Hello, please enjoy my full review of the Fluval Shaker aquarium set. UPDATE FROM VIDEO: The sliding trays are made from an aluminium composite NOT acrylic as I said and also the side glass panels are 8mm not 7mm. Let me know what you think in a comment, LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!
Super nice setup from Fluval. Only one complaint I would have liked to have seen the 407 filter than the 307. As most Aquarium Hobbyists like to run larger filters. Also it would have been awesome to have adjustable feet on the bottom of the stand for leveling!
It would be quite easy to make the left fake drawer into a proper drawer and even the right one could be made into a shorter drawer and then it will not interfere with the filter pipe work. Some plywood and four drawer runners from B&Q would be an easy job. I am going to buy one of these tanks and I will do this because you can never have enough drawer space.
Nice review. I am looking to get a new tank and have to ask if you have had or heard of any issues or concerns with the two holes drilled in the bottom of the tank? I just think it seems wrong to have two holes on the bottom of the tank when ultimately the idea is to keep water inside the tank. Are the connections compatible with other external filters or just the Fluval 07 series? I've also concerns about the water circulating properly due to both inlet and outlet on the same side of the tank. Just wondering if you have had any problems. Thanks
The idea and execution of drilling tanks for sumps and filtration has been around for a long time. This tank has no issue keeping water inside of it. The fittings can take other filters.
Great vid and review been waiting for one on these, am thinking of getting one of these (160) or a flex 123 what one would you go for? (Cabinet is irrelevant as I already have one should I get a flex one thing swinging it for me flex wise is I like that everything is hidden but I know you have both and know your stuff, cheers again 👍
And wait to see the videos of you setting it up as a marine , my fish are currently in a small tank awaiting to move into a larger tank not sure on what tho but this is definitely up there
Looks great! Definately a good option, seen some great cannister filter reefs and the fluval style lights could be a deciding factor for people wanting a reef tank with a nice hood, most lights end up way above the tank or hanging from above👍
Hey great vid. I have just bought one of these tanks. I was just wondering what your opinion is on the filter inlet hight. In my novice head I think this needs to be fairly low. But it comes about half way up the tank. If you could let me know your thoughts thanks.
@@EverydayAquarist yeah the outlet is great that it can skim the surface. I mean the inlet is fairly high. I thought it would need to be lower so it gets the heavier bits of rubbish round the bottom.
Great review. Do you think it is possible to add fluvals inline UVC Clarifier next to the filter. I have one running four hours with my 307 filter and works a treat. Thinking of one of these shakers but would like the uvc
Great video,I bought a fluval roma240 which comes with the fluval 307,I also bought a fluval spray bar kit as I love the spray bar effect on the surface but the problem is where they have changed the pipe work on the filter the spray bar connector doesn't fit on the powerhead, the pipe is too big for the spray bar to fit on so any suggestions what to do
Are you meant to remove the paper off the bottom of the tank? This is my first aquarium and when I tried to remove it, it wouldn't all come off so wondering if it's meant to stay on. If it is, what's the purpose of it?
@@EverydayAquarist tanks again the very last question cause I no u are very busy with all ur set ups which are brilliant and the shed very nice Job would I on the other side of the tank get a second external filter onto it I no one side is drilled on the left side would I be able to hook up a second tanks again for ur help
Just got a new Fluval shaker 168 quick question it came with two spare tiny o rings the aqua stop valve already has two one on each side are these spare ones so please ? I’m confused tanks I no u are a buy’s person
I've found this colour is popular with younger couples, I guess the grey colour and more modern look of the shaker style is what swings it. Always sold it in grey. Most older customers buy the proper oak units as they've probably had poor quality MFC cabinets before and have been put off. I do like the cabinet, I don't like the lid being just acrylic. Why do fluval always cheap out on the lids, the Roma had a plastic lid too!
@christopher stewart The feet are non-adjustable. They are blocks screwed to the base. You'd have to add something under the blocks to level if it's an issue
Is drilled holes in bottom of glass tank an accident waiting to happen I wonder? I mean if anything leaks or fails in the seals, or pipes under there, there is huge pressure to release all water into your room! By the way is 240L the biggest tank like this that Fluval does? No 350L tank?
Love the design of this tank however very disappointed by the colouring of the laminate. All the pictures show a much darker stand than it actually is in the flesh.
Do you know if an fx4 can be connected up underneath the aquarium? I recently bought this shaker and want to upgrade the filter but to have the pipes going over the top I’d have to cut into the sliding lids which I don’t want to do. I was thinking of just changing the intake basket over as the fx4 requires a bigger one than the 307. The output and the hoses look pretty much the same
Could have gave us shorter depth drawers Also wish the top wasn't open like that. Looks unfinished and when standing it's not an attractive finish. Should have made the sliders color coordinated and flush with the top.
I had a Fluval Accent aquarium and it was honestly a nightmare. It was one failure after another which eventually caused the death of my beloved animals. After being exposed to small amounts of fresh water the vinyl began to peel and the wood started to warp. After filling the tank it began to leak from the rim, trapping water between the aquarium and stand. The filter box that came with the unit was not good, so i purchased a Marineland to compliment it. I knew the Fluval filter was a problem but i hung on to it, a terrible mistake. The Fluval filter box traps clumps of debris and sewage in areas you cannot reach or clean. One night i went to sleep and I WOKE UP TO FIND ALL OF MY ANIMALS DEAD. umm yeah. I clean my filters once a week and my Marineland filter did a great job but it could only capture so much of the unbelievable amount of garbage that the Fluval filter dumped into my Aquarium. In my opinion fluval is absolutely trash.. dont ask about the really hard time fluval gave me when i tried to get it replaced - receipt and all still refused responsibility.
The drawers are rubbish, why would you not make the outer ones functional and the right one less deep so it doesn't obstructing the filter? Also I don't like the drilled filter... What if you want the filter on the left???

