soundtrack had Beating Heart/Bleeding Heart, who never spoke & her heartbeat was heard thudding across the attic walls. She went by many names: Priscilla Gore (Ken Anderson concept), Sally Little (early concept to name the bride after the Sea Captain narrative was dropped), Emily Cavanaugh De Claire-Gracey (The Haunted Mansion Comic Book from SLG Comics & the Ghost Gallery "Orbituaries" [read as: character bios] by former Cast Members), Elizabeth Henshaw (the 2003 film starring stale funnyman Eddie Murphy), and Bernadette - with no surname given - for alliterative purposes (Bog Easy's Lonesome Manor level from the Epic Mickey 2 video game).
When I close my eyes and just listen, it's like I can feel the cool air in the Haunted Mansion and the while atmosphere is surrounding me even though I'm in my pjs at home 💙
My first time going on the haunted Mansion ride was on my senior trip. I went on the ride with my friend Jackie. I never laughed so hard. She almost peed her pants because she thought the entire thing was real and she was screaming for Jesus to save her. I was laughing my ass off especially when the hitchhiking ghosts jumped in her lap she refused to ever go on the haunted Mansion ride again. Right then I fell in love with that ride.
I LOVE LOVE the Haunted Mansion!! Have truly loved this ride since I'd first experienced it with my family during our visit to Disneyland in June 1982. At the time, I thought that it was a brand new ride, since my parents had never taken me to the Mansion during our previous 2 visits to Disneyland (in both 1977 & 1979, when I was 4 and 6, respectively). Being that it was my *VERY 1ST experience* on Haunted Mansion, I was SO VERY CAPTIVATED as I sat in the Doom Buggy with Dad. On the other hand, my little sis, who was almost 3, was clinging to Mom, hiding her eyes while whimpering and trembling uncontrollably during the entirety of the Mansion tour (it took her well over 2 decades to overcome her fear of this AWESOME dark ride😩). Anyway, I'm TOTALLY PSYCHED that this ride is turning 50 on August 9, 2019. What's even better is that my birthday is on August 8, just one day before the Haunted Mansion's *golden anniversary. HAUNTED MANSION FOREVER!!!!* 😁😜💜🏛👻🕷🕸
I know I’m late but please tell me you went to Disney for your birthday cause that would be amazing to celebrate that right before the anniversary combined with being at Disney would just be amazing
I barely remember it either lol The only thing that ever scared me about the ride was a nightmare I had about it. Yet strangely enough, now that I’m older, that part creeps me out
Ghost host: Kindly step all the way in please, and make room for everyone. There’s no turning back now. Child: But I have to go to the bathroom Ghost host: THERE'S NO TURNING BACK NOW! 😂😂😂
Paul Frees, what a voice. Scary (but fascinating and fun) at DisneyWorld when I was seven. Still scary at fifty-seven. To me, this attraction is the single greatest example of Disney imagineers quality and attention to detail.
The one and only Paul Frees as the Ghost Host, Eleanor Audley (the voices of Lady Tremaine and Maleficent) as Madame Leota, and Thurl Ravenscroft (dozens of voices in Disney productions) doing the lead vocal on "Grim Grinning Ghosts!"
I love seeing the ghosts dance, one blowing out the candles on her birthday cake. Oh and don’t forget the men with their backs to each other and then shoot at each other
My favorite movie and my favorite ride of all time, the haunted mansion is what inspired me to be a scare actor, and now I'm a scare veteran, I've been scaring for well over ten years
This is wonderful! Thank you! I have loved The Haunted Mansion since I was a tiny girl in the 70s. My favourite parts are the clock that strikes 13, the floating candelabra in the corridor, and the library with the marble concave busts. I had the record with storybook, and I listened to it all the time. The first time we visited, I was enthralled, and I still feel the same excitement, 45 years later. It is worth mentioning that I get so annoyed by people that won’t shut up in the stretching room. It just ruins it for those of us trying to listen and enjoy the attraction. We travel to Disney often, and every time we go on this ride, the talkers and screamers never fail to be obnoxious. I don’t remember it being that way until the 2000s. There are just a *lot* more guests now, and many of them don’t have manners.
I remember last time I was on Disney Land (in Paris), I saw this creepy house as we were getting ready to leave the park, and asked my group to go there for a last ride. When I started hearing the song, it caught me offguard. I was like "OMGOSH!! THIS IS THE HAUNTED MANSION!!" (the name was mostly covered on the front door by vegetation). I've been wanting to get in this ride for YEARS, and that realitzation was one of the best memories I got from that day. It was even better the fact that when we went in the sun was setting, and when we got out it was quite a lot darker than before.
One time we went on haunted mansion and in the stretching room the cast member said “please drag your bodies to the center of the room” and this guy was like “you forgot to say dead center” and everyone just died laughing. It was weirdly relatable and honestly just great.
Actually you can turn back once the doors are shut I’ve actually seen it done a woman was having a panic attack the tour guide stopped the progression opened up a magical side door & Escorted the woman out
Those are the "chicken exit" doors. One of them even leads to the OG Pet Cemetary behind the Mansion (the queue has a duplicate that was added after the original was closed off to guests).

