This is way back when Boxing was really great and fun... not that it isn't great today, but these old guys were wonderful to watch!

And when you could actually see a title fight on the regular network channels.

This was prime time network television and included non other than Sugar Ray Leonard, Larry Holmes, and Mike Weaver fights. What a rare treat (even back then) this was.

I remember watching this on TV, and watching Eddie chop Marvin down with the left hooks to the body. If only Eddie had taken his training seriously for all of his fights.

Best fight Eddie every fought. Nearly perfect. Look at his stamina...he was barely breathing between rounds.

Mustafa Muhamed threw a mean right up top and a then a hard left to the body. You can tell by the sound of his punches that Eddie could crack! The more I watch him though the more I wonder why he never threw enough punches. I just don’t understand his passive style. He had concussive power but he’d do nothing for rounds then and then when everyone was asleep he would throw a KO.

Greatest division in all of boxing and Michael Spinks ruled it

Eddie was interested in fighting Larry at that time. Larry called him a homophobic slur, dismissing him. That aside, Marvin was very exciting, one of a kind ferocious. Champ nevertheless fought a classic, must watch tactical fight focusing on that perfect body attack, dominating Marv piece by piece like a surgeon. I used to shudder thinking how good he must be in the ring with all those skills and extended right hand power.

One thing you can't deny Marvin Johnson of. He never ducked anybody. His first defense of his title was against the best. Saad Muhammad and Mustafa Muhammad.
