    Hey I bought this tent after your video. I added gear aid seam grip to all the stitching and sprayed the tent down with Revivex and added via sewing a three inch skirt to the rain fly. A lot of extra work and about another 70 bucks but it’s holding up against the rain and wind fine now.

      Oh man that is AWESOME!! And you still saved a couple hundred bucks!! And i love the design of the tent! The lighting and the door and the storage are superior to the gazelle!

    I live full time in the 4-person swift rise tent. And have been for 8 months. The initial stake down I hung 3 camouflage tarps over my tent and one under the tent. My tent location I had used a shovel and made a mound for the tent so all water never goes up under my tent. I’ve never, not once had a single drop of rain in this tent. And soon I’m upgrading to this 8 person tent and will do the same and I don’t expect any rain water either. The initial set up took about an hour, but I was in no hurry.

      Ya some overhead tarps would definitely keep it dry in there. The extra room should be awesome for you!

    Thanks for doing this 3 part series I have looked at buying this tent vs. The gazelle and you answered every question I could have - yes the price is amazing but in the end the rain fly is what will have me buying the gazelle as camping in the north Ga mountains is just too unpredictable and heavy rain will leave us soaking with a magellan I also plan to use the tent to go to Yellowstone and need reliability nothing ruines a good camping trip then being soaking wet trying to sleep and being in the dark - maybe both will improve their product -magellan with a better rain fly and gazelle with a better entry door and a divider door and the wall storage system in the end the magellan really needs 3 things to improve the thickness of materials used the rain fly and I would like to see also screen doors also to keep bugs out - and they would have an amazing product again thanks for taking your time to do this!! Best of camping days ahead to your and your family! Edd Gimenez

      Thank you for your awesome comment sir!! I agree on all points! If you come back in two weeks we do in fact take a look at the gazelle t8!! You'll get even more info on making your decision. Ya it was the rain that did it for me. I've been in that very situation you described and it stinks!! Sounds like you have some awesome plans coming up!! Have fun out there!!! 👍🤜🤛

    Such a bummer about it leaking! That is a lot of water! You would have to have perfect weather to take this tent! It is a giant tent, lots of work to put it away, glad you found the trick! Your doing great, not old, look at all the active things you do! Have a great day!

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really love the tent but ya I don't like to be completely limited by the weather. Overall I'm pleased with the put away process, I think its manageable for the size of the tent. Haha ya, I guess young people can be out of shape too... so maybe its more that. Just need to hit the gym or get out and jog or something!! Thanks for watching Flack Fam, we appreciate it!! :-)

    For half the price I’ll buy a tarp and tarp over top if the forecast calls for really bad weather.

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is definitely a good option! Not only is the tent cheaper it has more bells and whistles too! Be careful of the floor material, even with a ground sheet of ANY moisture gets under there it will likely seep through!

    That tent is *MASSIVE* ! Disappointing about the rain test, but could be neat in the right setting. Great video! 👍

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup a tarp and a couple lines would take care of it! The fact that it IS massive and so easy to put up is the best!! Hey thanks for watching and commenting!! 😀

    I live in Florida and we get microbursts out of now where. So seeing that amount of water doesn't necessarily seem out of line for what to expect. I have just bought one of these and it will be interesting to see how it performs in lighter rain conditions but, I do agree the rain fly may really need that vent open to allow the rain fly not to bellow. Great video series.

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya I think it will do just fine in light rain. I just don't think the HH rating is high enough for strong rain. Several people have mentioned using tarps over it as additional protection and that is certainly a viable option, just adds a bunch of time to the setup and take down. I hope it works out for you!! :-) Thanks for watching and taking a moment to comment!!

    I do not want to buy Magellan Outdoors Swiftrise Hub Tent cause rain came inside the tent. You showed me and other about proof and thank you very much for nice video.

    Awesome vid, Thanks. Wish I could find a generic rainfly that is made to help with the rain. I almost got this too replace my other leaky tent. Subscribed

      @DMSAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for your subscription. We're always excited to welcome another member of Ye Faithful Few! You could always get a tarp and rig it up over the top and tie it down! I think that solution adds to much time to the setup but others do it regularly! I got a review of another tent coming out in 2 weeks so hit that bell notification so you're reminded! 😀 Thanks again!!

    Great series of videos for the review. Answered all my questions and then some. I camp in warmer weather so the windows/vents are very attractive. Do get the occasional summer storm, so weighing the options here. Appreciate the time man.

      Hey thanks for watching and dropping a comment in! We appreciate knowing that we helped out! We ended up returning the Magellan for the Gazelle T8. But if one doesn't mind spending the time seam sealing the entire tent and/or throwing a blue tarp over and securing it the tent is pretty fantastic for its amenities! I think its better than the Gazelle in design features but worse in materials and construction.

    Did you make a video after you went camping in it?

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Turns out i never went camping in it! I decided to return it due to the leaking issues it had. I ended up going with the gazelle T8 and have not regretted it.

    Bummer about the water. Outside of that, though, it looks pretty sweet. 🤔

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup! A tarp and a couple bungees would solve the problem in a bad storm!! And still save you $300!!

      @@DMSAdventures That sounds promising! I may wait and see if Gazelle or Academy run some killer sales this holiday season.

  • @SantosChronicles

    This is just so massive and that rain was no joke. Was that ring door bell footage? This is not a tent but rather a movable home!!! I'm only 5 foot 5 so this is way more than enough room. Oh man, too bad it got water - but that was a crazy storm.

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha yes it was, that the only thing I had to show the rain and I don't think it did it justice. That was the first time I pulled any footage to use it. I thought it should have been better quality. I probably did something wrong. Its a good size for sure, still isn't the biggest tent we've ever had. I've actually gone for smaller tents looking for something easy to put up. i HATE feeding poles through sleeves and putting poles together etc! I've definitely got some bad luck with leaky tents. Most just aren't made for storms. Our Cinch tents are the only ones we've never had a leak on!! Thanks for watching Santos!! :-)

      Thank you sir!! YES!! I was so disappointed!! It's really a great tent... they just gotta do some work on the waterproofing!!
