Todays video i wanted to explain the features of steams controller layouts app, this is for use with all steam games even games with no controller support.
in the video i go through each setting and show what you have to do to setup a layout or how to use a community layout from other steam members.

Steam for me has made this new update unbelievably confusing.

Not only that, me and some friends are having serious trouble with the controller. In my case, I set a lot of configurations that doesn't apply at all.

Bro first time on fivem last night controller worked fine now it’s still working in steam but not in five m
I'm glad it took me a while to figure out the last big picture mode and this one has very little similarities. So enjoyable to struggle to use something you don't want to go through again.
I can't believe a simple co-op mod has made me waste *months* to set up controller layouts to fix a input bug and only just now that i actually found what i wanted.

Guild Wars 2 controller support is far better than I realized. Community configs 👍🏻
this setting seems to help with stick drift issues for ps5 and battle beavers. my controller right stick started looking up on it own and playing around with the steam settings is working to remove the problem.
I am trying to find a couple of keys on my keyboard that work on the controller. I want to slowly crawl the slowest motion possible slightly pushing up on the thumb stick and locking in a up down left and right position on the keyboard so I can essentially get these long pant shots and record them for gameplay TH-cam stuff.
How would I be able to do that?
Can I change my controller support info I mean I play on ps4 controller and when I play the buttons appears with xbox buttons
Whenever I use ps5 controller on a game like resident evil revelations the controller layouts is just Xbox and not PlayStation

Do I need to change it everytime I play different game?
You could probably do a universal one unless the game you play is different example fps to driving may require a new layout
what is i want to change the base input, if im on a game where jump is the X button(on an xbox controller) and i want to jump with A instead, a la kingdom come deliverance.
So I accidentally downloaded a community layout and I don’t want it, how would I delete it or switch to a default layout

Can I disable certain buttons in steam input instead of disabling the whole thing all together?
Hey taking my chance here hoping you can help or someone in the comments. The game i am having issues with is FiveM GTA V. I've changed my layout - it works sometimes on the server but I will comeback later or another day and my controller mapped layout is just not working in game. Checked the layout on steam and its the desired layout but again on FiveM once I launch the game the actual layout is not translating in game. Any help?

you can create your own, but if its steam themselves not much else i could do as its their app ??

This is freaking confusing! I'm trying to setup my Xbox controller for stick and move for Dying Light 2. I play a lot of stick and move for COD and I'm used to that controller configuration. Can anyone help? The game has certain restrictions for key binds on controller. So it seems I have to use my controller on Steam as a Keyboard and Mouse. But I'm lost on how to key bind certain action on my controller? Some one help me out, I know I wont be able to do everything but need more information.

I'm having the biggest problem.
Im trying to use my DS4 controller to play Mafia 1 Definitive Edition. It only has support for Xbox controllers, so naturally I'll use Steam Input.
However, I'm noticing that even though the buttons get translated, the Joysticks don''t register at all.
I get around the problem by instead of Using Steam Input to make the game think I'm using an Xbox controller, I simply remap the buttons on my PS4 controller and switch the inputs for Keyboard inputs.
i.e. Right joystick becomes Joystick Mouse and left Joystick becomes a Directional Pad for WASD Keys.
This is alright but now I have to remap every single button to a keyboard button and that just gets confusing especially when there's so many controls and different actions for the same button on my controller.
What do I do, help.
I'm trying to figure out modeshift and how to set up radial dials for dayz on my Ally, it would help me a ton if you can cover that thanks.

how do i bind a certain button on a ps4 controller to a button on my keyboard, for example on gta pulling out the weapon wheel on R1 but binding it so it thinks im pressing tab, therefore i don’t get delay
How do i make my own layout? When i try to edit triggers it end up with two inputs at once so i just want to skip the fuss and make my own layout

Ok so figured it out but the issue I'm now having is that it's not letting me choose the layout I want for ats, then when I select the quick action I want and launch the game it doesn't pick both the layour or quick action I had set it to. They really need to revamp this and make it more simple because for months I've been confused and still not fully understanding this.

@ThekappaConvict I figured it out they made this very complicated, I found that customizing the controls on the original tab for me is what made it work.
when i set up my controller in input settings, it detects the guide button. i go into game, guide button doesnt work, doesnt work in big picture mode, also i cant use any controller layout im losing my mind
how to select other gamepad as source of some inputs?
@freziyt223 Sorry, did you mean how to change the input like xbox to PlayStation so it's the configuration for that device?
@@ThekappaConvict sorry for late reply, i mean how to change their priority and i figured it out, while in the game(applies only to this game), open steam library, right click on selected game and choose manage, then edit controller or something like this, then press change priority and change it
hi there, i have a problem with my ps5 controller, when i try to use it in fortnite (pc) for any reason the trackpad/touchpad is not working, it's like binding to options button and when i try to bind edit button to it, basically get cancelled or something, it's completely weird cause in the morning it worked perfectly, i changed to triangle and when i tried to get back to touchpad btn it didnt work, i tried to delete the config file in steam, i used a ps4 controller and the same thing happened, idk whyyy it's super annoying, if someone can help me i'd appreciate it very much
I can't get that little controller icon at the bottom right of the game like yours, and I think that's why my controller doesn't work in-game

Yeah, this "guide" feels like it responds to a Twitter question in the fastest, scriptless, off-the-cuff manner. It's only relevant to his subscribers or people that play PUBG.
A video of this title deserves much more care. Steam Input is its own world in an ocean.

make sure you have the controller selected in steam settings and controller and turn off any other that may change this like ps and generic etc

You compleatly skipped the dpad hotbar settings, That is what I was looking for in this video.

Imagine having the capability to control your operating system and whatever game you want with the second-best controller for Steam, but being completely oblivious to how Steam Controller Settings actually work to get that to happen.

Don't like gyro anything like that doesn't do it for me.
And to be honest, steam games always work without having to do anything to profiles to be frank
i had my butoms switched and i cant return to defult.....
This sucks because I used to be able to play american truck simulator with my controller with no problem and input the keys on the settings itself, now I can no longer do that because of this update.

Is there a way to use Steam virtual keyboard on Firefox by chance on Windows 10? I'm being lazy and I'm using Steam to controll my left analog stick as a mouse but have no way to map a keyboard to the Controller. If this is possibly and anyone else had tried it I would appreciate it gratefully. Thank you. :) So I can watch stuff like Crunchyroll, Netflix, etc from my PC? you can do that in game just goto settings and choose bumpers
It’s a nuisance that they make the controller a mouse / keyboard & director… I built this pc for my little guy aside from the others we built and installed steam. It would take a 3 month course to master an Xbox controller as a mouse and keyboard lmfao…

He gave so much good info, slow down, there's a million things man, he covered most of them. I bet if you take something you are super knowledgeable about and you explain it to somebody who is also super knowledgeable about it I bet they would expose gaps in your knowledge and problems as well.
