    Let me know if you tried this and what kind of results did you get? Also any comments how to do the grading better are very welcome!

    Finally someone working DLOG with coloring knowledge. If you ever do this again, I would love your audio commentary along the way to explain your style/approach in thinking. I'd especially love to see you take on more clips with poor latitude/extreme exposures. Cheers m8!

      Thanks! You know, that how you wrote my name is a finnish word that means same as "a plot". And also many times that have been used as my nickname like you wrote it =D. Somehow, everyone that are not a native finnish speaker tend to write and pronounce Jouni as Juoni. But I totally understand because its quite unnatural name to write and pronounce for any other than a native finn. =D

      So glad to here that feedback Jan! Thanks! For me, color grading is one of the most enjoyable parts of editing. And I agree, good color grading tutorials especially for advanced/pro level cinematic look are hard to find. Of course I am just a hobbyist, but I will try my best to share what I learn =)

    why do you track the mask? Whats the purpose of that? sorry im still new to editing

    • @JouniJuhani
      @JouniJuhani  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not neccessary to apologize asking, no worried =) I just wanted to highlight the bridge in this scene, so i needed a mask that follows the bridge position in the frames. Just some additional lift for highlights and shadows and more sharpness to bridge area.

    Excellent color grading! Are you exposing the video for the highlights? When I shoot video with my Air 2S I'm having a hard time to color grade: sky is too bright as well as white buildings.

    • @JouniJuhani
      @JouniJuhani  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yea, i try to usually expose for the highlights. Sunset/rise are difficult because noise appears in the shadows really fast, there you have to compromise the highlights if you want lift the shadows in post, otherwise the shadows are too noisy and have to be kept really dark. Also I feel that it is a bit easier in davinci resolve to achieve good grading result with air 2s dlog, but thats really subjective gut feeling.

    • @Eduardo-zh5eb
      @Eduardo-zh5eb ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JouniJuhani Ok, understand. I´m using CPL but highlights are still overexposed. I"ll expose for the highlights from now on.

      If you use the 180 degree shutter rule ( for example framerate 30 fps and shutter speed 1/60) for smooth footage you need nd-filters. At daylight nd32 or nd64. I use manual (not auto) settings for iso, shutter, framerate and wb/temperature. Also i shoot always in dlog.

      @Eduardo-zh5eb ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JouniJuhani Just shot D-log 32ND + CPL EXP -1.0. It worked just fine. Thank you

      @JouniJuhani  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Eduardo-zh5eb Perfect! I also recommend experimenting manual exposure settings (iso, shutter and wb/temperature)

    Why does everyone need the teal and orange look?

    • @JouniJuhani
      @JouniJuhani  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think everyone needs it. For me it was the first "cinematic" look I learned from youtube, and there are lot of tutorials how to do it (but not for air 2s dlog). Of course when you level up your grading/editing skills and get more understanding about colors you can create any kind of interesting and aesthetic look. In my content I concentrate on "cinematic" and "art like" looks because those are my passion and the theme of my channel.

      @@JouniJuhani Thanks for your explanation! I only film nature, so I want a realistic look. But your artistic approach makes sense, too!
