I had a 2020 i3 MacBook Air and was going to upgrade to the m1 Air, but they were sold out everywhere. The apple stores did have the m1 pro in stock, though. Ended up going with a base model and it's a total understatement to say the difference between the i3 air and the m1 pro is night and day. i3 is fantastic for what it is while the pro just basically lets me do whatever I want without worry. The battery life is unreal, too!
Dang I have been watching so many videos about this laptop and this was honest and informational also THANK YOU for the keyboard sound I needed that and I can’t go to Best Buy to test so overall just thank you!!!!!
As a student myself, at the end of the day, before you plugged it in to charge, how much percentage of battery did you have? I hear it has excellent battery life, but I want to listen to it from a student's p.o.v. It's one of the essential things I'm looking for because the one I'm using now will only last 3 hours before I have to plug it in; it weighs about 5 pounds. It was great when I was doing online, but now that I'm going on campus, it is giving me shoulder pains. The video was excellent as well. Thank you!

Thanks for watching! Chrome performs very well and is actually native to ARM now! Since this macbook only has 8 GB RAM, I can't have too many Chrome tabs and applications opened at the same time.

I have both the M1 MacBook Pro and the M1 Air and I can hardly tell a different in them. Both base models. Only thing I upgraded was the memory to 512. No issues with anything I've thrown at it. I'm selling my 16in MacBook Pro because of it.
I just got 256 gb for this macbook but I didn't intend to use it for school. I would say 512 gb is a safe choice for an incoming college student. You want to have enough space to store various files, photos, videos and be able to download all the apps that you will need!

I’m not a function key user, but I hear a lot of people complaining that they hate the touch bar since it doesn’t give tactile feedback. I’m planning on using a macbook as a CS major, so I’m not sure if the touch bar would hinder me much.
tbh the touchbar makes very little difference for me. I almost never use function keys, so most of the time I only use the touchbar to change the volume, display brightness, and to type emojis lol 😄😅. I'd say the touchbar is nice to have, but definitely not necessary

8 GB would be enough if you make sure to not have too many applications opened at the same time...but I would recommend 16 GB to be safe, and so that the performance of your laptop is not limited by the RAM.

I study Asia pacific studies with Japanese and will be adding Korean to that next academic year and 8 ram is more than enough. No, it was Final Cut Pro so it should be a native application. I think the performance of final cut was mainly limited by the lack of RAM, and not because of the M1 chip
Yes, I think 16 GB RAM would be the best choice for anyone looking to get into dev work. Even if you don't think you need that much RAM right now, I think that 16GB RAM especially helps to "futureproof" your laptop. This way, if you start doing more and more heavy work on your laptop, you won't have to worry about RAM.
