As a 45 year old in 2024, I feel the same way about Tyson, even though he’s still alive. I grew up through the 80s and 90s watching his fights and it just has such sentimental and nostalgic value watching the old matches. I hated when he lost to Douglas bc everyone knew he was better than him, but just didn’t take the fight seriously. At least Holyfield and Lewis were the best and better than Tyson at the time, although I think prime Mike beats them both. But Buster Douglas? Come on. Looked like he didn’t even train for that fight bc he was so cocky and he even said he partied all night the night before with Bobby Brown doing coke and shit saying he didn’t need sleep to beat Douglas. He even said he didn’t need to train or even sleep for 5 days before the fight and still beat him. Lol. Well he was wrong and unnecessarily put a huge damper on his career from being so cocky. He wouldn’t have lost a fight until years later when he fought Holyfield. He truly was the best of my generation. Maybe not as good as Ali, but we will never really know bc their careers never crossed paths. Ali probably would’ve danced around him and used his height and beat him though. Would’ve been a great fight to watch though.
here is a man who popularised boxing and proved his nobility by giving every challenger a shot at the title belt. Those 2 and halve years of exile from the sport still remains the lost years of world boxing. Ali is the greatest athlete ever.
Thanks for uploading: there are not many new videos on Ali and this era, that include insightful, new material. The interview and interviewer of Frazier (34:54), exemplified the kind of agitation Ali had to put up with and why he initially reacted so aggressively when people went out of their way to call him 'Clay'. This nobody interviewer was ridiculous in trying to lure Frazier (who was known for deliberately doing this too) to call him "Clay" during the interview but, Frazier was polite and simply called Ali "The Champ" this time. Sadly, Ali was past his prime, rusty and not supremely reconditioned yet when he fought a prime 'Smokin' Joe' (who was a beast at the time) but IMO might still have won if he had waited longer than just 4.5 months to fight him after that 3.5-year exile. Says a lot about the man though: his 'heart'/bravery, toughness, strength (to manhandle or tie up strong opponents including Liston, Frazier, Foreman, Lyle, Terrell, Bonavena and Shavers), granite chin and KO/stoppage record, are often underrated.
Wow man i can look at the Foreman fight ANY minute of the day.... I've seen it soo many times now and it still gives me the Goose bumps!!! Rest in Peace great man❤❤🙏
That's one of the reasons why I love Ali so much!! They accused him of being a draft dodger, but he didn't dodge the draft he stood flat-footed in the United States of America and refused to go kill other poor people that never did anything to him!! A real draft dodger is a person who leaves the United States and hides.. I admire his bravery and his convictions..
It is bullshit that the best years of Ali's career was never seen in the ring as Ali was smart & knew he stood no chance of going to war but was showing other Americans a way out of war by claiming to be muslim & paid the cost by teaching others how not go to a pointless war legally which is very admirable as I have heard him put down because of not joining the draft but those people making these assumptions fail to realize he was teaching others how to stay alive from a war that was idiotic in the first place as most people did not know this loophole he could preach on tv because of his icon status & I find it awesome that he was looking out for other people who didn't realize there was a third option as I don't think he thought they would ever put him in war because of his prestige as the GOAT but did for the common man by preaching his knowledge about a way out of the draft
@Dr.Dark1331 That just goes to show that many of you just don't get it! Listen I'm 68 years of age & had the opportunity to actually meet Muhammad Ali. Now, in 1967 , cause I'm a "Die hart' Ali fan.1967 he was stripped of his title you want talk about a fighter that was perfect, His last fight that year was against a opponent named Zora Folly, on march 22 1967 - Oct 26th Jerry Quarry! Now you need to know both of these fighters today would be world of champions. Although Ali disposed of both very easy. I really Don't BELIEVE you realize how GREAT MUHAMMAD ALI truly was,in 1966 (but Nov. 4th )the best I've seen of Ali & his skills was against CLEVELAND WILLIAMS.OH! MY GOD,! WATCH THAT fight he knocks mr.williams down backing up! You will never see this in today's boxing, And to have him be stripped of his title 15 mths. Later , YES they were beyond racists, if you want to believe that they just took his title because he didn't join the armed forces. That's possible, however, he was so damn good you had to be here ,a lot was happening. And Ali was so vocal about things, you must understand he was almost perfect in that ring, & out of it as well. He's the best road model I've ever met. And he didn't have any flaws. He spent time in jail , not for not going to the armed forces, but for driving without a license. 5- 10 days if I'm correct! That's something that's hidden, however I can remember it like it was yesterday. Those 3 1/2 years we're his paramount without a doubt, & the POWERS THAT BE , took strong advantage of it.When he returned he still was better than every one else, but you could see a slight very slight difference. This is why we say, those years were taken from him intentionally.YOU THINK FLOYD MAYWEATHER was something you had to be here during his time. There will never be another "Greatest fighter that possess the skill set of "MUHAMMAD ALI" THAT ALI SHUFFLE is so difficult to do.Try it, then imagine doing it when you about to unload a fury or barrage of punches. That is what the GREATEST MUHAMMAD ALI did, along with his poetry 😄!

One of the most brilliant training methods Ali employed was his practice of running backward for miles and miles. Given the nature of his fighting style, and the fact that he was a back foot fighter who employed lots of lateral and backwards movement as the foundation for his superb jab, this training technique was probably one of the most effective things he could’ve done to enhance his style.