This will always be my favorite Disney ride, it’s timeless, flawless (except for a specific spiderweb) and rings bells of my childhood. 💜💚
Ooook.
Ha ha - nice spiderweb reference! Flawless indeed. Lol.
What’s the spider web?

I can legitimately smell this ride and feel the wind hitting me during certain sections of this audio.
the bride with the beating heart always freaked me out when I was little
John Galvano I didn’t ride the Haunted Mansion until it was almost 13 years old (rode it in June 1982 with my family😈), but yeah, the HM attic bride (LONG LONG before the *scary awesome* current attic bride Constance) with the bright red glowing BEATING heart ALWAYS frightened me during my late childhood to early-mid teens🙀.
Even now that I’m older, I’m still freaked out by it xD
There’s just something eerie but intriguing about it...
( Ik that’s how it’s supposed to be )
I’ve always loved her for some reason.

The guy had a 4 octave range.

My voice falls perfectly in the natural voice range needed for that voice, so I can perfectly do it. And yet I'd still never want to take Frees' place if given the chance, because this audio is too legendary. ♥

When hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls. Whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still - that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight!
Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion. I am your host, your ghost host. Kindly step all the way in please, and make room for everyone. There’s no turning back now. Our tour begins here in this gallery, where you see paintings of some of our guests as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state.
Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis. Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination - hmm? And consider this dismaying observation: this chamber has no windows and no doors… which offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out! (Laughs.) Of course, there’s always my way.
Oh, I didn’t mean to frighten you prematurely. The real chills come later. Now, as they say, “look alive,” and we’ll continue our little tour. And let’s all stay together, please.
There are several prominent ghosts who have retired here from creepy old crypts all over the world. Actually, we have 999 happy haunts here - but there’s room for 1,000. Any volunteers? (Laughs.) If you insist on lagging behind, you may not need to volunteer.
And now, a carriage approaches to take you into the boundless realm of the supernatural.Take your loved ones by the hand, please, and kindly watch your step. Oh yes, and no flash pictures, please. We spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights.
Do not pull down on the safety bar, please. I will lower it for you. And heed this warning: the spirits will materialize only if you remain safely seated with your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside. And watch your children, please.
We find it delightfully unlivable here in this ghostly retreat. Every room has wall-to-wall creeps, and hot and cold running chills. Shhh, listen!
Let me out, let me out of here!
Serpents and spiders, tail of a rat, call in the spirits, wherever they’re at!
Rap on a table - it’s time to respond. Send us a message from somewhere beyond…
Goblins and ghoulies from last Halloween, awaken the spirits with your tambourine!
Creepies and crawlies, toads in a pond, let there be music from regions beyond!
Wizards and witches, wherever you dwell, give us a hint, by ringing a bell!
The happy haunts have received your sympathetic vibrations and are beginning to materialize. They’re assembling for a swinging wake, and they’ll be expecting me… I’ll see you all a little later.
In sickness and in… wealth. You may now kiss the bride. We’ll live happily ever after. Till death do us part. Here comes the bride. As long as we both shall live. For better or for… worse. I do. I did.
When the crypt doors creak and the tombstones quake, Spooks come out for a swinging wake. Happy haunts materialize and begin to vocalize. Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize!
Now, don’t close your eyes and don’t try to hide, For a silly spook may sit by your side. Shrouded in a daft disguise, they pretend to terrorize. Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize!
As the moon climbs high o’er the dead oak tree, Spooks arrive for the midnight spree. Creepy creeps with eerie eyes start to shriek and harmonize. Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize!
When you hear the knell of a requiem bell, Weird glows gleam where spirits dwell. Restless bones etherealize, rise as spooks of every size!
Ah, there you are! And just in time… there’s a little matter I forgot to mention - beware of hitchhiking ghosts!
They have selected you to fill our quota, and they’ll haunt you until you return! Now I will raise the safety bar, and a ghost will follow you home! (Laughs.)
Female: Please exit to your left by stepping away from the cars with your left foot first. Step out and stand on the moving platform.
Male: Please exit by stepping away from the cars with your left foot first. Step out and stand on the moving platform, please.
If would like to join our jamboree, There’s a simple rule that’s compulsory. Mortals pay a token fee; Rest in peace, the haunting’s free. So hurry back, we would like your company.

