Well he got shot in the throat, almost died, was paralyzed and had to learn to play again…. Became a different person and player. Some say better some say no. Just glad I’ve been able to see and hear him live over the last several years. What an amazing story and musical legacy.
I'm a great Larry fan since the beginning, but i love better his playing and sound on stage nowadays (no more annoying pose and showing off, like in this video, a more subtle playing, with fewer notes, and a better guitar sound with his Dumble and Bludotone amplifiers than with the Mesa Boogie back then...). This appliying only for the concerts of this era , as i love his work and sound in the studio, specially with Steely Dan and on Court and Spark by Joni Mitchell back then...
Does Anyone know if There is a Full Concert of This Show and if so what is the Concert Called and what was the Date for the Concert?... This looks Like a Great Concert. I see some Clips of it But Not the Hole Concert That Has the Songs and the Times Below. This looks About 1977-1978 is what I am Thinking. There is a Video of a Full Concert of the Crusaders and Larry Carlton and His Hair was Not Quit as Long as you see Here. I am a Big Fan of Larry Carlton's Work. it's a Must Have Concert.
This was a recording of a Japanese television show. There is no full concert. I have been looking for it for a long time. This is a concert held in Shibuya public hall in Tokyo Japan in 1979 or 1980.
Cool. if you Find it Let me know. I am into Finding the Coolest Concerts of These Types of Groups and Making DVD's so I can Watch Them if you Have Not seen it Try looking for Larry Carlton Live in 1984 39: 48 is the Time. it is a Bit Short But Totally Awesome to Watch. it's That Good.
@eric_ccc, my family and my sister lived in Shibuya from (1986-1990) The Shibuya public hall in Tokyo Japan must be near where they lived. I would love to go there to see the venue.
It's Terry Trotter, a great piano player, and he has some trouble with the sound of his ARP synth, but fortunately quickly returns to his Rhodes electric piano...
Joe Sample was black. That is Terry Trotter, who Larry really enjoyed playing with as he said he knew how to fit in musically with what was going on around him.
AND the great Robert "pops" Popwell on bass ! (1950-2017)
My absolute favorite guitarest of all time !
Robert "Pops" Popwell also came to Japan.
That is the mullet of mullets. Definitely mullet hall of fame.
Go Pops!!!!
Emperor mullet
HI, THANKS FOR POSTING MY MAN, MR. 335....................... LARRY CARL-TONE.........!
It sounds very good, is not it?
Man- he could really play BACK THEN. That tone, that fire. back then...

Guess its John Robinson
I guess its John Robinson.
I pick John Ferraro
wow, wow, wow....
Who is the drummer during this concert ?
John Ferraro? He did the "335 Live in Japan" 1979 record.
The piano man, was that joe sample?
It's Terry Trotter, a great piano player, and he has some trouble with the sound of his ARP synth, but fortunately quickly returns to his Rhodes electric piano...
