Fix: Windows Cannot be Installed to This Disk GPT, MBR & Dynamic Disk Error

- While installing Windows OS on your new PC/laptop or new disk you may get an error at installation screen that -
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.
OR
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can only be installed to GPT disks
OR
Windows cannot be installed to this disk space. The partition contains one or more dynamic volumes that are not supported for installation.
GPT and MBR are two formats of the hard disk, MBR stands for Master boot record and GPT stands for GUID partition table.
To install Windows on GPT disk your motherboard should support UEFI or it is better to install on MBR partition.
Fix Windows Cannot Install to This Disk.
Follow these steps -
1. At installation screen press Shift+F10 or Fn + Shift + F10 keys at the same time.
2. You will get Command Prompt at the installation screen.
3. Type "Diskpart" and hit Enter.
4. Type "list disk" hit Enter.
5. It will show you all the disk into your computer. Now type "select disk 'disk_no.'" Like "select disk 0" Hit Enter.
6. Type "clean" and hit Enter, cleaning your hard disk will erase the whole disk so be careful if you have any data on the disk. Make a backup before cleaning the disk.
7. Type "convert gpt" and hit enter.
If GPT doesn't work for you the Type "convert mbr" OR "convert basic".
8. Exit the command prompt and proceed with the Windows installation.
Now, you would be able to install Windows on your new disk.

This method will fix any such disk errors but you would lose existing data into the disk.
There are chances to save data.

can i change convert one partition only? because my C: is on the same disk with my D: and F: that containts my important datas. please help

additional information: i'm using bootable usb to install OS
I've done the same.. And i lost my whole data... Previously i had a total of 4 partitions drive C, D, E, F... Drive C was having system data and other D E F were having personal data... So when i did what you have done in the video... My whole data wiped up... It contained my valuable data... Please help me to recover my all data 😭😭

Very good tutorial, thank you very much. Yes, you should save all your important data before using the method shown in the video. I personally have just used the xcopy command from command line for saving my data to my external HDD after realizing that I can't keep my second partition.

WOW! I had this problem with a different computer last year and spent days going through different video and typed troubleshooting guides from all over the net. I do not remember the final solution that worked but it was complex and took forever. Your method nailed in one minute. As for the guy that lost all his data... um... you are warned even by windows to back everything up. I have backed important data up since I was a kid before doing any major overhaul o. The hard drive, so many things can go wrong. Then again yeah this guy really should explain that "clean" will wipe all the data... yikes... sorry dude.

Thats why make partitions for important data's.. Never put imp data in your OS
Thanks to him?. No Thanks to YOU not paying attention to the basics of what happens when you "clean" or FORMAT a drive, he even stated the fact it will get wipe the drive. This is why you do a thing called back up or get someone who knows what they are doing.
