I just replaced the factory VDO vacuum, and volt gauges on my motorhome yesterday. Luckily my trans temp gauge still works perfectly.
    Let's go Brandon
    1st comment too 😆

Oh yeah my VDO gauge reads 210 ish on my 1987 454, going off the temp port in the head between 2 cylinders on the right bank.
I'm toying with going to full port vacuum on the advance on the distributor to see if I can get the idle temp lower.
I'm running a 165 Edelbrock high flow thermostat.
Wish there was a way to private message you I could go into it real deeply with you on all of your issues, I'm constantly tinkering with mine out of boredom.
I also have every GM factory service manual, even the rare ones.

I switched to manifold vacuum and not ported today, now idle temp is about 170

My go-to adhesive remover is WD-40. It softens the glue and encapsulates it with oil so it doesn't re-stick. Its a much better cleaner than a lubricant in my opinion.

Agreed, I prefer 3 in One machine oil and penetrating oil for lubrication rather than WD40 which was designed as for Water Displacement.

Lighter fluid will take that adhesive right off. It’s good for removing a lot of gunky stuff without damaging a delicate surface. Works on plastic too, without harming it. I get it cheap at TSC.

The new coolant sensor is mounted right on the top of the thermostat and might be reading higher there. Also…with it mounted up that high it might be in an air pocket? Just a thought.

Nice man. If you want some lenses made for those lights hit me up I can print some up on my 3D printer. They turn out pretty decent. Just have to tell me the measurements.

    Hey Nate,
I figured out alot about the temp readings on different ports and how to run the vacuum advance on the distributor.
If you want some help reply and I'll post up my email long enough for you to get it.

Quickest way to remove those annoying stickers is carb cleaner.

Do you get better fuel mileage with the electric fans? Also does this keep the engine cooler in stop and go traffic?