Quality and very informative review . 👏 New subscriber 👍
Great review! Been debating one of these since I saw it a few weeks ago, deffo going to get one now!
Best review I’ve found on this tank- thankyou
Nice review bud. Covered everything.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it
Hi, how would you leveling this cabinet. Thanks

I really do like the shaker stand. I would go with the oak finish as I have oak floors and furniture.
Oak will be the most popular I think
Do you think it would be possible to paint the gray cabinet?
@@suee031 I don't think you can paint over the wood effect coating unless you use special paint, but I might be wrong
@@suee031 You could prime it and paint it for sure, just use primer purpose made for cabinetry.

Seems to work as it is. I made mine reach the top to skim the surface. I think fluval do a part for it

Yes definitely can and I will be
Betta external filters have built in uv light and surface skimmer
When you say the tank is pre-drilled for the filter pipes are the plastic fittings that go through the glass pre-fitted by the manufacturer?
Yes
It has no cross braces which really concerns me as the fluval vencenzia which is basically the same size does. Cross braces add strength

Theres a video of someone with a 307 filter fitted inside sure u have seen it by now though bud enjoy your new tank u deserve this new toy
Thank you! Yes this 307 will fit no problem. I was wondering if an fx4/6 would but I think it would be very tight. I'll be setting this up very soon.
Will a fax 4 fit cabinet

Yes in the upgrades section I explain how. I will be using this as marine

Is the wood solid oak or is it veneer?
Solid veneer

FX6 fits like I mean just! 😂
They brought out a 345 litre it’s same length 111 cm but deeper
I saw it at my local MH. Very heavy apparently
I’ve just got that big one today
💯👍👍
I only wish they didn’t drill through the glass for the pipes
What would you prefer?
I love to see that, keeps things clean. I only wish they had glass tubes i stead of the ugly chunky black ones

On Fluval’s website it says that the 66.5 Gal Shaker comes with the 407

£750 now for the 252ltr