Stretching Gallery:
Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion. I am your host, your... ghost host. Kindly step all the way in please and make room for everyone. There's no turning back now.
Our tour begins here in this gallery where you see paintings of some of our guests as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state.

And consider this dismaying observation: This chamber has no windows and no doors, which offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out!
Of course, there's always my way. (Crashing thunder, scream)

Oh, I didn't mean to frighten you prematurely; the real chills come later. Now, as they say, look alive, and we'll continue our little tour. And let's all stay together, please. There are several prominent ghosts who have retired here from creepy old crypts from all over the world. Actually, we have 999 happy haunts here, but there's room for a thousand. Any volunteers? If you insist on lagging behind, you may not need to volunteer. The carriage that will carry you into the moldering sanctum of the spirit world will accommodate you and one or two loved ones. Kindly watch your step as you board, please. We spirits haunt our best in gloomy darkness, so remember, no flash pictures, please.
And now, a carriage approaches to carry you into the boundless realm of the supernatural. Take your loved ones by the hand, please, and kindly watch your step. Oh yes, and no flash pictures, please! We spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights.
Do not pull down on the safety bar, please; I will lower it for you. And heed this warning: the spirits will materialize only if you remain quietly seated at all times.

All our ghosts have been dying to meet you! This one can hardly contain himself!
Unfortunately, they all seem to have trouble getting through. Perhaps Madame Leota can establish contact. She has a remarkable head for materializing the disembodied.

What about Constance?

Cassandra Espinosa My birthday is the 9th! So psyched to be there for the anniversary and my birthday 😄
I know I’m late but please tell me you went to Disney for your birthday cause that would be amazing to celebrate that right before the anniversary combined with being at Disney would just be amazing
Play this as guests arrive for your house party. It quickly sorts out who you really want to talk to
Paul Frees has the most amazing voice!!! So much talent... EVER. He's up there with James Earl Jones!
Just imagine Frees doing the Mansion narration as Ludwig von Drake. That would put a ridiculous spin on it.

If I may ask, what was your state of mind?
Yes ikr
Paul Frees, what a voice. Scary (but fascinating and fun) at DisneyWorld when I was seven. Still scary at fifty-seven. To me, this attraction is the single greatest example of Disney imagineers quality and attention to detail.
The one and only Paul Frees as the Ghost Host, Eleanor Audley (the voices of Lady Tremaine and Maleficent) as Madame Leota, and Thurl Ravenscroft (dozens of voices in Disney productions) doing the lead vocal on "Grim Grinning Ghosts!"
Good and Host.
6:40 was when the ride got really lit! I've probably been on The Haunted Mansion Ride a good 200 times since I can remember
I love seeing the ghosts dance, one blowing out the candles on her birthday cake. Oh and don’t forget the men with their backs to each other and then shoot at each other
My favorite movie and my favorite ride of all time, the haunted mansion is what inspired me to be a scare actor, and now I'm a scare veteran, I've been scaring for well over ten years
I think this is my favorite ride.
Quarantined at home and missing Disneyland. This will work. Thank you for posting!
Use this soundtrack for recreating your own version of Haunted mansion.
God this brings me back to being a kid again and feeling so much dred and excitement.
I LOVE the graveyard music! It's really, really catchy!
I too had. The record and storybook... Thats how I can recite almost everyline... lol
Xewxjo.
10:39 This is where Grim Grinning Ghosts plays.
Thanks for posting this, I can actually hear and understand the Ghost Host's entire narration and not have it drowned out by crowd chatter.
This mansion is full of LOVE!!!!!
I couldn’t agree with you more Bruce. This is the mansion of love periodt
I first went on it it was during the fireworks so it was very dark really enchanted the experience for me.
You went to the Phantom Manor. It's theme is darker compared to the Haunted Mansion

That's pretty relatable my dude.
We listen to this daily! Why? Because we're so homesick for Disneyland! Thanks for easing our hearts! 🖤🌙🔮☠️🦇👻🦴👁️💔
Absolutely love this ride.
